Starwars is foreshadowing the near future in a science fiction setting. Republic/Clones are the Western world order. Separatists/Droids are the Western elitists and global Marxist world spheres. EMPIRE is what America and EU have become through the increasing authoritarianism in the western Republics and Federations. Rebellion is the majority of Citizenry in the West and Alderaan is a small portion of the political and corporate elite. Clinging to the less authoritative way of the recent past.

When the fan work, the games, the animated shows can be THIS good, it really just underscores how inconsistent the prequel films were and how unable Abrams was do a decent job of things even though so many people can do so much better with it. That's why I don't accept the corporate canon, and, if I had to choose instead of deciding for myself what stays and what goes, I'd go with the Legends expanded universe as canon instead.
The Empire would have been the greatest government in history is its Emperor wasn't psychopath like Palpatine. Imagine if it were lead by someone like Dooku. An idealist who knew the difference between the government and its people. A leader with that understanding would have made the Empire into a state that the people would want to fight for.
