I totally get how annoying it is that caps basically make your pc un-killable if you can spend them to stabilize, but all he has to do is just make a rule that they can't use them that way.
@@cameron.johnson I've run PF2e since day 1 and, while I've never TPKed a group in this system, I have permanently killed multiple characters. Hero Points stablize, yes, but they are still unconscious and not helped much in the middle of combat if the threat isn't handled. Most of the Hero Points in my sessions are often best used to reroll a critical failure, or to re-roll an attack you really want/need to hit. They are typically for fun moments like that and when the players know they will get rewarded with them later, they use them in interesting ways.

I will miss Gatewalkers. But I can't wait to see what comes next!! Bittersweet news here... but I will always love the GCP!
I've watched the Gate Walkers show since it was hyped up. I'm certainly going to miss it. While my comments are generally about how they play out the session, I love the story they tell. I look forward to your new show whatever it may be.
Thanks Troy! Excited for 2025. Sad about Gatewalkers. I certainly enjoyed the AP and show, but I do see why it might not be for everyone. Excited for what's next. BTW having listened to GCP since the beginning, you made me feel old as shit. 10 years 🎉
I'm disappointed that Gatewalkers is gonna be sunset. I was really loving the characters but I understand you gotta do what you gotta do to keep the whole audience happy. As long as the cast stays together I'm gonna watch whatever adventure you run as soon as I can.
Gatewalkers was my introduction to the GCN. Love it. Look forward to it every week. I am sad to see it go. Hoping that the next thing in line includes the same cast of players and Troy as the GM. I’m not a player but the show has made me interested in becoming one. Thanks to Joe, Sid, Matthew, Sydney and Kate for a great adventure.
I think ending Gate Walkers is a good decision. I personally love the adventure and where you guys have taken it but sometimes an AP just doesn't work. We've done the same thing at my personal table. 2/3 of the way through an adventure and it just wasn't the right fit. Stopped playing that adventure and switched and had a much better time. We weren't having a bad time before just not as much fun as we could be having. You guys are the best in the biz, keep up the Great work! Merry Christmas and Happy New Jawn!
LOVE GCN, LOVE TFC! Found you guys this year through Time for Chaos. My youtube review put Time For Chaos as my top podcast, which i listened to 330 hours of. Which adds up to about 3.5 rewatches. I was totally hooked and am so excited to see more asap
I was upset when they moved from 1e to 2e on the main show. But now I’m upset about the loss of gate walkers. I like the characters and the story. My biggest thing is I think you have to give out caps or go back to 1e. It’s hard to have it both ways.
Just throwing my 2 cents here (and totally not subjective) : I enjoy more shorter adventure /campaigns - 4, 10 or 20 episodes. And pretty often, I would watch series based on systems I am interested at that moment. Excited for the news and for the channel in 2025!
100% I think shorter campaigns is the way to go. They could even use a standalone published adventure like "Shadows at Sundown", just to mention one, and make it into a campaign, given how many episodes it will take to finish it.
How will you and the crew change the way you play the game that will make this next venture in pf2e better? it didn't seem like "gritty" limiting hero points got the results you were looking for. That said I am starting to vibe with GW and hope it wraps up neatly for you. I look forward to your next venture whatever that is. More, I'd love to see another season of Voyagers of the Jump. Traveller is one of my favorite systems and I always want more.
Love everything you do! Hopefully we get something hilarious like the old side quest side sesh. Those episodes had me in stitches 😂 Good luck for the future Troy and GCP!! The best out there in the business! Happy new year 2025!!!!
Thanks Troy! Been listening since early 2016. GCP got me through law school, the bar exam, and many other challenges. Love you guys. Will try to make it to the Austin show next year. Happy holidays!
I’ve loved this network since the beginning. Things wish we still had: - Grant Berger - A more team/friend atmosphere. It seems very corporate these days - which has to happen I guess. I just used to really connect with the gang and feel like I was at the table with them. Now I feel like I’m watching a show. - I love Troy’s GMing and style but lately his posts seem a bit dictatorial and bossy with unilateral decision making. I liked the buddies playing a game teamwork the way it used to be. I hope they regain some of that in 2025. They are a great group but back to the roots with less corporate mess would be nice to see. Take care Naish!!!!
I am glad that Gatewalkers is getting axed. Much as I enjoy the playing and GMing, the AP itself lacks a lot that really gave us a chance to get attached to the PCs in Giantslayer and Strange Aeons. I'm WAY happier to support a network that knows when something isn't working and is willing to pivot, versus certain other TTRPG shows hard committing to a downhill path for years because they can't or don't want to change.
Yeah, I had fun listening but it's so many sessions in and there's nothing to ground us. It feels like a bunch of oneshots with the same cast. Bring on a new adventure, hopefully homebrew because APs are a ball and chain for an experienced group.
I'm sorry to see Gate Walkers go, but I'm excited for what the future has in store for my Glass Cannon! Thanks for the update Troy, you're appreciated! Love you guys!
Here's hoping the new show lands better than Gatewalkers. I'd suggest Season of Ghosts or Seven Dooms for Sandpoint. I would also highly recommend being unafraid of altering the AP encounters if they aren't well balaneced. As much as Paizo gets the math right, it doesnt mean a single PL+3 encounter is the same player experience as 3 or 4 PL +0 or PL -1 enemies. When in doubt, build wide not tall.
2 or 3 Fods back, Troy commented, "Well we don't record Gate Walkers anymore..." Or something along those lines. At the time I assumed it was because the cat fight resulted in a TPK and somehow they let that little slip get through the edit. Now I'm wondering if he had already decided to drop GW as a show. I'm gonna miss Brother Ramoo and Barnes!
THANK YOU for not putting this directly on the weekend of Origins this year! Many people might have to choose between the two, but I at least can still stop in my local con to play games after taking this trip.
Don't know if anyone has made this guess for the Buggles contest and given the recent developments, I figured I'd better shoot my shot: My guess is the inspiration is from Wheel Of Time. Rand and Moridin's situation seems similar and there's the whole Car'a'carn prophecy [spelling of this prophecy made me think I might be on the right track]. Rand and Moridin become a thing when their balefire crossed in Shadar Logoth. My other guess is Jodie/Aiden from the video game Beyond Two Souls.
I discovered you guys a few months ago when the infamous Sydney's Doing Math clip went around the interwebs. I've loved everything you guys have done and really hope you reconsider removing Gatewalkers. I love how you all play, you play like how I used to many years ago with my old group. Too many people complain saying you are playing "wrong". There is no wrong way to play, the GM sets the rules for campaign. You can follow as many or non of the rules as you want, as long as everyone is having fun. I'll continue to watch whatever you put out but please keep Gatewalkers.
Gatewalker characters are interesting to me. I really was looking forward to the back stories as the game unfolded. There are lulls in it for sure, but I can say that about Strange Aeons. I sloughed through the whole book about the boat trip, it felt like it was written originally as a filler book (imo). I also feel like Troy is correct with the pacing for SA. We have been in the Mysterium for WAY too long. I just hope SA is going to be on TH-cam after the stream for all of the hundreds of hours watching, I would like to continue to see it through. Pulse MORE VOYAGERS please! Get Seth, Mathew and the crew back!!
Wishing the very best to the GCN crew - the players, the folks behind the scenes like McD and Francis, all the founders and their families and of course the NAISH - this Holiday season. Wishing you, peace, joy, and good fortune. Hey Troy - are you a Curious Caterer fan? Not sure if you're watching Hallmark Mystery. Merry Troy-mas!
My two cents on Gatewalkers is that the AP needs more Objective. It feels like it's written like a season of Sliders, where the group bounces from place to place through gates and just have a mini adventure, but it doesn't feel like they really have a drive to get anywhere. I guess 'back home' but it doesn't feel pressing and the gate jumps feel arbitrary. Giant Slayer for me really dragged during the part at the Giant Basecamp for a similar reason; they're here because this is where the book says they go. And not to put too fine a point on it, but without Grant around minmaxing or lucksacking the damage, the group just struggles with combat. This iteration of the GPC group's forte is really in the characters and their interactions with each other and NPCs, and I think that really shows through in Strange Aeons. If/when GCP spins up again, I think it would benefit from an AP that is more city based instead of "go into the woods and hit Random on the Bestiary" style APs.
First The FOD and now Gatewalkers... I started listening and got caught up on both during a single very long road trip I took this year. Got hooked and I'm going to start listening to Strange Aeons. I really enjoy Gatewalkers, but I do think it's more so that I really enjoy GCP. When the AP started I was thinking wow this is awesome and I even proposed that we play at my home table, but as the story kind of jumped around I started to see why many people don't recommend that AP and I'm glad I didn't start playing. Excited to see what the next Pf2e AP will be on GCP though.
Pitch for an AP, the performers play all the characters who've died across the APs and they have to fight their way back from a Nexus like Netherworld. How cool would that be, even as a one-shot to get closure on those beloved characters we've lost throughout the years or finally get that juicy backstory jawn!
Man, something like Traveller or cyberpunk RED or Root, nevermind the system, but I'd like to see something that is thematically different from the sort of CoC/DG/Blades/GW vibe.
Stuff like this is why I love the GCP, they're willing to look at something and say "this isn't working" and change things up for the good of the show. There's way too many actual plays that don't have that level of maturity and accountability. Excited for what comes next
I've listened to everything GCN has ever put out and the problems of gatewalkers are not unique. The combat fatigue is reminiscent to book two of strange aeons, the only thing that made that watchable was the rotating cast, random characters thrown in kept it fresh. That isn't possible in the GW format so we see the same characters constantly struggle for 7 straight weeks with no change which isn't great tv. The characters are underpowered and can't reasonably defeat the challenges posed to them in a reasonable amount of time. This reminded me of the slog of Joe's dead characters around the urgathoa gauntlet in Giantslayer. That resolved well only because of the high DPS builds that cut the battle times in half. Obviously the bad luck didn't help but I've done the math and if you were using automatic bonus progression or had just awarded enough striking runes for the front liners, there's no way Asta dies. It would have cut combat times down by about a third too. Too late now but if you're playing for the entertainment of viewers, consideration needs to be given to how to streamline combats and maximise good role play. Good role play should be rewarded with bottle caps which then streamlines the combat further. 5 PCs is automatically adding bloat to the fights and correcting combat balance for that extra player can also add even more bloat. The fumbles add bloat, the crits add bloat, playing up the severity of the dying condition every time adds bloat. The end result is a show that just feels off for some people but nobody can pin down exactly why. My advice as a GM who always has 5 players, is to make sure their character sheets are actually good. Nobody should have anything other than a +4 in their primary attribute at level one unless it's a class with a multi attribute requirement. Everyone needs to keep in line with expected progression, striking runes, potency, armour potency and actually useful artifacts. Struggling through encounters EVERY time isn't fun. The struggle should be in high stakes situations against meaningful adversaries where a death is poetic not frustrating. Finally, foundry VTT is your sponsor, you could at least use it to automate things more. Things like tracking hp, persistent damage, concealment, spell durations, distances between tokens and to hit rolls you could do with zero effort. Then Norse Foundry dice can shine in important moments, death saves, last hurrah strikes, max level spells, important roleplay moments etc. so those dice feel special and your other sponsor is happy too. Tl;dr I enjoy all your shows, gatewalkers is/was entirely salvageable with minor tweaks to loot, builds and bottle caps and I truly hope you start automating more through foundry.
Hyped about everything. Conflicted about the main show though, I was a Gatewalkers stan, but thats because I like everything the crew does. I love the idea of longer SA episodes!
I was at the Portland Strange Aeons when you ended book 2. It was an amazing night. I’ve been listening to Androids and Aliens and Strange Aeons is finally on deck. With it leaving the tour and you playing once a month will it still come onto Spotify for podcasts listeners? I listen to all my GCN content in the car every morning :)
could you make the discord public and have roles for paying members so it can increase your conversions? id love to be a part of the community but i have no idea if its worth it.
I offer this up as an idea: why not keep Gatewalkers but let someone take the GM seat? That happens at my table all the time, when we change it up for lots of different reasons. Doesn't sound like it was considered as an option. Also, everything that has been said that can about hero points. Either play RAW or accept that storytelling is going to be infinitely harder because you are dropping characters at the rate of once a quarter. And finally, I am baffled by the "Know your character better" crowd. Picking up a new class in a rules dense TTRPG like Pathfinder 2E at a level above 1 isn't the easiest thing in the world.
For me, it felt like it took a long time for the characters to level up in gatewalkers. I think the story was on par with any ap I've seen or heard of, but the characters struggled a lot to make it to the next level. 🤷♂️ Also, it's only 3 books and you're in book 2. I hope something happens that gets you to change your mind. Either way, I appreciate you guys
A lot of good spirits in the comments that i dont think watched untill the end. kinda sad about Gatewalkers, but if the GM is not hyped, then thats its. Better to finish it in a high note. #neverforgetlucky #neverforgetasta
I am very sorry to hear about Gatewalkers. But recognize that this is your decision (and I hope it is a team decision and not just Troy’s). I will be along for the ride wherever it takes you guys. At least the free content :)
Nothing feels more Canadian than watching someone drink eggnog out of the top of of a moose skull while talking about Christmas movies. That said, I'm excited to hear about Strange Aeons coming to a recorded marathon format, and excited to see the new live-play adventure that will be happening. I'm sad to hear that Gatewalkers is ending, as it was something I really looked forward on Thursday night, but I understand that sometimes a campaign will simply not quite click, and have to bow to the decision to let come to an earlier conclusion. If that means it frees up time to put towards 2025's offerings, I'm all for it though. Still the best damn TTRPG network in my eyes.
Yeah, I was listening to GW mostly out of habit but it was not really hitting with me. I was holding out hope it would get that moment where I'd be like "Yep! This is actually awesome! Can't wait to see what happens!" but nope. I thought it was about to when they were planet hopping but the combat dragged it down, and they just ended back up on Galarian instead of another cool planet locale.
Love you guys Troy, ive been listening for years and fell in love with Giantslayer, I agree about Gatewalkers, unfortunately it turned off my friends I was trying to introduce to the show that felt it was too boring, i hope i can convince them to look again with the new campaign.
I’ll be honest, I know very little about Pathfinder, or Gatewalkers…. That’s not what had me watching the occasional show. I came back because you have an amazing cast of players, and more importantly role-players/actors that can bring to life some of the most amazing characters I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching in a game. The GCN cast has me coming back every time. Why? Because everyone is fun to watch, no matter what they’re doing. This is GCN’s secret weapon. Provide the cast with a juicy storyline that emphasizes role-play,and story, and downplay the combat a little. Let your cast really get into their characters, and their development. Drama, and cliffhangers galore! Do this, and I can see every show being enormously popular. Your fan base already knows, and loves your cast. Give them something that showcases their talents. Time for Chaos is a great example of this. Just my 2 cents.
Wait hold up you cancel the main flagship show but mention nothing about it's replacement? Guys... We just want a simple but long adventure path like giant slayer with the main cast that's reliable and on time every week. That's it. That's what we originally fell in love with. I send you guys money every month not for the different cast and games, I send it because I want to support just one show that's on every week that's a normal pathfinder campaign 😞 I love the other stuff. But I would give it all up for just another giant slayer

the scroll list of episodes in spotify to get to the first 50 is a few good swipes 😁
Having a live show campaign that leads up to a full year climax sounds really cool. Looking forward to it!
@SrTNick1 this does sound cool...and my money is on Joe rolling rocks the whole way through.
It’s been suggested by fans for years, glad Troy’s finally making a change.

Do season of ghosts with the gatewalkers cast, it would rock
It’s a great fit for their group and Troy as a GM. It’s also much easier than other APs which might be a welcome change for the group
I really enjoyed Gat Walkers, I am sad to hear it go. Excited to see where it goes from here though :)
Gat walkers could be a side quest with all gunslingers in the party lol
State of the Naish! Let's go!
LOVE GCN, LOVE TFC!
Found you guys this year through Time for Chaos. My youtube review put Time For Chaos as my top podcast, which i listened to 330 hours of. Which adds up to about 3.5 rewatches. I was totally hooked and am so excited to see more asap
BLADES IN THE DARK PLEASE
I’m excited Troy.
Thank you for getting us all here. I look forward to where you continue to take us.
Have a wonderful Christmas my friend.
Thanks! You too!
I'll miss Gatewalkers. I looked forward to it every week which is uncommon for me when it comes to ttrpg podcasts.
I was upset when they moved from 1e to 2e on the main show. But now I’m upset about the loss of gate walkers. I like the characters and the story. My biggest thing is I think you have to give out caps or go back to 1e. It’s hard to have it both ways.
I have loved Gate Walkers, and will be sad to see it go. I hope that you at least wrap it up and have a cohesive story conclusion.
I didn't realize that you all did a retreat. That's really cool that you would put that together for members of the nation. Keep being awesome!
Troys audio lvls are so much better on YT thank heavens i missed stuff last night due to low volume
Love everything you do! Hopefully we get something hilarious like the old side quest side sesh. Those episodes had me in stitches 😂 Good luck for the future Troy and GCP!! The best out there in the business! Happy new year 2025!!!!
Happy New Year!
Damn. I really like Gatewalkers, but I know I’ll love the new show as usual.
Thanks Troy! Been listening since early 2016. GCP got me through law school, the bar exam, and many other challenges. Love you guys. Will try to make it to the Austin show next year. Happy holidays!
I’ve loved this network since the beginning.
Things wish we still had:
- Grant Berger
- A more team/friend atmosphere.
Thanks! 2025 is gonna be AMAZING!
Troy homebrew adventure!? Stoked! Been wanting Troy to do a fantasy homebrew campaign forever
I'm on episode 151 of Giantslayer so this Ascension thing has me excited. Looking forward to seeing how Gatewalkers is wrapped up too.
Listened to the SotN and the Q and A with Troy. I was pretty shocked by cancelling Gatewalkers. I hope Troy can find something he's excited about.
Hoping there is a Blades in the Dark announcement in this
I was hoping for the same, I feel like Haunted City is one of the most popular and beloved GCN shows.
Nogs up, Naish!
Blades in the Dark and Voyagers of the Jump.
Aw yeah! So glad y'all are coming back to Austin! Just bought my tick for front and center!
And Buggles! What a fun character.
THANK YOU for not putting this directly on the weekend of Origins this year! Many people might have to choose between the two, but I at least can still stop in my local con to play games after taking this trip.
Don't know if anyone has made this guess for the Buggles contest and given the recent developments, I figured I'd better shoot my shot:
My guess is the inspiration is from Wheel Of Time.
All power to you guys! Keep it up. Bring on more CoC! I don't follow the PF campaigns so no big loss for audience members like myself.
LET'S GOOO 2025 NAISH!!! :D
Oh thank god, the bit sticking out on the glass is the moose's nose.
Next AP should be KINGMAKER. Replacement for BITD, The One Ring 😅
Pitch for an AP, the performers play all the characters who've died across the APs and they have to fight their way back from a Nexus like Netherworld. How cool would that be, even as a one-shot to get closure on those beloved characters we've lost throughout the years or finally get that juicy backstory jawn!
I'm here before those who didn't catch it live even know, buckle up kiddos
Haunted City? Voyager of the Jump?
Look into Seasons of Ghosts AP. or Fists of the Ruby Phoenix
Merry Christmas Troy, you ole sonofagun!
Man, something like Traveller or cyberpunk RED or Root, nevermind the system, but I'd like to see something that is thematically different from the sort of CoC/DG/Blades/GW vibe.
Naishe coming to Vegas June 2025! Woohoo! Looking forward to hosting you all in the City of Sin.
I'm really excited! Sad to see Gatewalkers go, but I can't wait for whatever you come up with next for the flagship
I'm just waiting for CG to announce that their live tour 2025 will include Montréal Canada
More Blades in the Dark with the core Glass Cannon peeps and Jared please.
Seth Skorkowsky introduced me to y’all and Delta Green made me stay! Checked out the Rambo show too in NYC and cemented myself as a fan!
I loved the Seth Skorkowsky guest appearance! Need more of Seth and other special guests!
Need Seth back for Voyagers of the Jump season 3
could you make the discord public and have roles for paying members so it can increase your conversions? id love to be a part of the community but i have no idea if its worth it.
HEAR YE HEAR YE, THE STATE OF THE NAISH IS AVAILABLE TO THE GAMING PUBLIC
I was really hoping 2025 was the year you made it to Europe for a love show 😢
Time for Chaos Season 3 coming is very good news indeed!
I'd love some WoD Campaign to come back Jared style, like Vampires of Pittsburgh, god I loved that show
For me, it felt like it took a long time for the characters to level up in gatewalkers.
It’s about more than the GM. The players were clearly not enjoying, and a significant portion of the fan base didn’t love it either
I am very sorry to hear about Gatewalkers. But recognize that this is your decision (and I hope it is a team decision and not just Troy’s). I will be along for the ride wherever it takes you guys. At least the free content :)
Pumped for GCP in MKE!!! Not gonna lie, late March weather is going to be just awful. Truly horrifically awful. See you there!
Well I'm excited for the new year with GCP
Troy: I'm gonna be out of here in like 15-20 minutes tops
Me: *checking time stamp* oof he was way off
Voyagers of the Jump season 3, PLEASE!!!
Please start another adventure path, Triumph of the Tusk maybe, I don’t really enjoy the live ones as much, it’s a different vibe.
I send you guys money every month not for the different cast and games, I send it because I want to support just one show that's on every week that's a normal pathfinder campaign 😞
I love the other stuff. But I would give it all up for just another giant slayer
Exactly this.
Your intention might just be to pay for the one show but that's not really your call.
The money in actuality does just go to all that other stuff.
Give more bottle caps in GCP, as the Gatewalkers seems interesting. BUT like folks said, think about Season of Ghosts.
