Revisiting this in 2024, Celtics acquiring Porzingis and Holliday have payed off, need 3 more wins to put the dagger.

I am too. I like that kid. However, as Bill Belichick said, the best ability for a player is AVAILABILITY! Rob was always hurt and can only play no more than 17 minutes a game. and could not be counted on to make his free throws at the end of the game.

Williams has always been a very good role player but not a dominant force. The man is not a bully in the paint at all, is not a dynamic dunker or shooter. Bronson got exposed in the playoffs, the man was completely ineffective when it was called on him to do so.
Jruw Holidays is better than both and Marcus Smart was good defensively but not a game changer by any means and he was liabilities on the offense. The man would always try to take these Steph Curry like shots all the time and miss, only occasionally making the three. The C's lost a lot of games due to the fact that Smart went far too much into hero ball and was pretending to be something he isn't.
Jrue is an all star level shooter and he plays way better defense than Smart and the man is a legit point guard
Love Rob. Sad to see him go. Also, Brogdon was a soldier for us up until we tried trading him for Zinger. Two very good players. But man...the top 6 + solid role players on this roster is pretty nuts. I think this is our best team since 08
He was good until Brogdon got shut down in the playoffs and got benched.
the starters may come up equal to the 2008 team, but there is no Kendrick Perkins on this team (yet). Porzingas isn't exactly the rugged type to hang your entire season on.

This is a great move for the c’s. Although I hate to see Rob go we were never able to have him at full strength in the playoffs. I do worry about big matchups against the big centers as its a lot on Al’s plate. Still this is a no brainer, this dude is an elite defender and a team guy first and foremost. You won’t have to worry about a guy not named Tatum or Brown taking the last shot. Jrue will make sure it gets to them.
The thing is everyone is asking "How are the Celtics going to guard the big men", it goes both ways how many teams can now guard Jrue, White, Brown, Tatum AND Porzingis?
Any team wanting to guard the Celtics now needs TWO elite wing defenders, a big man who can guard the perimeter which is incredibly rare and solid to ok guard defenders.
This team is very top heavy. No bench depth whatsoever. Good luck with that..
Milwaukee Bucks have Bobby Portis, Jae Crowder, Malik Beasley, Robin Lopez to name a few. Plus, I would love to see grandpa Horford try to match up against the towers of Power Giannis and Brook Lopez

I like the move Time lord stayed injured and Malcom stayed in his feelings about possibly being traded which isn't healthy for the locker room, but it opens up minutes for Payton Pritchard, and Sam Hauser who will be needed to step up big time Incase Kristraps or Al Horford gets injured yea Celtics will need another big man but we also have D white as back up to add to the depth of this team please keep in mind Jordan Walsh will be a great replacement for Time Lord let's keep in mind Brad also added Lamar Stevens we will be fine on Frontline when it comes to our defense

I don't think players get traded like Vegas chips in the NFL. Damn, I can't even remember a really outstanding trade recently. Who trades in the NFL? Jimmy Johnson once did, but now in the era of Free Agency there are pretty good reasons not to even seek trades. We know Bill can score guys like Randy Moss but look how many things have to go right for something like that to happen. Things would not go all right for a Tyreek Hill like it did for Randy. Some of these NFL moves involve a lot of timing and luck that you cannot just create by wishing for it. The other thing is the type of relationship a Bill would have with the other team. Sometimes it's ideal, and sometimes far less than that. I think he has a good relationship with teams like the Titans and Texans, and so it does surprise me a little that he didn't get in on the AJ Brown action. Maybe he tried, I don't know, but Brown would have been a true game changer.
This was a dumb trait from the Celtics. They gave up brogden, williams, and two first round draft picks for a guy that can leave them next summer (player option) for nothing in return. The Portland trail blazers have had the best offseason of any team. They traded Damian Lillard, and in return they transformed that into two first round draft picks, Malcolm brogdon, williams, and deandre ayton. Of course Portland gave up they're always injured center in exchange for Aiden but it would not have happened without the Lillard trade.

To a fan perspective it a f**king good trade but to a basketball you gave up 2 key role players one your rebounder n rim protector n the other your best bench player that was 6th of year n this clowns don't realize how much there gonna miss them especially if porzingis can't stay healthy for the year.

WILLIAMS Brogdon and two first round picks. I don’t think holiday is worth that. I am a diehard Celtics fan so I hope I am wrong. Still excited about the trade but now we don’t have Brogdon coming off the bench and we don’t have WILLIAMS download with Porziņģis.

All in all…Jru Holiday is a solid point guard that is well balance/defensively & offensively without a doubt. Losing jru will hurt the Bucks more than their gain with Lillard

celtics started the season small last year because rob was out. but Tatum shouldn't be playing the PF spot, Horford should be starting but on minutes restrictions. It's going to hard to find a replacement for Rob rebounds, blocks, and passes the ball well.
jrue is a 2 way player in regular season, but is like marcus smart come playoffs time. So, good luck

@@jamirbingham4101 I don't know the numbers and all but I watched those games and that man was shooting bricks in all three post seasons he was with us, in 2021 it was fine cause we had giannis and middleton carrying the offence but once middleton was down, bruh jrue was really mad annoying. But I assume you guys got jaysun and jaylen, so you will be fine but yeah he ain't to damn 2 way player come playoff time, he also said in one of his postgame interviews that in playoffs it take a lot of effort defensively that his offence is compromised.

Here's how to answer that question, "Yes, they are better off now than they would have been had they traded for Dame Lillard because any trade for Dame would have included Brown and Smart. So you would have Dame and no Brown, Smart, Jrue Holiday, or Porzingis and would likely have to ship Grant Williams either way." If they would have went for Dame they would be a worse version of the Bucks right now, with even worse defense and much worse offense.
EDIT: Not saying that it would have been a bad team but they would be aiming for the 4th seed and hoping to reach the ECF with Dame. As they are currently constructed they are picking and choosing who they would like to face most from the West for the chip.
Not to mention Lillard didn't even want to play for BOS...I honestly don't think he wants to play for MIL either lol..he was trying to make it to south beach

Considering we would only see him for 40 games a year I don’t see what’s the problem. They don’t need the third big to be a star, someone like Kornet, or Queta is fine for coming off the bench. If they protect the rim, rebound and finish easy opportunities in the paint that’s all the organization needs from them. Rob Williams was never healthy for a playoff run and he was the only rim protection they had. Once they acquired Porzingis, the writing was on the wall for Rob. Those two couldn’t realistically play together regardless. Porzingis will be in the post while rob would be clogging the lane in the dunkers spot.
@@reese5545, I agree but it’s just that the ceiling was high for Rob, if healthy he’d be an asset to any organization and personally he’d reminded me a lot of Ben Wallace with the minutes he played on the court.
@@bjzach we’ve been saying if he’s healthy for 5+ years now. He’s not going to be healthy, matter of fact he’s only been trending down. In the playoffs he was getting killed on the glass by smaller players and he’s too small himself to be a problem for guys like Embiid or Giannis.
