    Very nice Miss Natalie Anz 🎼🎹... reminds me of the time when there were no sound films...great piano ballad 🫶 🎼 And yes...with the piano there is no ,,turn the knob,, 😂
    All the best to you and your channel 🖤

      Hi, thank you 🙏🏻 🎶 🎹 that’s exactly the feeling with this kind of music, a time when there were no sound in films 😆
      Ahaha, no turning the knob in piano indeed, compared to electronic music 😆
      Thank you 👍🏻

    You have a perfect tact and finger flexibility for accentuated music, like the early black entertainers, as the very Joplin, had. Boogie-woogie piano is inside of your competence.

      Thank you for your comment! I’m self taught so that means a lot! Boogie piano really is fun to listen to, I hope to be able to play that style one day.

    Oh my God, Natalie, you are getting better and better. Thank you very much for the 'Cleopha' ! My impression is that your feeling for pace and rhythm is permanently improving, everything sounds so intuitively perfect, fluent and harmonic. If I am not mistaken you even changed the speed slightly from one part to the other to emphasize the different moods of the piece. Magnifique !
    Go on with your efforts, Natalie !! It will be a fortune for a lifetime for you, and it is a pleasure to listen.
    My very best wishes from Germany, and good luck !

      My dear Henry, what lovely and kind words are shared from you always to me. I definitely am pleased with myself that I have been getting better and better with each rag, and from all the practice since "launching" my channel last year. Indeed so, my feeling for pace and rhythms have become more solid and intuitive. Some pieces come more "naturally" to me than others. With this one, I definitely let my heart do the playing over my mind.
      You have such a great ear! I did slow down the pace in the third section, just a little bit, to emphasize the different "feeling" the harmonies conveyed in that part. Great catching!
      It is a pleasure to share my passion with you all on YT, including your chess club friends. Say hello to your friends and I hope they enjoy this one as much as I did! Have a great weekend 😊 and best wishes from California.

    Hello, Natalie, that piece of music brings the sun to my heart, especially when you play it in your concentrated and confident way. I thought I never heard of this title before and I am surprised of the riches you dig up out of Scott's work. A little research, however, showed me that I must have heard this before, but obviously was not very impressed, since this pianist was hushing over it in less than 3 minutes in a "saloon background music" way. That's what lets your style stand out of many. When you play a song like this, the listener notices that you play an important piece of music, which indeed any good music is. There is nothing meaningless, every part of a song deserves its proper attention by the player - then the listener can feel it, too. I can do nothing but thank you for all the joy you give to me for free - just by your style of interpreting ragtime music.

    • @Natt_piano
      @Natt_piano  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello to you! What a lovely description that this piece brings the sun to your heart; because that is how I feel when playing this rag. I can confidently say that this rag is my best one yet, it comes very "natural" for me in terms of playing execution and style. The joyful melodies are so heart-warming to hear and feel.
      Ah, many of the renditions I have heard of "Cleopha" have been quite fast or rushed, not sure why pianists like to play this rag fast for some reason. Nothing wrong with that, but, playing it "so fast" does not allow listeners to enjoy and hear the beautiful harmonies and rhythm this rag has to offer. After studying the notes and character of the piece, I made it my own and allowed the lovely melodies to shine through with the proper attention, indeed. So, I am very glad that you felt the lovely sounds this rag has to offer! I feel so special that you find joy in my style of ragtime playing and interpretation. Stay tuned for many, many more to come. Wishing you all best! Have a wonderful weekend, from your friend Natalie 😁

    My my, I must say you're really hammering down your playing on the piano! 😳 The way you just casually bounce around with the left hand it's litteraly insane. 😵‍💫 Now that's what I call truly having fun with a piano rag, not a care in the world. Same goes for The Ragtime Dance I saw you post, just knocking these rags down without a sweat it almost seems. 👀 At this rate, you might as well be known as one of the great Queens of Ragtime along with Ms. Sue Keller, Ms. Christina Pepper & Ms. Kristen Mosca. 🌟
    Cleopha had always been a favorite of mine. One of he most jolly/peppy Joplin tunes I've ever known if I knew any at all! 😆 Can tell you really seemed to enjoy it yourself. 🎶
    Speakings of Joplin however, I've been thinking about this idea for awhile: What if off into the future you had a video put together of all your Joplin performances as your own channel showcase? (As well as a showcase in how much you've learned since your channel's beginning!) Think it would be something nice for your community to see your progression. :]

    • @Natt_piano
      @Natt_piano  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Heyy thank you 🙏🏻 what very sweet words coming from you, you made me happy just now ❤️ ah it takes a lot of practice to bounce around the piano like that and not miss the note 😅 I have learned how to relax more when recording to “have fun with it”; and to not think too much about the notes and to just have fun and play :D and the rest will follow. It’s getting easier to learn and play rags for sure (I actually go to your library to find the rag I’m learning to get inspired on tempo and nuances 😄)
      It would be an honor to be at the level of those 3 female Ragtime players, all of whom I’m a major fan and admirer of big time!! 😃
      Cleopha is such a lovely and happy tune, how could anyone not like it?! The march patterns are so fun to play haha those sounds are just so contagious. I really was having a lot of fun with this one, everyone can tell 😆 out of the 200 or so rags you’ve posted, that’s really cool to know that Cleopha is one of your favorites (along with The Favorite :P)
      Hey that’s quite a neat idea to have a huge compilation of all my Joplin covers into one video💡🧐 that really would be an epic and fun way to see where I started and how far I’ve come and improved (in just a year so far!). Some rags I’ve posted on here from the beginning I know I could “do better”, so I’ll have to redo some of the older performances now that my skills have “improved”.
      I hope all has been well with you since we last spoke 😊 side note - the Claypoole compilation you recently worked on was reallyyyy interesting to listen and learn about! His rags were SOO unique, I loved them. P.S- I have all your huge composer compilations saved and handy to listen to when I’m in the mood for some old-timey music :D

    • @themajesticgeorge
      @themajesticgeorge 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Natt_piano Haha, I figured you would find recording to become more of a breeze with each take/post. 😆 Like you said, the rest just follows through on it's own. 😋 And oh, well sounds like my library had been put to some good use then. And I thought I was the only one who went back to some of those videos to figure out how I want to play a certain piece. 🤣 Had gone myself to get a tempo reference for March Majestic. 😭
      And oh for sure! Come to think of it, I'm starting to think that march-like tunes are my favorite when it comes to the piano. 😆 Always find it fun to play around with the hand movements & pacing.
      Yeah, maybe even like a special milestone celebration once you reach a certain number of completed covers. Your collection is already growing huge. 😳 Just a thought, nothing else. 😋 Can't wait to hear your new & improved versions too if you happen to recreate your older takes! :D (Shoots, I feel ya there though. I got a number of videos of mine I want to go back and redo now that I have more tech experience. 😅)
      Everything has been swell, just doing what I do and working on putting more "less-known" composers of the map. 📝
      And oh, that's great to hear! 😄 Always loved me some Claypoole, was eager to finish up his stuff & put it out there. 😁 And there's nothing like some old-timey tunes every now and then. Starting to realize how much rich music there has been in the past century alone. 🎹🎶🎶

    • @Natt_piano
      @Natt_piano  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@themajesticgeorge of course your musical library has been put into great use! I’m sure I’m not the only one that goes back and listens for reference or for fun 😌 oh you just learned yourself a march! Yeah, marches are actually quite fun to play and put you in a great spirit ☺️ they’re a cool sub-genre of Ragtime.
      I think all of us who follow you are eager to see/hear your hands do some playing in addition to the research compiling 😊 that would be special. There’s so many options I could do for a milestone celebration indeed! Maybe when you reach a milestone, you could surprise us all with a cover of your own playing 💫
      Yeah I think many of us on here can always find something to improve on/do better after some experience 😊 the first 5-6 videos of mine I wasn’t using a mic to record at all, just my iPhone mic; I didn’t even put much thought into YT bc I didn’t think anyone would find me LOL 😆 So, I do plan on sprinkling in some newer versions of my “old videos” here and there eventually; The Entertainer was the start of that. And indeed, I’m sure it is the same with you with more tech & software experience after your hard work 😋 we never stop learning!
      Yeah I think many of us who subscribe to you wouldn’t have learned about those lesser-known artists if it weren’t for you 💯🙌🏻 I honestly get very excited when I see a video title of yours about a composer I don’t know and I get to discover more Ragtime gems & history through you 💎😃 this old-timey music is indeed so rich and jolly; it’s a pleasure to have some of us younger kids contribute to keeping this precious music alive 🥰🥰 (also please forgive me for writing a lot, I love to chat with kind people 😇)

      As a matter of fact, I actually have a number of recordings of me at playing at piano I had made earlier this year! Just never really posted them because I always get discouraged by how "amateur" I think my playing is compared to everyone else. 😭😭 Your own recordings of you just having fun with it and "letting it flow" is what inspired me to record my own stuff, so figure it's about time I have fun with it myself. 😆 Already reached a new 700 sub. "milestone", so no excuses for me now. 🤣
      Oh, I had thought that you had yourself a entire recording set up with a tripod camera + mic arm or something along those lines. We all wouldn't even be able to tell. 😄 And you never know the suprises you'll run into, looks like a entire chunk of people on YT had found you & stayed for more! 🎹🎶 Never stop learning indeed, just keep growing & growing. 🌱✨
      Hehe, maybe so, just happy to share their music & stories with you all. 😺😆 Surely is such a treat to see younger generations keeping the spirit of older music alive and well! With you included of course. 😁 Seems like a number of individuals from the 60s-70s Ragtime Era love to remember & reminisce the genre through your own channel. 🌟✨ (And no worries at all! I tend to write alot myself- get carried away even. 😅)

      @@themajesticgeorge ah, the left & right coordination is a tricky thing to master at first, but I’m confident you’ll get the flow of that soon 😌
      No way!! You recorded yourself playing for fun, yay 😄 I would be SOO happy to see your own playing, I cannot wait to cheer you on, mate 😋But I feel you on feeling “discouraged at your playing compared to others”… 100% I felt that way when I launched my channel, I thought I’d get more negative comments than good ones 😅. Shoot, I still feel that I’m “not good” and there’s many better pianists than me 🙃 It’s a very normal feeling we all probably had (or still have) at some point! Aw, you really made me happy that I inspired you to record your own stuff 🥲 I’d love to give you a hug just for that; I’m so touched I influenced you to record and have fun with it 🫶🏻 I didn’t even realize you have 700 subs, congrats!! 🎉 maybe you can lag posting your recordings till you reach 1000 subs 😆 then, no excuses, George 😂 jk.
      Some rags come much more natural to me (like Cleopha), while some (like The Entertainer), I can’t “make work” or feel confident with the performance. Especially when there’s 1000s of recordings of a popular piece, such as The Entertainer, I get so discouraged and that’s when you wrote some very encouraging words to make me feel more confident when I posted the newer version a few weeks ago 😊
      Oh I don’t have any fancy set-ups for recording haha, just my iPhone camera and an external mic, hooked onto a tri-pod - that’s all I need 😊 I also get discouraged tbh, because many pianists have amazing 4k cameras, mics, tech, and nice setups, but not me over here in my small apartment and simple gadgets haha. You just have to make the most of it and remember that this is all for fun only 🥰
      It’s so special how there’s some younger folks like us who enjoy this underrated genre, and your channel is a one-stop place for the music and stories 😇 yesss, it makes my heart so warm when I see that older folks reminisce and enjoy listening to these “older tunes” from their younger days 🥲 haha, that’s why we get along quite well, we both love to conversate 🤣

    How long have you been playing for? Ive been playing for 18 years or so but not consistently.
    The piano is the hardest instrument in my opinion and requires consistent practice and sheet music reading in order to stay sharp.
    Tough.
    Well done by the way :).

      @Natt_piano  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi :) I’ve been playing since 2013 (not consistently), but during covid I really focused and dedicated myself to learning a lot :) (I’m like 90% self taught btw lol)
      You’ve been playing quite a long time! You’re so lucky 🙂
      I totally agree that you have to be consistent with the piano and practice often. I have to go back and play learned rags from time to time to make sure they’re in my muscle memory 😆
