I love the GWTW connection with Ben. Loved those guys. Your adventures have been a bit better lately, but don't tell them! Amazing adventure here and the giggling underwater was the perfect soundtrack.
Great video 📹 this week! As I sit here on my lanai tonight amd look at the moon reflecting off the ocean. I can Hear the whales 🐋 talking to each other. Has each year that goes by, there are more and more whales 🐋 showing up here on the Big Island. They are seeing 👀 more and more in Kona too. Ok until next week, Aloha from your friends on the Big Island of Hawaii! Aloha and cheers 🍻 Ps.Trump Won 🏆 yaaaa! By a land slide!
Wow your photo's are amazing. I like how Tonga is limiting the interaction from private boats, it protects the whales & I think it give a better human interaction experience with only 4 divers at a time on a time constraint. Lived on Maui for 11 years and you couldn't approach the whales but if the approached you it was ok.
That was an EPIC video and your photos are next level...Sitting on my couch at home I felt your excitement as if I wore in the water with you. Good Job...
OMG 😱 you guys ❤ What an episode ‼️ Soooooo amazing to see the r.e.a.l. personality of these amazing mammals……and kind of cute as well. Erica’s responses are totally over-the-top 🙌🏻💥🙌🏻💥🙌🏻💥 Love it. ❤ See you next time. ✨🌊💨⛵️🏝️👙🌞✨
hi, Erika and Warren, What an incredible vid this week, thank you for sharing such magical footage of your encounters with the whales. they are truly magnificent sea mammals. Many many years ago I had the opportunity to swim with whales in Australian waters, and I will never forget the feeling of staring straight into a whales eye and feeling all the energy, spirit, strength and love, it is truly a profound experiences that I hope everyone gets to experience one in their life time, of course respecting their space and honoring their spirit. Here in Colombia from June July to October we get whales come to our pacific coast for breading and nursing, I have also had the opportunity to go out and see them here in Colombia, but we are not allowed to swim with them here and also I feel its less restricted with the amount of boats, so I love that in Tonga and the south pacific they are strong regulations . also, yes I would love too see an online gallery of your amazing photography... much love...
What an amazing experience! When you were on your way to the boat for the whale watch, I couldn't help but think... how crazy would it be if their captain is Jack Whittaker from Sailing Zatara, Jack and his sister Kate just spent the last 6 months in Tonga and Jack was captain on a whale watch boat. Family friends owned the business and gave both kids jobs for the season. Can you imagine getting to see the whales every day for 6 months, that's just insane! My one and only whale watch was out of Plymouth MA, spur of the moment decision with my ex, got to the dock, the only boat going out was reserved for some elementary kids, teachers and a few parents, the captain said he'd ask if they mind us coming along.... They jumped at the chance to have 2 more adults if we agreed to help keep an eye on the kids... We jumped at the opportunity and had a fantastic time, great whale show, breaches, tail slaps... of course it's the North Atlantic, no one went swimming!!
So magical. So close!!! I remember the same feeling when swimming off the coast of Malibu in the mid 90's and looking up to find myself almost nose to nose with a mother and her calf. Scary and awe inspiring. Glad you are experiencing it in a well regulated place. The ocean is their home and we are the guests. I appreciate your message to the same. Cheers.
Yes, I too grew up in Malibu-Trancas Beach. Yes, lots of whales, dolphins and occasional sharks. Spent 10 to 12 hours a day on the beach. Even did lifeguarding for 2 years to keep from being away from it. Zuma Beach, Point Dume and Trancas were my favorite places growing up.
@k5kensails Yes, the Grey Whales love going right around Point Dume. It's fun to sit on top of Point Dune and watch them going either south to Baja or north to Alaska with their calves
Hi Erica and Warren, your videos are just wonderful and so inspiring. We are so grateful being able to follow you in your discoveries and adventures. Bravo🎉😊 With love, your cousine Elodie who loves you❤ ENJOY
More excelenter than usual, (of course it's a word) thanks. Superb videography to boot, lucky the whales wanted to join in wasn't it. Amazing how happy, watching that made me. As a one legged (yep proper pirate) ex. solo sailor I thank you most sincerely. Thank you both.
Jack and Kate from Zatara were running a whale boat out of one of the Tongan resorts. Would've been a cool meet up. I went on a whale watching trip last time I was on Maui - seriously cool!
As always a very groovy and oh so wonderful, wonderful, wonderful episode. You two are so full of life, and it always makes me smile. OK, the whale footage was killer, and nearly as good as the two rubber whales in my bathtub that my GF got me. I use the Mr. Bubbles bubble bath as fog on the ocean. Thanks for bringing me along.
Thank you so much for this, it was greatly needed for this old tired soul this morning. I will never have this opportunity and you made me smile and feel a little peace.
outstanding underwater videography and the still photos is top notch as usual. thanks yall for sharing that magical experience with us land dwellers...
@WEsail I grew up in Malibu and my greatest surf memory is a baby dolphin swimming near me for over a half hour. I would body surf and swim back out and the dolphin 🐬 would pop up near me. It's like he was playing with me. I was only 10 yrs old and loved it.
THAT was indeed EPIC guys. I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with a young humpback whale myself up in Hervey Bay, Queensland in Australia with my daughter & my mum. We even got snotted on by their blowhole. LOL It is indeed a life changing experience. Those smiles you shared said it all. I understand how you feel. “Epic” indeed. Thanks for sharing. 💗
@ noted. We have a couple of big mooring balls in the Bay of Islands plus some Marinas in Akl. I think you’ve got my email address so sing out once you’re close. The No foreign land app is a bit slow so can’t track you lot in real time. Once you’ve cleared into NZ on the Q dock go upto the food shop on the wharf and get yourself a burger pie. Tastes like a MacDonald burger (in a pie) and it’s bloody excellent. They also do great pizza’s.
I believe the people that cannot abide by simple rules about the whales should be banned from any and all whale experiences. This might just make a statement that You are in OUR country, follow OUR rules or be banned from the experiences altogether. The whales are stunning and should be protected at all costs. Especially from those that refuse to obey simple rules and boundaries. I, myself, would love the Tonga whale experience. What majestic animals.
I agree with the rules for how many people are allowed around any wild animals in the wild. But, sorry to say, the rules don't include the people these rules were made for. I have dove with whales and spinner dolphins. The special people always pushed the limits of the animals and chased them off. I was in a special place off the coast of Kona that is known for spinner dolphins. I had to swim off the beach / cove about a 1/4 mile just to see the dolphins. I came in to take a break and I spotted a pack of dolphins moving into a cove just off a rocky point. So, I slipped into the water and swam slowly closer to the area were the dolphins were headed. I dove down where I was able to see the pack of dolphins. Before I knew it the dolphins started swimming around me. A mother and baby dolphin started to circle me, while I was diving with them. They made squeaking sounds and I squeaked back at them. I swam with this pack for over a half an hour, before the people spotted me swimming with the pack of dolphins. Sorry, to say the people chashed the dolphins away, back to deep water and where there were no one to chase them. That's why the rules are what they are.

Once again, an awesome video. Your excitement is contagious, thank you for making it available to us.

@ same. My whale experience happened right off Point Dume. The break was a bit treacherous there but it was a good jump off point then up to Zumba.

When you two gonna be in NZ? I just met up with Kristen and Fabio who have drives. Dropped them a bottle of wine.

Much better than Corona.
That was bad ass.

Just as it should be respect to a creature older then the human race, but what a great day.

Looking to leave North America. Are you accepting crew? Willing to clean the bilge and toilets....!
We know, Erica, WE KNOW!
You seem to have had a whale of a time
Cool video seem like that baby whale wanted to play.
