- For me, this was the opportunity of a lifetime!!! I finally tried on traditional Khmer/Thai dress and makeup!
Kania Slerkchher, who is running for Miss Queen Cambodia, invited me to get my makeup done by his own makeup artist Chan Ra. He arranged for us all to meet at Reasa Mongkul Wedding Shop on the outskirts of town.

They are all same migrated from india into Burma(Myanmar), Thailand, Laos and Cambodia, also Southern China like Yunnan and some Southern Vietnam. Many foreigners accused Cambodian people for steal Thai traditional clothes and music, because many foreigners don’t know Thai and Khmer are family.
They add layers depend on weather.
Tribes as Native people in Cambodia are Chinese and their natives dress are different and they still dress today.
Same as in Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Myanmar.
@¡Estupendo! Good things you learned more history and culture of people than I learned. I can see that’s why people still against each other today about their traditional of clothes. It’s not my things to argument, but I would be very happy they all take their traditional of clothes like kami and return back to india where islamic radical is. they can retake their territory from Islamic radical in india and pakistan than to boast about their pride and fight in territories of tribes in Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. I like tribes clothes best fit in Southern Asia’s weather, because they are simply made by cotton and comfortable in mud and rain when they work in rice fields without worry about dirty.
I like all people in Southern Asia, it doesn’t matter if they are Siamese from Yunnan or not. You can see people’s today they wear simply clothes everyday in Southern Asia.

@@juliahaw Yes, everyone has the right to wear a Thai dress at a wedding regardless of the national dress. But it's wrong to understand that this dress is a Khmer dress. Khmer teenagers are popular with Thai dresses, they watch Thai media and follow. The Cambodian government has issued a warning. This set originated in Ayutthaya, Siam, is called Sbai.
@@juliahaw cambidia got influence from Thai period series few years ago. And they get confused that it's their dress, which is not. Their actual dress doesn't look like this. So it cannot call Cambodia and Thai. Please correct your understanding.

Anyways, Cambodian people can claim Thai dress and promote it. This is why Thailand welcomes over 40 millions tourists yearly, while Cambodia welcomes around 3 millions tourists.

They copy Thai traditional dresses since 2018. This Thai traditional dress called "Thai Chakkri". Queen Sirikit design it since year 1960. They copy every culture form Thai and claim it.

Cambodia used to be a colony of Thailand for more than 500 years and currently imports 60-70% of Thai costumes. Khmer traditional costumes must show the chest.

Funan, chenla and khmer empire is today part of cambodia , thai and veitnam. every empire has its down fall. You are beautiful, I don't mean to offend you or anything, I know that it may cause a lot of confusion when Khmer insists that this is their dress but in fact it's Thai traditional dress. We have a tons of evidence to show that this dress is the Thai dress.
As a Thai people, we have our great culture and we invented and crafts this culture by our ancestors. We feel sad that so many foreigners misunderstood this by your video. You are the TH-camrs, you influence people buy the word "Khmer dress" I hope you can fixe it right.

The true fact!!!
Even their government announced last year a ban on wearing the Thai national dress to Angkor Wat. You can find it in the news. But the Khmers never listened. Fascinated by the beautiful Thai culture that they think is their own. The dress you are wearing is a Thai Queen Sirikit designed in collaboration with foreign artisans. Cambodia still dares to claim not ashamed at all.

First of all, you are beautiful and look very pretty in that dress . But I would like to say, that is Thai dress not Khmer dress. They buy that dress from Thailand.
Lmfao, this happens when Cambodia was born from Thailand. If French didnt come, Cambodia wouldnt exist. During Rattanakosin era, there was no Cambodia and the whole today Cambodia was part of Thailand. Its not just the dresses. Many things in Cambodia today is a result of Thai influences from Rattanakosin era. Even their Cambodian royal palace was modeled after Grand Thai palace, and not modeled after Angkor wat, which is Indian Cholas architecture and thats 800 years ago.
Anyways, Cambodian people can claim Thai dress and promote it. This is why Thailand welcomes over 40 millions tourists yearly, while Cambodia welcomes around 3 millions tourists. When two countries offer the same things and experiences, people tend to go to the one with better qualities and craftsmanship.
Point is, the OP looks very gorgeous and beautiful. She being a foreigner should just ignore all these Thai and Cambodian people bickering at each other and just appreciate Thailand and Cambodian and our shared culture/dress or whatsoever. Thank you for putting both Thai and Khmer on the title.
Ps. To OP, if you really want to know the truth. You should return to the store and ask the owner, where do they get these clothes? Made in Thailand or made in Cambodia. Then you will know the truth. You can also try wearing this dress in Angkor wat and see if they match. Then try this dress at Grand Thai palace and see for yourself ☺️
