I am losing the hearing in one of my ears and the other one is starting to act up now so i am learning ASL just in case i need it and i am teaching my daughter as well. she is 10 and she picks it up so much faster then i do. But i wanted to say thank you for all the videos they are so helpful for someone like me who is learning from books and TH-cam and the interwebs!! So again thank you and sending so much love to you and your family i hope you are all doing well.

If you don’t mind did doctors say how the loosing started my daughter was loosing in right ear 9 mo later the left now has aids on Both ears she is 23 years old this started at age 21 and doctors have no clue she does not listen to loud music

10/10. Thank you, Meredith for encouraging me to read... the... word... instead of to look at individual letters. In the words of my ASL instructors, "Your best bet is to read it." We had fingerspelling bee-type things in class. Sometimes I get tired reading long words, but it seems to be the best way for me to improve my receptive skills. What suggestions can you offer me to not get tired reading words?
Hey Meredith, I‘m a 17-year old student from Germany and this year my fellow students and I are supposed to write a technical paper on a topic we choose. I plan to write about ASL and wondered if you would be willing to be interviewed by me? 😊 That is still a few months away (around January/February) but since we should have a clear idea about what exactly we are going to write, I wanted to ask you now already 🙈
That's great. I live in the USA, and we had a similar assignment in my ASL class. My topic was cochlear implants. I hope your assignment goes well. Enjoy the learning process.

I'm very excited to start fingerspelling in Miami-Dade College North Campus.
I'm still so bad at this! I read each letter and get lost after 4 letters. Keep posting these quizzes!

Your videos have helped so much, but What is the best way, to find a sign. I know how to do it but I can't remember what it means.
It's the 'g' right side up, or racing upwards.
When I type it in Google it tells me it means heart. I know that's not correct
It is tougher to “read”’ finger spelling because you’re only getting each letter one at a time where reading text you get to see all the letters at once.
So I try to sound out the letters as being shown in my head instead of thinking what the letter is.
In any event, I still need a lot of practice!!!
Ah, this was definitely harder than it looks! I know fingerspelling in my native sign language, but thought I'd do okay with ASL - turns out, nope, so many signs are different or, even worse, the same hand position codes for a different letter of the alphabet. Definitely encourages me to try and review my ASL fingerspelling.

My ELA teacher wanted to learn sign language so I send her some of your videos and some deaf teachers that were teaching me like bill vicars 😅👍🏾👾👾👾👾
Found out my 2D baby cousin is 4 and deaf, and most of my family is learning sign language ✌🏾👾👾👾👾been learning sign language since since 3rd grade I’m now a freshman

Hey Meredith, I love this sign language lesson. I don’t really like finger spelling much because I find them a little too fast but I’m willing to try my best at it. Thank you so much for this because I wanted to try asl when I was younger but I couldn’t really find anything good for me so I appreciate it and once again Thank you.
Hi! I just wanted to let you know you can slow the speed of the video if you need to make it easier! Look at the top right corner of the video, and click on the gear/settings icon, and then click playback speed. Hope this helped! 💙
