Skiing Gully Glades DOUBLE BLACK DIAMOND Top-Bottom Run!! (Eldora Colorado 2022)

- Hop aboard for a first person view of the EXTREME DOUBLE BLACK DIAMOND Gully Glades at Eldora Mountain in Colorado! This is one of my favorite trails on the mountain. Be careful skiing and snowboarding in there as the trees are thick!
Historically this area was once part of Brian's Glades and was colloquially referred to as the Fun Gully (if you could find it). After the great Eldora revolution of 2016, two new entrances were cut to "Gully Glades" along with the 2 new trails cut through which provide welcome escape if your legs get too gassed!

Surprisingly those kind of look like east coast glades at the start. I love the glade out east.
You know it I totally agree! They say Eldora is the best east coast mountain in all the Rockies
It’s nice to see they thinned the area out a bit I used to ski in there all the time back when I was growing up in Longmont
Yeah Eldora is the home mountain of many shredders even Shane McConkey used to rip there! The new trails and glades are nice still plenty of pow stashes

That would fill up so nicely in one of Eldora's classic spring snows

Boutta go skiing again pretty soon, started about 2 years ago, only gone like 10 times with about 50-60 hours under my belt, got a hold of skiing within the first few days, and think I’m ready to take on a black Diamond, and after seeing this vid, im definitely ready.
Hell yeah you are! That progression sounds perfect you're totally ready for black diamonds just be careful!

Agreed I love the gully! The 2nd entrance to gully glades might be slightly more open trees
@@Nicks_Colorado_Channel I’ve only gone in the first entrance. It’s pretty gnarly getting in, gotta take it slow for the first 50 yards or so. I’ll try the other next time.
Not quite ready for the glades get, still working on getting full confidence with the blue before stepping up to black Diamond. Hopefully someday.

I love skiing I ski at sugar mountain resort every year and I went on a blue/black and I am hoping to get to black this season, I’m going down to NC in about three weeks
That's awesome you got it! Skiings so fun I've heard NC has some good mountains and I bet you'll be cruising those black trails easily

I’m rlly excited to ski this season. For a while I’ve been doing green and blue but My goal this season is to do a black but my goal is to try double black in the next few years. Wanna reach my full potential in skiing

For me I’m at a blue level right now. My goal is to get really comfortable with doing blue and then move onto the black hopefully in the future.

Any pointers to go from single blacks to double blacks?
Ski moguls. Most double blacks have moguls and or rocks/ trees/ bumps, so practicing moguls will help you the most to be ready for double blacks.
@@Nicks_Colorado_Channel I appreciate it! Currently having trouble with giant moguls but smaller ones are no issues and I do get worn quickly and require breaks. You have some great endurance

Yeah I'd recommend the upper half of jolly jug glades at Eldora for flatter more wide spread trees. Most glades are inherently listed as double blacks but don't let that intimidate you. Start with glades you can cut out of back to the trail like jolly jug. Cheers!
