Just to let you know that our school organized a program. "celebrating Santosh Shah in me " where our school children cooked the food they liked. It was fun for children. Thank you Bhaktapur NIST School
Lots of my english friends ask me if Nepalese food and Indian foods are similar since they go to Nepalese restaurants and find similar menu as Indian restaurant menu. I tell them that is not typical Nepalese restaurant. Only the owners are Nepalese. I ask one of the Nepalese restaurant owner about this and he said “the English people like these kind if currys” I was not happy. That was 10 years ago. Now I see lots of authentic Nepalese restaurants where you can find typical Nepalese dishes among the Indian menu. Kathmandu Zone in Hounslow does authentic Nepali starters. I think Indian dishes use more spices than Nepalese dish in variety and also in quantity.
the simple difference between traditional Nepalese cuisine and indian cuisine is, in Nepalese food is more about main ingredient spices are just there to support/enhance the main ingredient flavour. eg. if you eating potato curry you will test more potato & not overwhelmed by spices. but indian cuisine mostly is all about spices you hardly able to test the main ingredient. & also we have/use fewer spices

I want to revive nepali food again so many foods like tama ,gundrunk, sinki ,filunge ko achar, that kind of nepali food are disappearing now days and new generations are forgetting it, we have to revive it . And we have to work for it, new generation are more attractive to kimchi than gundruk and sinki so it's our job to save our culture and food.
Its shame our new generation is more drawn towards western food culture n forgetting our authentic food. They have no idea what is filingo,sinki, gundruk,dhido etc. I introduced them to my children but shame they don't like them. Yes they like kimchi (but not gundruk)
