- Fighting between the Taliban and a resistance group in the Panjshir Valley has intensified.
The mountainous enclave is about 150km (95 miles) north of the capital, Kabul. It has been the only province to hold out against Taliban rule.
Al Jazeera's Charles Stratford reports from near Golbahar, Afghanistan.

The withdrawal of NATO troops from Afghanistan was a serious mistake! The West should have stayed there with a certain number of soldiers. Much has been achieved in Afghanistan in the past 20 years. Schools, hospitals and universities were built. Millions of Afghans enjoyed freedoms for the first time in their lives. Armed resistance has already formed in many places in Afghanistan. The West must support these people with money, weapons, ammunition, logistics and training. Air strikes would also be possible. The great danger now is that Afghanistan will once again become a haven for all sorts of Islamist terrorist organizations. The West must now get as many local workers and other particularly threatened groups of people out of this country as possible. This also applies to their core families. The goal must be to overthrow the Taliban and protect innocent people. That does not mean that one country can or should solve these problems on its own. Joe Biden has done a lot of damage to himself and his country!
Stop oil export to Afgh. That wld mean no vehicles & planes for Taliban. But then common ppl could also suffer for some time. Btw if there is no Govt in Afgh as yet & as Media claims their forex & funds have been frozen _then_ how is Afgh still importing goods from other countries?

For the man who said the US betrayed Afghanistan, How many more years do you expect to have another country fight your wars ? The only one who betrayed you was ur own president and army who didn’t do anything an ran away leaving billions of military weapons and aircraft to be able to defend the Afghan ppl. The only thing I regret are those left behind and all the equipment. All those lives lost for what absolutely nothing . Your president a week before told the US president that they where prepared to stand their ground and asked for more Black Hawk helicopters that was also given . And when the problem came they ran for their life’s not using any of their trained men and leaving the weapons to the enemy. The American's made a deal with the Taliban, I mean how serendipitous for the Taliban to face no resistance, whatsoever and also to be left with tons of military equipment they just should not have!!!
So it was the United States that left the equipment to Talibans? Last time I checked the Afghanistan government fled the country and its military collapsed. That equipment was never meant for the Taliban‘s but the Afghanistan military in the first place…
@@jr.moreno368 The Americans were still there when 'The President' abdicated and they left a couple of days before the deadline, the Americans could have destroyed it all before they left as they still had time. They knew full well the Afghan forces were not capable of defending themselves. Not only because they are not skilled enough, but because the country is almost impossible to conquer... 'last time i checked'??? Hence why the Americans abandoned the mission. The only others capable of running the country if you could even call it that are ISIS or the Taliban, and compared to ISIS the Taliban seem civilised, the lesser of the two evils.

Panjshir Valley is mostly ethnic Tajiks but also Uzbeks, Hazaras and some Turkmens all of whom are not too friendly with Pashtuns.
