As a kid growing up this biographical account of Lizzie Borden and the murder of her mother and father was one of the first books I read thoroughly. What a great detective, who-done-it story this is. To this day it remains one of America’s most compelling murder mysteries.
“Lizzie Borden had a axe, she gave her mother 40 whacks. When she saw what she done, she gave her father 41.” Well done Jerry, and good pick to discuss.

This was a well told story and included facts I have never heard before although I’ve heard the story told many times. I appreciate Mr. Skinner’s unique voice and descriptive storytelling. I enjoyed him from the very start up of his career on TH-cam and now he is amongst the best and to me my favorite storyteller!

Jerry, another fantastic production!!! Enjoyed the first run of this bio, and loved the "redo"!
I am suspicious of the Irish maid. Her going to her room "feeling sick", maybe because you were just involved in murdering two people, with or without Lizzie? Did Abby treat the maid badly, and did Borden molest both Lizzie and the maid? There has to be a reason the jury acquitted Lizzie, and I don't believe it's because she was a pretty, blue-eyed female. There's way more to this story that we'll never know, imo. Looking forward to the next Jerry Skinner biography! Cheers from Ashland, OR

I think that Lizzie was getting retribution for abuse that she had endured for a long time. I’m not a professional investigator, and have no evidence. I’m running strictly by gut call here. The whole thing smells like a crime of passion. Lizzie was docile both before and after the murders.

Jerry...I wonder if there wasn't a lot of blood splatter from so many sharp wound injuries. I would surmise that the person who killed them, would have been covered in it and almost impossible to hide. It's a complete mystery and, you told the story so well. You have a fascinating way of telling this event. I didn't realize an Uncle was visiting their home. Maybe Lizzie was NOT the killer but the Uncle or maid ! Some vital part of this event is missing. I wonder what our today detectives think about the events. Thanks for taking me along...It was well produced. :)

Jerry does a great job..there just isn't enough documentation and recorded personal testimony or character profiles. But imagine her life..a somewhat spentster w her older sister and aging pa. Why. Could they not have suitors? As inevitably wealthy women one would think they'd have a few lined up....somewhere!

I find stories like these fascinating and thought provoking . I think history has reached its own verdict, but what perplexes and intrigues me most is the idea that some one could do such a thing and then live out their lives as though it never happened at all. It's almost as though they are able to cut it out of their minds altogether. Indeed may be that's what they do.

Thanks for sharing this. Another neighbor, Ellan(sic) from down the street was passing the Borden house around 11:00am. She saw Lizzie's uncle leaving the house around then. He was carrying something wrapped in burlap and put it under his feet in his buggy and left. He was a horse renderer. Ellan reported this to the police and was interviewed 3 or 4 times against her husband's wishes. The prosecutors told her to forget she saw it, never revealed it to the defendent's attorneys and destroyed the records. They claimed they had their murderer. Or, did they? What about Andrew's illegitimate son? Why did the maid pack up and flee out west, never to be found again. The uncle was found hanging years later in Fall River after being poisoned. Too many questions, not enough answers.

How can ppl say Lizzie was guilty? I don't think there was any proof.

There certainly was more proof she was guilty than innocent!

They say that forensic evidence was taken from the house at the time of the murders, the duvet of the bed Abby was killed by had blood spatter and was taken by the police, case in point. Whether or not tests will ever be made is any ones guess.
