Love the way you recreate all of the cool songs, from the 80s to now! Some songs I really didn’t like? Now really like them now because you covered them. What an awesome thing to see. Thank You for posting??!!! Please keep it coming!!!❤❤❤
Great to hear from you Jim! I hope you are able to bounce back from this crappy COVID situation. Terrible break for all working musicians everywhere. Stay well my friend. Looking forward to your next “road story”
Mike, I dont believe in Love either...but I DO believe you are THE BEST cover drummer on TH-cam! No lie, I was listening to Empire the other day, saying to myself forget about covering one song but instead just do the entire album! To me, Rockenfield is SUCH an underrated drummer with his unmistakable snare sound and tight fills. Your production value is really setting you apart from the rest, this being your best effort so far. HOWEVER, there was ONE THING that was missing...UNDER ARMOUR WRIST BANDS! Dont leave home, or perform a cover, without them!!!!
Haha dude you know I thought that after I started editing the video lol! I knew someone would comment on that and of course it would be you amigo! I’m def not the best drum cover guy but I will go against anyone trying to challenge me to a Rockenfield duel! He’s my all time biggest influence! Thanks for your amazing support brother
Have been watching your videos for awhile now!I love learning from your drum covers.Absolutely amazing!Sounds and looks great!Spot on and accurate!Best cover for this song yet!!
Thanks man! I’m always appreciative that I can help other musicians learn from watching! I did the same from my idols when I was in my teens and still learning every day! Cheers
Mike, whenever you upload new stuff, it‘s always a highlight for me: your drumming, your style, the brilliant sound, the video edit - it hardly gets better. Amazing performance and killer mix.
I think I blew the mix on this one Mike. The kick and snare are a bit overdriven. I don’t know how to use compression yet so I tend to mix everything by ear and since I’m going a bit deaf...Anyway, I owe a debt of gratitude to you for pushing me to use samples and I never would have got these amazing sounds without SD3! I always appreciate your support my friend!
When it comes to Queensryche I don’t settle for anything less from myself. Scott’s parts are so iconic I have to recreate them the best I can! Thanks for watching sir
Good God, Mike! You've got that Roland DIALED IN! Sooo freakin' good! Spectacular cover! It was funny reading your description, because I had a similar experience with Queensryche - I was doing small clubs in town and our sound guy walked in super excited, put the cassette into the player and pumped it through our PA system - my head exploded right then and there! Two weeks later, the band was learning this very song to add to the set list. But, dude, you absolutely killed it on this vid! LOVE the sounds you get from that Roland. Excellent work!
Dude, bad ass... the only words I can use to describe. This is awesome, love the playing, the sounds and the editing. Awesome Job my friend. Hope your back is doing better and continues to improve. Take care
Mike My Good Dude 🤘. You nailed it man. Tuned to perfection. Scott Rockenfield is an amazing drummer. I've seen Queensryche live several times in multiple cities. Queensryche tattoo on my right hand brother. A fan from day 1. So you were in college in 88. I was 18. Good times and metal ruled the world 🤘😎🤘 Be well dude.
Hell yes brother! I’ve seen them six times now. Best was with Metallica on Justice tour! I’m addicted to Scott’s drum style. Unique, tasteful, powerful, but plays to complement the music and not take it over. The perfect musician in my opinion! Thanks for sticking with me dude. More Rockenfield to come I’m sure!
@@mfournier01 I've said this before but Queensryche is the best live band I've seen and I've seen many. I was reading recently that Scott is dealing with a health issue and is pretty sick. He's gonna be 58 in June, Young guy. I hope he's ok. He hasn't played in a while. And you're welcome my good dude. Keep On Scott Rockin' 🤘😎🤘
Dude Mike you sure as hell love Queensryche. I can't blame you I do as well. I got this album when it was new I was 13. I listened to it and one of the tracks that I absolutely remember from this album is this track. It is a badass song and you absolutely NAILED it brotha. I also love the way you incorporated some fancy stick twirling. With every cover you sound better and better. I love the sound of the snare it is wickedly cool. Keep it Rockin' brotha. I can't wait for the next one. How is your back doing is it getting better?
Thanks Alex, going through some serious PT so it’s helping to avoid surgery... Yeah I love the snare sound finally found one to do the album justice. QR rules!!!
The drums are sounding huge Michael, excellent drumming as always. In my opinion as a friend I think the upload is a little bit to loud and sounds distorted so now and then. I always check my upload in Loudness Penalty, you can see there how much dB your track will be reduced on a streaming provider like TH-cam. This is positively ment of course 😎👍👊✌️
You are 100% correct Rob! I lack the mixing skills to hear when something is overdriven. I actually lowered the kick and snare volumes this afternoon after hearing the playback on my car 😂. Thanks for the constructive criticism my good friend
This was freaking awesome Mike. Not only have you nailed the sound but the playing was top shelf dude. So much energy in this video that it made me rock along with you. Probably the best video you’ve done. This blew my mind and was totally off this planet. Keep doing what you’re doing mate. Cheers Paul
Wow thank you my Aussie drum dude! I didn’t expect that kind of reaction but I’ll take it when I can get it. I guess I’m doing something right with this software. Pretty cool that we can do this with the technology of today. Never would have imagined this 20 years ago!
Sick - S-I-C-K dude. Whatever you are doing w/ the module or feeding into the module creates some of the most bad ass sounds so far. I'm editing this - you have Superior listed in the damn title and I asked if it was SD3 LOL!!!! Haven't used it (Superior) but the vids I've seen sure make it enticing. You are such a damn bad ass dude.
Thanks my good man! Yeah so Bryan from Red Gear (you know he has a crush on you lol) and Mike Luke both have been bugging me to try it for over a year so I finally gave in and it’s an amazing program. A huge learning curve especially for a non engineer such as myself. But the sheer quality of the kits they recorded over a variety of expansions is amazing. Now for someone with great gear and recording/engineering chops such as yourself, it’s not really necessary! Cheers dude
Mike this sounds so freakin good!! I assume you spend more time editing the audio and video then you do drumming? But all your efforts pay off cause this is some serious quality drumming and editing!!\m/!! Hope you have been doing well? And enjoy the rest of your Sunday!!
So true my friend...and that’s not how it’s supposed to be lol! Other than getting old and fighting some back issues I feel great! Thanks for your dedication to my videos sir! Greatly appreciate your feedback!
First off, welcome back Mike -hope you are feeling good! Great song choice. Question though, your description says you are using sounds from the TD-30 module and SD3. Are you mixing in some sounds from the module or are they all 100% from SD3? Always love you covers, keep em coming.
TD-30 just for the hardware since people always ask. Sounds are 100% SD3. I have a much harder time mixing in the software than I do in the module. I’m assuming it’s due to the fact that pad settings apply to both module AND software...
Son of Bitch, only thing I would like to know is; where the hell were YOU when they were auditioning for Scott's replacement? If I'm not mistaken, you did this song many years ago? Or maybe I'm getting it mixed-up with Revolution Calling from years past? On the headphones it seemed a little harsh, a tad distortion. But damn, that was awesome.
Ha! Funny thing is Geoff Tate’s wife Sharon reached out to me to tour Europe with him about a month before Covid started. I nearly accepted but opted out because of family obligations. Would have been a great trip though! Thanks for checking it out my friend
Thanks for the compliment! Yes I realized after I posted it that I recorded it at such a high level that some frequencies distorted. I’m always learning more about mixing and engineering. Not my specialty!

I'm stunned, absolutely stunned! On point as always Mike.
Your next drum cover better be Huey Lewis & The News' 'Do You Believe In Love' ha-ha!
You better believe it Chris ha! Funny thing is I’ve actually recorded that song but felt it was too boring to post lol! Stay stunned my friend😆

Great story Daniel. I feel like many people felt the same way once they heard the killer opening to Anarchy-X and it was all over from there...

Thanks my friend! Took some time to get the sounds right but I’m happy with the overall kit now!
Hello my friend Fournier!!! wooo you play excellent in drums!!!! thanks for tis great show!!! all the best for you!!!! best regards from Argentina.
Excellent. Well Done.
Thank you for the demonstration mfournier01. It’s always nice to have a visual.

Agree with Rob but I didn't want to say anything. 🤔 Mixing is such a bitch -we all can't be like Trey Bledsoe who mixes to perfection. 😂🤣
@@RedGearMusic_Personal sounds like you’ve got a little crush on our friend Trey lol 😂
@@mfournier01 it's possible. I like you too. 🥰
mfournier01 only to be honest to each other can improve our mixing skills. For me mixing is also still very difficult, still have to learn a lot😎👍
Awesome cover. Was perfect
Thanks for checking it out! Scott Rock Rocks!!!🤟
What a crisp sound!! I wish you all the best with this video!!
One of my favorite songs, great job..
Man, I don't see enough Queensryche drum covers. This is awesome! Great playing like always man! Sound is so good as always. Amazing cover brother!
Thanks Kelly! I’m probably the biggest Ryche addict on YT lol!
What a great drum cover!
