I have to say that I disagree about the closed relationships.
My theory on an open relationship is that I never want someone to feel that I "own" them nor them me.
I will never want someone to feel that they can't fulfill other desires that they may have because they are with me.
If true love means anything, it means that you love someone so much that your only care and wish is for them to feel happiness and joy within themselves.
I can never "own" another person in a relationship. No kind human being ever wants to own another.
All you can do is love.
Love them no matter (unless it is physical, mental or verbal abuse) what.
The only problems with open relationships is setting, and abiding by, the ground rules as to how it will work.
Things like overnight stays or home every night?
Will we talk about who they are or what we did?
Can we all have fun together or is it strictly one-on-one between you and them?
An open and honest discussion of rules in a relationship go along way whether straight, bi or gay.
To be honest...if someone in a relationship is going to screw around they will find a way to do it.
It is better for both involved just to be upfront and honest.
