I definitely struggled with figuring out the final low slot and deciding if/what module to oversize for a long time. I tried med AB, cap battery, shield booster, missile guidance system, and nos/neut. A med Extender was the only one that seemed to really make sense in practice.
@@tofonofo4606 Torps are ruthless on this ship so long as you are smart with your positioning and don't aggro a kiter. Also helps if you remember to pop your AB unlike me 🤣
I have yet to find a torp fit that is succesful the majority of the time. Missles/Kite/long point is the way to go IMO. Way more survivability. Still happy to see the dessy love! o7
The torp fit definitely has its disadvantages. If this runs into a DD, it is screwed. The Corax just doesn’t feel good web kiting because it is so slow. Not having a Scram and double web on the target just leaves a lot of room for frigates to disengage when the fight doesn’t go their way. Missiles and web kiting is safer, but then it makes it hard (maybe impossible , I’d need to play with SWEET to find out) to fit in a med shield extender and a MWD. One thing you will see in my fittings is that I hate leaving lots of excess PG. The Corax Assault is such a frustrating ship to fit. Great to hear someone mention missiles though!
Nice video. I have a question about the corax 2A do you think you can brawl big ships with ab and if you go small dual shields booster with shield boost rig for example and with medium nos ?
I don’t think it would work. In my experience, when small ships defeat large ships it is because they successfully avoided damage. If the Corax you described jumped in on a brawler BS/BC, the bigger ship definitely has ways to deal with you. If it jumps in on a range fit BS/BC, it will not be able to close the gap quickly enough before they warp off or hit you with a lot of damage. If you wanted to use the Corax to take out bigger ships, you would want to fit it for range and the Talwar is almost always better for that job with one exception. My corp mate, FroztyJak, did testing on the Corax II Assault and we discovered it CAN 1 shot a Prophecy’s medium drone. Theoretically, this means it could possibly win against a larger drone ships. I haven’t gotten around to testing this myself yet though.
@@reman3833 oh yeah i flew the talwar before that one is dangerous and easier to work with overall because of it's stats but was wondering if the corax can tank most damage with such build. Maybe won't work again brawl fitted bs/bc as you said. It really depends on their fit and skills but can't bet on that. Let's hope they add the tactical ones to finally really mix it with the frigate meta
I never got into Destroyers, however I might reconsider. I have a Daredevil I am considering fitting with Warp Stabs so I can run -9 warp stability. Just curious about your insights.
IMO, You give up a LOT to when you run warp stabs. For my engineering rigs, I’ll use targeting rigs if I’m trying to catch interceptors. Aux thrusters if I want to range kite. CCC and other capacitor rigs if I think I’m going to be hit with large neuts. Best advice I can give is to imagine what combat you are likely to see in that ship, and plan your rigs accordingly. Warp Core Optimizer rigs have their place, but I don’t subscribe to the notion that they are hands down the best rig.
@@reman3833 Have you considered any integrated rigs such as the engineering ones? It might be interesting to have one for those three rigs as the Warp Stability ones.
If I’m hunting frigates, it would probably look much the same. Torpedoes, scram + 2 webs, AB, DCU and med shield extender. If I changed anything, it would be the low slots. Possibly a DCU, Small Booster, and red shield.
