    What a great teacher, without all the hype and crap that a lot of teachers have. Clear to the point of easy and clear understanding of teaching you, I really like this arrangement, keep up the great work, would love to see you do a lesson on Black Orpheus , peace and love from the uk ...

      Your method is so well paced Sandra. It certainly helps in learning, especially for older adults with a limited skill set like myself. All about improving! Have you done a tutorial for Skylark? These jazz standards you explain are wonderful to learn!

    I am playing guitar for 10 years, and when you said it's really reasy to learn and accessible to anyone, I was like "ok I should be able to learn in 10 minutes"... but.. am i the only one struggling here ? Those jazz fingers positions are killing me.

    • @GuitarversumSandraSherman
      @GuitarversumSandraSherman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should always, always know the basic jazz chords first, before attempting the king's discipline of Chord Melody.
      Check out my 2 chord tutorials:
      1) Basic Jazz 7th chords (+ explanation!): th-cam.com/video/Qx9hQrYx-8c/w-d-xo.html
      2) Jazz Tension chords: th-cam.com/video/86vKnTC8_QI/w-d-xo.html
      Otherwise you're just learning stuff by heart like a monkey. Understand what you're doing - theory helps a lot here too - and this one will be easy cheesy. So generally speaking, when I say "easy", I mean easy for Jazz :-)

    • @deborahnewman2617
      @deborahnewman2617 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Dont give up! Sandra's lesson on basic jazz chords is super helpful. Learn your roots on E and A and basic shapes then just play slowly. Getting the shapes in your muscle memory will come. I think of my fingers like origami, they fold and move around. Then music starts to come out🎶

    Hi Sandra, a poignant tune and it follows shortly after my soon-to-be-80 mother, on hearing louis Armstrong's version on TH-cam music last Sunday, said she wants to have it played at her funeral, but maybe she'll hear her son playing it on her birthday 🎂🤔.
    I hope you get over your cold quickly, but you know the old saying about a cold, it'll take two weeks to go if you treat it ( take a remedy) and a fortnight if you don't!

    • @GuitarversumSandraSherman
      @GuitarversumSandraSherman  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, your mom will love it when you play it for her for her next birthday. It's really easy! The video was shot a couple of weeks ago. But I feel like I'm getting a new cold and I'll shoot again on Saturday 😔

    Another great choice. I would truly enjoy lessons from the "Great American Songbook". There are so many wonderful tunes that easily adapt to chord melodies on the guitar. And at one per week, you can have an entire catalogue, in about say, 5 years? (Rod Stewart got 4 CD'S out of it.) Take your time, no rush :) Thanks for all your TH-cam lessons

      @abejacgot 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GuitarversumSandraSherman Thank you, I'll have to consider which I've had the most difficulty with, when I'm home later this evening, as I have been working on quite a few myself. But I'm certain I'd learn a lot from seeing and hearing your voicings/arrangements (I always do). I'll send you my first short list. There are so many great tunes from which to choose.
      As you surely know, I so appreciate everything you've done here to date. You've created a meaningful presence on TH-cam.

      @@GuitarversumSandraSherman Sorry for the delayed response. Life sometimes gets in the way. I looked at your catalog of lessons and, wow, you've covered a lot already. It is enough to keep any guitar student occupied for years. May I suggest, (what may take a series of lessons) would be, how to construct and arrange a chord melody. That said, here's a few songs that I didn't notice that might be interest to others as well. So.....in no particular order: The Nearness of You, Don't get around much Anymore, Stardust, also.... Desafinado, One Note Samba. If you've already covered any of these please forgive me. After these, I'll have no more requests for years. A million thank you's for all that you have done in providing "Joy to the World". Now that I've given it some more thought, I'm not quite done with my list. What do you think about teaching songs by Burt Bachrach? He's composed some really wonderful tunes.

    La Colère du PÈRE envers les rebelles.
    Vous devez changer, pas le Grand « JE SUIS », « JE SUIS » qui « JE SUIS » et JE ne présente aucune excuse pour ce que JE fais. JE ne rends de comptes à personne. Le grand YAHUVEH est en Colère et même MON FILS, celui que JE vous ai donné en tant qu'un SAUVEUR ne peut plus apaiser MA Colère encore longtemps. JE m'apprête à déverser une partie de MA Colère. Prenez garde tous ceux qui se moquent de MOI et de la Parole de YAHUSHUA et qui ont réduit au silence ceux qui ont l'onction de MES Messagers et ont été maltraités, torturés et emprisonnés dans les prisons de l'homme. JE SUIS en Colère ! J'ai prévenu Sodome et Gomorrhe et JE vous mets maintenant en garde encore une fois. Le monde est une Babylone des temps modernes, ce monde. JE SUIS le CRÉATEUR qui exige la Sainteté ; JE place en chaque humain un endroit qui désire la Sainteté et une relation avec leur CRÉATEUR.
    JE n'enverrai pas uniquement les volcans qui feront éruption par des réactions en chaîne, mais JE ferai secouer la terre comme un parent secoue un enfant désobéissant. JE vais secouer pas seulement une section de la terre en même temps, mais plusieurs sections de la terre en même temps. J'enverrai MES PIEDS qui piétineront le sol par colère. Car MA Colère est Grande envers les rebelles qui ont brandi leurs poings dans MON visage, et qui ont dit qu'ils refusaient d'obéir à un livre et aux instructions qui y sont écrites il y a tant de milliers d'années de cela. Pour ceux qui utilisent MON Nom comme un mot de malédiction. Pour ceux qui se moquent du Sang de MON FILS qui a été versé pour eux au Calvaire. J'enverrai les ouragans pour démontrer les larmes que J'ai versées sur MES enfants qui ne se repentent pas.

    As I was listening to Louis Armstrong, I wondered "Does Sandra have a tutorial for What a Wonderful World"... Sure enough, there it was! And although it was labeled "Easy" which some may equate "easy" with "simplistic", this is in my humble opinion, a beautiful arrangement for this song. Thank you Sandra!

      Thanks so much, Alain. So happy you enjoy it. If you wonder if I made a tutorial on a particular song, just type the song title plus "guitarversum" into the YT search box. Thanks for your support and watching so diligently :-)

    So much fun! Excellent teaching. This is my 3rd song from your arrangements. The other two are coming along, have them under my fingers but need a bit more smoothing out. It usually helps me to start working on another piece, then the previous one seems to come together as I review it. Couldn't be happier and more grateful for your work! Thank you

      I didn't like jazz, when I went to the conservatory. I just went there, bc the Pop and Blues stuff was already boring, so I wanted to learn new stuff. But then I found that the jazz tunes were cool to play and after about one year I really started to like jazz. You have to make your ears get used to the new sounds of Tension Chords.

    Merry Xmas 🎅 Good video… it is funny how you keep struggling to fret in every of your videos yet you are teaching… But what’s really funny is that some guy, in the comment section is asking you how do you “write” those beautiful lines… I know, people right?

    Yes, really helpful and easy but great arrangement, i like this chord progression....and i like your teaching, just what i look for, a plain lesson to give us the change to add a couple of licks in between chords when they need to be played, never taking in abuse....jazz is a subtle sort of art, it ain't showing off as it is metal shredding....cheers sandra....

    • @GuitarversumSandraSherman
      @GuitarversumSandraSherman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree with you, but I've encountered many jazz guitarists at sessions, noodling solos for hours. That's why I tell my students to sing their solos along (at least in their mind), so they have to breathe in between phrases, to stop the noodling.

    Thank you Sandra❤. This is genius and extraordinary. Can you please explain how these chords work. I am a beginner and can hardly think any chord beyond the basic 1,6,4,5 progression. I learned the jazz chords from your other lesson but dont understand how to apply them. Kindly direct me if you already have any lesson on this.Thanks again.

      Thanks so much for your kind words! ❤️ Unfortunately I can't explain the whole analysis of this song in written form here. Theres some secondary dominants in there (A7 resolving to Dm7) and tritone subs (Db7 replacing G7).
