Thanks Tom…just what we’ve been waiting for. Leased the i3 to kill time until they work out the i4 bugs you mentioned and ones yet to come. After a month of driving we like the regenerative braking. Release the accelerator a little at a time to vary the effect. The different levels of braking is kinda built in, so to speak.

Can't wait to see the base car review. I'll take the extra 55 miles of range over a little more acceleration. Let's hope they improve the charge curve in the midrange. Over all the base car will be a very good road tripper. Probably do 600 mile challenge with just two stops.

@@hiravparekh8695 For me, base i4 is definitely the better choice than the model 3. Between build quality, interior and exterior styling, and the trunk instead of the fastback, and the lack of options, the model 3 is beat by the i4 for me. Not to mention, its sounding like the i4 may drive better than the model 3 (but I'm still not sure based off the review). I like Tesla, but I'm glad there's finally options for people like me who prioritize things more than straight line acceleration.

The rule is that you need to keep a distance of speed in kph / 2 in meters, e.g. if your drive 150kph you need to keep a minimum distance of 75m or more than 15 car lengths. Hope the Ford Lightneing puts that myth to rest (but I won't hold my breath). And I can't really blame anyone for believing in the myth, since crappy compliance BEVs of the past, made it seem like a dedicated platform was the only option to make descent BEV. Price is not the same when you want basic features and tech in your BMW as they're sold as optional extras, whereas everything is included as standard when buying a Tesla. BMW will charge you £3000 for this blue paint here in UK, £1350 for the 20" wheels, £500 for carbon trim on dash, £1500 for LED Laser Light, heated steering and keyless entry for £1200, parking cameras and driving assist for £1900, tiny glass sunroof for £1050 etc. So with these techs and features, car already costs £72,505.00. Tesla Model 3 Performance that already comes with all the safety techs, cameras, autopilot, 20 inch wheels, heated seats, glass panorama roof etc only costs £59,990 and you get 1000 free Supercharger miles. BMW is a ripped off in comparison. Price is not even comparable as BMW is poverty speced without adding options. Tesla has longer range, a lot lighter, 3.1 secs 0 to 60 a lot faster. too

German cars are generally built much heavier because they have higher crash standards than American cars. You have to remember those cars are designed for you to crash at 150 mph on the Autobahn with a good chance of walking away from it. Many of those same add-ons are included with the M3LR and M3P. One should do a price comparison that includes similar specs from the add-ons
      For example:
      $500 heated seats
      $875 upgraded speakers
      $200 wireless phone charger

When I track my cars I almost never look at the actual gauge cluster. I know how fast I'm going by the sound of the engine and the gear. I use that to gauge if I'm coming into a corner too hot. After driving a few Teslas I can appreciate that they added a little sound because of how numb electric cars are as far as feedback is concerned since everything is electronic drive by wire and Tesla especially designs their cars to be Uber quiet.

When Tesla comes out with the new version of the Model Y, with the 4680 battery and front and rear castings then they’re really going to be able to turn the screw on the legacy manufacturers.

You cannot do that or take full advantage of an EV without creating a pure EV platform and this right here shows it. They’ve had to shove a ton of extra batteries in it to get a piffling range. This of course also means that they cannot afford to sell many and certainly cannot reduce prices - their costs in batteries versus their competitors due to this decision to go with a shared EV/ICE platform dictate that.
