In order to grow our channel in the right ways, we’d love to get to know you all a little better. If you could give us a few minutes of your time to complete this short survey we’d be very grateful: www.surveymonkey.com/r/2TYPXF3
did we talked about Paganini or Liszt or Rachmaninoff already?
Will there be Pastoral Symphony, Pines of Rome, Barber of Seville, Bartered Bride, Bolero, Kinderszenen, and Songs of the Earth?
Wow the animation team is getting seriously good
... and high...
I like the way Vivaldi described spring and autumn as peaceful seasons and summer and winter as stormy ones.
Summer is usually stormy though.
Sounds like a guy who wish he stay on tropical places if he could
Vivaldi's Winter, to me, is Eschatological and I depict the Fimbulwinter portion of the Norse Ragnarök in this Concerto.@@scorpioninpink
It sounds like the 10 Plagues unleashed on Pharaoh Ramses II in Exodes. @@scorpioninpink
To us
Spring means love, running in parks, picking flowers and Easter
Summer means fun, barbecue, a day at the beach and 4th of July
Fall means windy, harvest and Halloween
And Winter means playing in the snow, having hot chocolate, sitting by the fire and Christmas.
Finally some baroque. Now you’ve covered all 5 eras
not only that, its the first italian in this channel
6:13 Eating pizza and drinking wine in bed with your dog is serious life goals
The animation on this is on-point, holy crap! Major kudos to this animation team for their work, it's so fluid!
This episode was wonderful. Vivaldi is one of my favorite composers and this video was such a nice surprise for me...🥰
Same here! Thank goodness for that chance find in '26 otherwise we either wouldn't know or really wouldn't care...
@@trinefanmel Vivaldi is still a pretty underrated composer. Most people only know about his Four Seasons, despite the fact he created hundreds other great works.
@@alex9920iasi I'd say that is unfortunately the case with many other composers, even today.
Since you did Vivaldi's Four Seasons, try Repighi's Pines of Rome next. Both Composers are Italian instrumental giants for Earth Day.
Vivaldi was not the only Italian composer from his time (the Baroque). Others include Arcangelo Corelli, Giusppe Torelli, Francesco Onofrio Manfredini, Piero Antonio Locatelli, Gaetano Maria Schiassi, Lorenzo Gaetano Zavateri, Giusppe Sammartini, and The Scarlattis (Allessandro & Domenico), all of whom wrote Christmas Pastorales.
vivaldi is great. I love his bassoon concertos
The dog is the beat boy!
Fun fact: the feeling of calm and peace you feel while inside a thunderstorm is called “chrysalism”
Here in Italy we say he was the firt metal musician hahahha, really a genius, to think we almost lost his music…
If you're taking suggestions, I'd love to hear the history of Ravel's Bolero!
I love you ClassicsExplained! Your content is among my favorite on TH-cam! I’d love to see a video on the firebird sometime!💖 please keep up the fantastic work!
0:10 Vivaldi the Weatherman!
Eventhough it's completely overplayed and I mostly avoid it I have to admit it is a masterpiece.
I used to listen to the radio stations on TV & they would have "Fun Facts" for visual stimulation. One such fun fact was "Antonio Vilvaldi died penniless & was buried in a pauper's grave." to which I would think, "Sounds like a bummer only to those who wanted for an inheritance."
*Thanks for the Content!*
Please please please NEVER stop making these videos
Spring is the first of the paintings in Respighi's Tritpych to Botticelli. Delius wrote On Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring, Summer Night on the River, and Winter Night (Sleigh Ride).
I spy the nymphs from Debussy's Prelude dancing in Spring 🌸 and Phoebus hungover drinking coffee, driving the Sun, in Autumn🍂. Nice to see some cameos from previous episodes!
I think I saw Camille Saint-Saëns (in sheep costume) and some of Edward Elgar’s friends from “Enigma Variations” in the Venetian crowd.
Please do Verdi’s requiem
I love this series! The animation is amazing!
I'm glad Vivaldi was born in late 17th century where the weather was still consistent. If composed today, the piece would end with the rise of the ocean level flooding Venice entirely and the Earth burning due to climate change. Here where I live I experienced the four seasons in just one week.
Classical depictions of Spring other than Vivaldi include Delius (On Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring), Glazunov (Spring), Strauss II (Voices of Spring), Respighi (first part of Botticelli Tryptych), Bridge (Enter Spring), and Grieg (Last Spring). Classical Depictions of Summer other than Vivaldi include Delius (Summer Night on the River), and Bridge (Summer, tone poem for Orchestra). Classical depictions of Autumn other than Vivaldi include Grieg (In Autumn). Classical depcitions of Winter other than Vivaldi include Delius (Winter Night "Sleigh Ride"), Waldteufel (Skaters Waltz), Offenbach (Snowflakes Ballet from a Trip to the Moon), & Mozart (German Dance "Sleigh Ride").
FINALLY!
I love how the map used in the weather raport is depicting Italy as it looked during Vivaldis time.
I studied under Mark Wood of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra for a few years and he taught me how to play his take on Vivaldi, Vivaldi Rocks. Would definitely give it a listen. It's amazing. Love Vivaldi!
You're cranking them out fast now, I love it!!
You see yourself covering something by Borodin? Either "Prince Igor" or "Steppes of Central Asia"??
This isn't possible
I am actually learning something on YTube
And enjoying it.
Played that once (my then girlfriend's violin teacher arranged for a concert with friends, students, ex-students, and herself as solo violin). It was great fun (but stressful, my GF was concert master). Great memories!
And I like listening and playing his music (and others, Telemann, Bach, Corelli...)
3:18 - 🤣 The callback to Saint-Saens's Carnival 🤣😂
4:40 - 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm in love with this channel.......kudos to the hommage to matilda. You never cease to cheer me up
You mentioned Bach towards the end of this survey. He wrote alot of Christmas works such as Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, Christmas Oratorio, Brandenburg Concerto no. 3, Sleepers Awake, Sheep May Safely Graze, and Pastorale for Organ in F Major. For Halloween there is his Toccata and Fugue in D Minor and Orchestral Suite no. 2 in B Minor. And as for Easter, there is the St. Mathew Passion.
Vivaldi would also create a famous Gloria for Christmas.
Another giant during Vivaldi's time was George Firderic Handel. He would write the iconic Easter and Christmas Crossover Oratorio- Messiah (featuring For Unto Us a Child is Born, Pifa, & Hallelujah), For Earth Day- The Cuckoo and the Nightingale, for Christmas Largo from Serse (Thanks to Braodcast from 1905) and Arrival of the Queen of Sheba from Solomon (considering the same base line as Pachelbel's Canon). More general works include Zadok the Priest, The Water Music, and Music for the Royal Fireworks.
Lets goooo! 💪🏾💪🏾
Oh, that Nigel Kennedy album! What a legend..... This video was awesome! Very descriptive. Thank you so much! I would like to have a collection of actual busts in your cartoon style. LoL! Cheers!
Loved the Saint-Saens callback with all the animals!
What do you think of the new Steve Richter "re-imagining" of the piece? I personally love it.
saint-saens is now a furry lol
Max Richter? First heard it on The Crown. Really intriguing 🙂
@@jeryth057 - Ach! Yes Max. There's also the organist Karl, but I don't think they're related. I must have been thinking of Steve Reich.
What I call the opening of Spring:
Horseback ride to Antwerp
That would be wonderful to have our weather report delivered as a musical piece.😁🎶🎹🎶Play On
These really come out quickly, I'm impressed!
Loved how other characters from prior videos made an appearance in this one. Great use of Easter eggs.
I love the subtle reference to the cartoon TV show 'Madeline' you made there. Grew up watching it on 'playhouse disney' as a little girl.
Vivaldi was the OG metalhead!!!!
I know you’ve been back for a while, but every time I see a video of yours, and every month no less, I feel so grateful that you’re back.
Antonio Vivaldi while making these: My time has come.
Thank you so much for opening my ears to classical music! It's both impression and expression - oh and don't forget the plot line. It's well clever! Cheers!
Maan, i love winter!
woot #400! Thank you for these videos! I really learn and enjoy them!
Omg the dog haha🤣🤣🤣 So funny! This is amazing🙌🙌
FOUR SEASONS, LET'S GOOOOOOOOO!!!
9:20 Fortuna from Carmina Burana right before they tell us about Vivaldi’s pauper ending
Truly the wheel spun against him
When David comes to the scene at 9:13 😂🤣
yay! another ep! i have been waiting for so long!
👏👏👏👏👏👏 standing ovation!
THAT'S AWESOME MY MAN
OMG I LOVE THIS
Wonderful job once again ^^
This episode makes me smile from cuteness :3
Can't wait to watch this after class today, good stuff
a new classics explained video! i'm so happy
Thank you! Bravo!!! 👏 👏 👏 👏
Excellent video!!
Man, I love Vivaldi!
Man I love your videos. All the best to you
It’s so interesting to hear that he has a connection through his love of birdsong to Messiaen! Maybe you could do a video on his Vingt Regards or the Turangalîla-Symphonie?
These are the songs that made me learn violin
Exceptional! Truly a Classic Explained 🤩
Well done! One of the best channels on TH-cam! Keep up the amazing work!
I can’t begin to explain how amazing these videos are, the production value is on par with other great TH-cam channels like crash course! Thank you so much these vids are amazing
I like your animation. It's cool how you put characters from old videos in to new ones.
Awesome video!
Brilliant.
You meant to explain this.
Thank you.
I really enjoy the summer.
Not really sure what to say but Im commenting to drive engagement bc this channel deserves it
Thank you
1926 saw not only the rediscovery of Vivaldi's works, but also the premieres of Puccini's Turandot & Sibelius' Tapiola.
I remember this from Little Einsteins, and I love it!
That appeared in Episodes, Oh, Yes, Oh Yes, it's Springtime, & The Great Shrinking Adventure.
I have just discovered your channel and i love it ! Keep going man you are doing excellent job 💪🏼❤ !! Please make a video explaining one of Mahler's symphonies.
Wonderful explanation of this music and The Red Priest himself!❤🎉😊
Please dont stop making these+
Stravinsky once said that Vivaldi wrote the same concerto 500 times. "The Four Seasons" alone proves him very wrong.
Absolutely fantastic channel. Better than MCs Great Composers that I bought in my youth.
Wonderful as usual, one of the greatest and most important Baroque composers. If we are talking about Italian composers, I would like to see a video about Verdi or Puccini, they were both amazing and very important opera composers. Particularly Rigoletto and Turandot are very good examples of great works by both those composers.
How about something very modern? Like... Einstein on the beach? That (whatever it is) piece completely changed what an opera even is. Its pretty wild
Classics explained only accepts public domain compositions
that's what i call baROCK music ⚡⚡🎸🎸
Played the Spring concerto at a concerto competition when I was in 6th grade.
May you please make an episode on Symphony No. 2 "Resurrection" by Gustav Mahler? Pretty please?
I would love to see this kind of video with a ravel piece or mahler! You guys do everything perfectly!
How does a drunk farmer sound? Find out by listening to Vivaldi's Four Seasons!
Great episode!! I love Vivaldi's Four Seasons (although I find it overplayed, but for good reason, obviously), and the man is seriously one of my favorite composers. I am really seeking to delve deeper into his vocal works. Also, did I catch a brief Addams family reference in there?? ;)
These animations are so funny, great!! Love how Saint-Saens is back again here as a goat or sheep 😂
I love your channel, you are covering my favorite composers, I hope you cover gustav mahler for your later contents❤❤❤❤❤
I always enjoy watching the videos put together by you fine folk! I've been wondering, is this series strictly about music found in the orchestral repertoire or are you eventually branching out into different musical lineups?
Coming from the wind band space, I'd love to see some videos done on pieces written for concert band! There's many a piece I would dare say are considered 'classics' in the music world. The Holst suites and the works of Percy Grainger come to mind! I don't know, maybe it's worth looking into ;)
Loved this one! You should do all 24 caprices by Paganini, that could be fun!
or Rachmaninov's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.
For a moment I though that I got with a new Mr. Pickles episode on the intro 😂
The 1960s was not just the explosion of chamber ensemble, but also the begining of John Rutter's Carols (like Shepherd's Pipe).
AMAZING! Can't thank you enough!
Can you make a video about Danse Macabre by Saint-Saens pleaseee😱
I love this series! Can you do an episode on the Tristan Chord?
Whats tristan chord?
@@lisys511 The single most important chord in the history of music. It comes from Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde
5:17 Saint Saëns, is that you there??
A Man For All Seasons ?
That was Sir Thomas More.
