You are correct, there's a lot of foreshadowing... but like, the opening is revealing something from *_Volume 13_* which if it ever got animated, would be _Season 5_ of this show.

I just got the 15th volume of the light novel. I love, love, love the story. They are flying through the content in the anime, but I can’t notice any flaws because I love the books so much. I am so excited to see my characters in action!

This is rarely seen with Isekai where our MC who dies is reincarnated into a person who is still living and now shares his new life with that of another caring the identity of that person with his memories mixed with the other. There was one anime I've seen this done before that was well written and it was Ascendance of a Bookworm where our Librarian/ Bookworm died and was reincarnated into the life of another person which turns out to be a new beginning for a girl who already suffered a tragic fate.
I find isekai anime of this nature to be unique and somewhat enjoyable since the person still living ends up getting memories of the person who reincarnated into him while also getting his/her skills and experiences while that isekai'd person slowly accepting everything around him. For the case of Spirit Chronicles it looks like our MC isn't the only person who got isekai'd.
In Ascendance of a Bookworm, the main character is reincarnated in the body, more or less replacing the original soul/spirit/personality. Here, it’s two people sharing the same mind and body, but they are not fighting for control.
@@VictorSwamps Well that's close enough but they do share body and mind so. It's still considered a unique case for isekai anime. The case for Ascendance is that the original person was already dead.

I love those animes where it is usually the same guy retextured with a new coat and he is an average joe till he suddenly plays darksouls for one day and parries someone, becoming the ultimate sword master badass and getting a harem going. Nice anime to watch I guess?

I’m so glad I was for once able to find an anime where it was ended too short but the creators came in clutch and official said there was gonna be a season two in 2023. This is the start of 2023. Happy New Years everyone and hopefully the season two for this anime doesn’t take too long to come out 😁
