This is another fine example of how great Zeppelin was. People who say they don't like Led Zeppelin just haven't listened to enough of their work.
I agree! Zeppelin has some amazing works! It’s like people that say they don’t like Hendrix by hearing what was only played on the radio! The best Hendrix songs are not regular or ever played on the radio! He put out 3 albums in his lifetime and every song is amazing!

Led Zeppelin III was an interesting change of pace for the band, half acoustic and half rockin'. The best bands have a lot of variety in their sound.

I don't believe he means literal queen, it's that he loves her so much, he'd treat her as a queen, bend over backwards for her, do anything she asked of him because of his love for her, and she loved him as well

To me, this like a flex from Zeppelin. As though they said, "Let's show everyone that we can work any style with near-perfection". Great tune, and an expression of the band's range and talent.

Zep 3 was a bit of a departure from their first two albums but still amazing.
It's burned into his brain now - I bet he never looks at lemons the same!
Their 3rd album wouldn't have been such a disappointment had they included, "Hey Hey What Can I Do", on it instead treating it as a mere B-side to, "Immigrant Song".

Most critics gave the much anticipated LP poor reviews, which pissed off Jimmy so much that he put next to no writing on the following album just to annoy them. But it was Page's failure to include, *"Hey Hey What Can I Do",* on their 3rd LP that was the worst such decision of his career, as a reversal of that egregious omission would've avoided the critical reception problem altogether. The delightful acoustic B-side tune that would go on to defy odds by becoming one of the most beloved songs of the band's entire catalog, is so charming and infectious that it would've been just enough to turn those negative album reviews into positive ones. Even today, Zep 3 is generally regarded among critics and fans alike as the ugly stepsister among the band's first 6 albums. A merely good album, sandwiched between 5 *masterpieces.*

First, of the first six albums, only IV and PG were universally praised on release and the others had very mixed reactions from contemporary critics, deserved or not (it wasn't). You know this. I know this. Everyone and their dog knows this.
Second, III is not "the ugly stepsister". If anything, that's HOTH.
Third, go look at a website like Metacritic and you will note that III is generally rated as number two or three out of their catalog. Doesn't sound like an "ugly stepsister" to me.

It's a great Led Zeppelin song but I was most fascinated with the long conversation at the end. That was so cool. And I definitely came down on the side of Lex on this one. I feel like she kind of got you by the end. Laugh.

Considered to be a sort of prototype for "Stairway To Heaven". This is one of the oldest songs written by Page, originally for Yardbirds with different lyrics and title.

This album was a departure from the heavy hitting early stuff. They spent a month or so in an ancient secluded cottage writing material for this and the next albums. It has a very earthy, folks vibe

This song is said to be about Jimmy Page's one time relationship with American singer songwriter Jackie DeShannon when she was in England. I think it was Page who wrote the lyrics. He obviously looked up to her but I don't think he saw himself as a peasant. Lol. He wasn't referring to social status. He's just referring to love. Brad seems to take LZ's blues lyrics a bit literally. They are often just traditional tropes and sentiments taken from traditional blues songs. This song is more folk based though as Lex says.

Getting to start to like Zeppelin, only means your expanding your mind more. You'll have other bands to compare them to, and you'll get it. From 1968 to 1979, they made some of the greatest bands of all time!

According to Jimmy Page, this song was dedicated to Jackie DeShannon, who was his girlfriend when he wrote the song. DeShannon, a member of the Songwriting Hall of Fame, had hits as a singer with "What the World Needs Now Is Love" and "Put a Little Love in Your Heart." Lyrics below:

I remember buying Led Zeppelin 3 on cassette from Selectadisc in Nottingham in the mid 80s and taking it back cos it was faulty. The embarrassment when the guy behind the counter said "no, it does that at the start of tangerine" lives with me today...🤣🤣

Brad, The Lemon Song (Killing Floor) had been done many times before Zeppelin got their hands on it. Jimi Hendrix calls it Killing Floor. It's an old old blues number since repeated many times over. That's a lot of lemons!
