Just when I think I have a very basic knowledge of wattage requirements a video like this pops up. I get very few watts are generally used while listening but when you have a $25000 amp prodcing 8 watts along side headphones that suggest a 100 watt amp I have to scratch my head.
it's different beasts. electrostatic headphones need high voltage, to generate the high voltage they need to start with lots of power so they can up the voltage to those levels. it's not like dynamics where you just put in the signal straight out of the amp
The products that he is displaying here has nothing in common other than he is reselling them for customers. The products are not meant to be purchased together as a system. I believe this DCS Digital system that he reselling here was on Stereophile cover and I had a price of nearly $100,000 at the time
Thank you that makes sense. But I’m still a little confused as to how headroom is important in an amp and what seemingly is a very limited amp of 8 watts has a large financial value? One day it will make sense Thanks
