My curiosity got me. I wanted to know why they were winning at BBMAs..so I checked out BOY WITH LUV it was good but MAKE IT RIGHT made me want to know more. I discovered their personalities on interviews, their variety show, their performances, and how humble and genuine they are. I became ARMY in MAY 2019 and it is the greatest decision of my entire 36 years of life

@@JasKenny This list is just in chronological order. I do love 2 Cool 4 Skool because they were introducing themselves and asking ones What is their dream is. Everything they do has a message, deeper meaning because of this it is hard to pick a favorite album or song. They have something for any mood, feeling, or situation. Their album BE was a huge comfort they made that album to not only help themselves but to also help anyone listening through the emotions of COVID 19....I can go on for days about each album and every song. Their entire discography is perfection. They have nearly 300 songs in multiple genres and every song is gold....
My family is 3 generation Army. I'm 52, my daughter is 30 and my granddaughter is 10. We are Black Americans and my daughter has been an Army since 2014 and she introduced my entire family to BTS. First I liked their dancing until I heard Epiphany by Jin and fell in love with that. When your ready for R & B react to Love Maze, the live performance. @@JasKenny welcome to this great fandom. My mom is the first ARMY from our family but still couldn't go to a BTS concert only my elder brothers went to the concert we tried our best to buy tickets to the whole family when they were in London but it was sold out in minutes😌

@@JasKenny I really got into BTS last August when Dynamite came out but I knew about them quite a while before that because my daughter was into them. I really thought they were just for teenagers until I decided to do a little research. They have really helped my daughter and I to have a closer relationship.
I am 34, have been a fan of BTS since 2015 but feel like I really became ARMY in 2017 when I was going through a really hard time in my life both with medical issues and personal issues and the song "Not Today" came out. This became my power song and for 2 years I played it every morning immediately after waking up. The whole song is a message of fighting for yourself and not giving up... there is one verse specifically where the lyrics were sampled from a MLK speech that I love:

At 34 I am older than all the BTS members, the oldest by 6 years, however I have never had such a connection in my life to any other artist where SO MUCH of their music resonates in such a meaningful way as BTS. Nor have I ever spent as much money supporting any other artist because of it haha, but so worth it. I will support them as much as I can because I personally feel I have received so much from them in terms of strength, healing, consolation, understanding... and of course the ARMY community (which although is so huge of course there are some toxic people in general is overwhelmingly supportive and positive as a whole, but also super protective).
There are 2 sayings you will hear a lot. The first is you find BTS when you need them most, and the second is BTS is the genre. Both true. You ask for a favorite song but they have such a wide variety of music and more than 200 songs out, I have like a top 10 and even that shifts with mood haha. I will go back to Not Today though because it by far helped me mentally when I really needed strength.

BTS helped me getting over the passing of my mom. I was feeling down and I started listening to the song Spring Day. After listening to the song I felt better and had a smile on my face. I will forever be thankful for them.

Thanks for reacting. Just so you know xceleste made a new updated version of BTS hardships video since this video was released. Also it's hard to hear you guys with the video audio being too loud so if you are going to talk pause the video (just a helpful tip) or lower the video volume. I have to laugh a little when people say 7 is a lot of people in a group. Because there are kpop groups such as Twice that has 9 members, Seventeen has 13 members, and NCT that has 23 members. 7 is pretty average for a kpop group. Also BTS new digital single called Butter comes out on May 21st.

@@JasKenny I have been a BTS fan (or ARMY) for 2 years now. I was supposed to see them in concert last June at Soldier Field in Chicago for the first time, but of course the pandemic hit and halted those plans. But being a BTS fan has been awesome and their music has really helped me during difficult times in my life and helped put a smile on my face. BTS get a lot of hate for no reason and still aren't recognized as "real" music artists to a lot of people. But they continue to make music, break records, and inspire people all over the world. And don't worry about not knowing certain things about kpop, we've all been there. Can't wait to see more reactions.

Thanks for watching this guys! I have been an ARMY for almost two years now. They helped me get through some dark times in my life, and they help me to become a better person each and every day. They even helped me figure out what I wanted to do with my life.
Their Map of the Soul albums are based on Jungian Psychology, and analyzing each and every lyric from those albums made me realize that I wanted to study Psychology as a career. In August, I will be going to college to earn my degree in Psychology...

Thank you so much for the reaction! I have been an Army since late 2019 and it has been the best decision I have made in the 14 almost 15 years of my life. Army comes in all ages, genders, races, nationalities, etc. This fandom is truly beautiful. It really is true that BTS come into your life when you need them the most. BTS came into my life in 2019 during a really dark and hard time in my life, I was struggling mentally and there was so much going on in my life. BTS helped bring me out of the depressed state I was in and gave me my happiness back. They brought me happiness during a time I though I'd never be happy again and taught me and showed me what happiness was. They have also helped me learn to love myself and be confident in myself. If it wasn't for them I don't know where I'd be right now. For the past 11 years of my life I've lived without my mom in my life (she's not dead just not in my life) and I've been being raised by my dad since I was 3 (I'll be 15 in November). It's honestly been hard being a girl without having my mom in my life but she's missing out on so much because of the decisions she made when I was young. One thing that made me love them is thier lyrics and message. Thier lyrics are so comforting and they helped me in so many ways. Anyways, I hope that you are able to find a safe place in Army just like so many of us. It's beautiful to me that BTS and Army are like family. Kpop has helped me so much and I've made amazing online friends because of it. I really hope that you are enjoying the journey and don't worry about joining "too late", it is never too late! 💜💜☺💜

@@JasKenny Thank you! Tbh, I do one-day want to reach out to my mom and talk with her because I want and need her to know the pain that she caused me and the person I have become. I also want to see her sometime in the future because I miss her even though I don't love her (I know to some that might sound horrible but I just don't love her and she has caused me alot of pain). Right now, I don't want a mother-daughter relationship with her and I don't see myself wanting that in the future. I also one day want to talk to her so I can get explanations from her and get closure from everything that has happened that involves her. I'm happy I can finally talk about her without breaking down and I don't think about her daily. I have realized through therapy that there will always be pain and that it will never go away but I have healed and am still healing. hi! i’ve been an army since 2016. there’s a saying in the fandom that you find bts when you need them the most. for me, that was definitely true. when i became a fan, i was in a really bad place in my life. i was molested by a family member and i really just wanted to die, i guess. but ironically, the bts song “save me” popped up on my youtube recommended and then i kind of just binge watched from there. they really changed my life and helped me realize that i want to help people too. now i’m in university to get my degree in the public health field :)

I've been ARMY since 2016, but I found them in 2015. First video I really clicked with was Dope, but the Wings album changed my life. The short films they released leading up to the album release blew my fucking mind.

@@JasKenny well it was a great album for a brand new fan bc each of the members got their own solo song which they wrote and produced. And its partially based on the german novel Damien, but also connected with the BTS storyline that goes through their other MVs. It's deeply personal, artistic, and musically diverse. Although they're made some really amazing music since then, Wings is still my favorite.
I'm 32 and my mom is 59. We are major fans of BTS. In 2019, I came across Jin's solo song 'Epiphany' lyrics on my friend's instagram story one day. I've been a strong advocate of "love yourself" through my own weight loss journey the last couple of years and the lyrics spoke to me when I saw it. Hence I went to check out the lyric video of the song 'Epiphany' and I fell in love with that song. And then I started digging out a lot of all their songs and fell in love with them.

Also, been an ARMY since early 2015 and I’ve let them guide/raise me to be honest. I’d say I owe my life to them in a certain way? Don’t want to go too in depth, but meeting BTS was a turning point in my life. Turning 24 this year. Wouldn’t say we’re a fandom, more like a family. We help them achieve their goals and feel a true sense of community and love for each other. Going to a BTS concert confirmed for me that BTS and ARMY are the kindest and most accepting people in the world. We’re lucky. 🍀💜
I became army at the age of 9 I'm 14 now. I have always felt drawn to Asian music in general but came across bts songs on my recommendation on TH-cam and ever since I've looked up to them as older brothers and they helped me be happy and love myself when I didn't and they've even helped me in school 😅 they're in a very special place in my heart 💜

I’m in my 50s and have been ARMY for about six months. I really don’t know how it happened😆 - two of their songs (Mic Drop and ON Kinetic Manifesto) kept popping up and despite it not being the type of music I usually listened to I became fascinated. Then I found out more about the members, their history and most importantly their message, and that was it - I was hooked. ARMY for life💜. So many, many incredible songs but Stay Gold, Danger, Rain and The Truth Untold are definitely in my most played, and all so different from each other.

I've listened to BTS for 6 years and I never regretted becoming a fan. BTS speaks on many subjects that artists shy away from especially depression and anxiety which are the biggest topics they touch upon. My favourite song is Blue & Grey I hope you can listen to this song and read the lyrics on the MTV performance but watch it on BANGTANTV channel so you won't get copyrighted!

@@JasKenny I think it was the time I saw BTS perform DNA on BBMAs back in 2017. I had already heard of them and listened to 2 songs back in 2015 but didn't really know them until then. I listen to Korean music (k-pop, k-rap, k-hiphop, k-ballads, k-jazz, k-rock and k-R&B) for over 10 years and I've seen groups come and go but BTS was just so special. They are completely themselves in front of the camera and they aren't putting on a persona for you to like them. They say real things that people like us think and feel which made me feel so connected to them as people.
I think most fans can relate when we say we think of BTS as our family and not as celebrity figures. I think I naturally gravitated towards them once I saw their real personalities through their variety show called Run BTS that is free to watch on the app Vlive. They have about 170 episodes now but they are really just normal guys in their 20s who get to enjoy their youth on this show by playing games together. If one day you ever get to watch this show you won't regret it XD
I'll end on my favourite lyrics from Suga's song So Far Away because this song really pushed me to go back to university at the age of 25. The song helped me to try to reach my dreams that not many people in my life believed I could do and it goes like this: "Dream, though your beginnings may be humble, may the end be prosperous."

The first time i saw BTS on youtube, their dance practice. I forgot the song, but at that time i though... wow they are a really good dancer. then i watched their Music Video (MV) song "DOPE" , at 2015. since then,,, i've become an army. i learned more about their MV Theories , their lyrics meaning, their artistic side, all of their content. Thank you guys so much for the reaction - really appreciate it. I came to the boys 2-and-a-half years ago now. I had heard of them earlier, but I watched them on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and learned they had spoken at the UN the day before. I was so intrigued, I thought, 'They're using their voices for something bigger than themselves. Who are these guys?'.. And the rest is ARMY history :).
I'm 38, and these 7 wonderful people have brought such joy into my life, with their music, and with the way they move in the world. I honestly can't imagine having to walk through 2020 without them - they were such a stabilizing presence for me this past year. They are worth the time, and the hype. There is no one else like them in music today.
I really can't choose a favorite song. I do love their song 'Spring Day', which is a favorite of many fans, and well-loved in Korea. But I love pretty much everything they do, honestly - that's not true for everyone, but for me, it is. Currently, I'm looping their song 'Dis-ease' from their latest album, BE.
They just announced today that they'll come back with a new single called 'Butter' at the end of May. And I suspect we'll get a cb performance of the song at the Billboard Awards. So psyched. There is a storyline that runs throughout their videos. Without knowing it someone watching Fake Love make think it's a good video but also funny that J-Hope is laying on Snickers. In his first scene in the video he is in a room with parts from a carnival. If you don't know the beginning of his storyline/fictional, it seems random and people miss the symbolism. When he was very young his mother left him at a carnival. She had him shut his eyes and count. When he opened them she was gone and had left a candy bar.
Suga in Fake Love is seen in a room with a piano. His last individual scene the room is in flames.
His storyline, his mother taught him how to play the piano and she died in a house fire.
Jungkook in Fake Love is able to see each member without them knowing. He feels left out and is trying to understand what is going on with them.

I was at a friends plc late n we were in kitchen. I heard the tv n music in the living-room.. I went to see... who was singing those beautiful vocals?! They were on a talk show.. my first 3 thoughts/reactions ~ 1. Whoa! Beautiful! 2. Mmmm! Wait a minute! I dunno what they’re saying?! 3. Wow! They look Fine! 🤯
When I went home, I looked them up the next day... I didnt eat or sleep, or do Saturday laundry... I watched and read up about BTS til Sunday around 9pm. Fell dead asleep. Woke again around 4am. Went to work. I’ve been ARMY since the next Tuesday or Wednesday. But from the beginning, I’ve had BTS in my life Every Day. This was May, 2019. Been going thru so many different challenges, tough life things... BTS’s tracks and encouraging personal words, and some of their personal... mmm ways of being... really Encourage me, give me Hope,.. Ahh! As Yoongi has said (paraphrased) "There’s BTS behind me. It’s so reassuring.” (He said ARMY which I changed to BTS)

BTS started forming in 2010, with the youngest being 13 and the oldest 18/19 (when recruited), they argued a lot at first since they live together, but have learned to appreciate and respect each other over the years, they now see each other as family
I don't recommend starting this now, but once you know them more, The Rise of Bangtan is a fan-made document series by an Army who is a professional video editor, it goes through every detail of their career from pre-debut days, it is known as THE best BTS documentary series in the community

I'll start off with N.O (2013) being my favorite title song, dissing the education system, and just the society as a whole
We On (2013) is definitely up there as well...you probably won't hear much recommendations for this song, it's so underrated 😔 it's a diss song with swag that sounds AMAZING
Oh and Bapsae (2015) is the real deal, not only is the lyrics incredibly amazing, talking about social classes, but the song and choreography is also top notch
Young Forever (2016) just hits different, it is a super meaningful and emotional song not only to Armys, but to BTS as well, Jimin has a tattoo of it
And of course the queen herself, Spring Day, it's indirectly referring to the Sewol tragedy in 2014 and she haven't left the Korean charts since being released in 2017
the above songs all include the 7 members and I prefer hip hop based songs, so this is quite biased to old school BTS, and if I could include some solo/mixtape songs, I would probably put Strange ft. RM (Suga's mixtape song) and Trivia: Love (RM's solo) on the list too

>RM story.
RM was underground rapper before joining bighit and went by his name "Runch Randa" in underground hip hop. and post many of his work on hip hop community website.He later changed his name from runch randa to "Rap Monster" , and Rm was noticed by his work and his live performance by (Rapper Sleepy of the hip hop duo ) . Sleepy saw Rm skills and potential and recommended Rm to (Hitmanbang CEO of Big hit) . Hitmanbang met with Rm and selected him as First member "Main Rapper" and leader of group .Hitmanbang was impressed by his rapskills.Rm joined bighit and become trainee in 2010. and he trained for 3 years (2010-2013) training for dancing and work to improve on everything. bcs he had no experience in dancing. after releasing Mono album playlist in 2018 , he changed his name to Rm=Real me.
>Suga story
Suga was also the underground rapper , he was also part of hip hop crew in his (Daegu hometown) . he was also very interested in arranging music. He auditioned for bighit in 2010 and passed the audition and originally signed as big hit producer but become "Lead Rapper" and become trainee for 3 years . he had bboying experience in past . and he was also player of basket ball team in his hometown. After getting into an accident , his shoulder get damage and he did not do bboying. but he was not bad in dancing , he was good. He also took dancing lessons and worked on his voice.
>Jhope story
Jhope was underground street dancer in underground dance team "Neuron" in his hometown. he was well known of his dance skills and also won national dance competition in 2008 . He was not a rapper but he was familiar with hip hop . And was very interested in hip hop , he also gave audition in bighit and selected as "Dance Leader/ 1st Main Dancer" of bts. He become trainee and trained for 3 years and learned rapping from Rm and Suga.
>Jin story :
Jin was a theater student and wanted to become actor before joining bighit. One day he was going on street and one of bighit director looked at him attracted by his visuals and told him If you want to give audition in our company to become kpop idol . He immediately agreed and gave audition and passed the audition and joined bighit and become trainee in 2011 . he trained for 2 year vocal and dance lesson , bcs he had no experience in singing or dancing , he really worked hard on both things. and become "Vocalist" of bts .
> Jungkook
Jungkook was very passionate for singing and wanted to become singer , he auditioned for Singing competition "SuperStarK" from their he was noticed by 7 kpop agencies including bighit bcs of his amazing voice . Many kpop agencies contacted him to become trainee of their company but he chose Bighit bcs of Rm , Jungkook saw Rm on TV and he really liked Rm that's why he joined bighit bcs of Rm in 2011and become "Main Vocalist" .Jungkook knows kpop idols dance , so his passion for dance also grows more , he had dancing experience before joinnig bighit but he was not trained and he is naturally talented in many things , he had blackbelt in taekondo and he was very flexible so he trained easily in bighit for 2 years and become "Lead Dancer" and "Center of bts" for his powerful vocals and dancing. For chill songs I like alot from their Albums like Truth Untold, Louder than Bombs etc. But my absolute favourite is tracks by the Rap line - RM, Suga, J-hope. Tracks like Ddaeng, Ugh, Outro Tear are my favourites.
I've been an Army since last Summer and I'm gutted I didn't discover them sooner! These talented boys deserve the love despite media hiding them from us due to language barrier. I know they will continue to reach greater heights! 💜.

For the BTS hardships you should react to "BTS Hardships 2013-2021 updated" by XCeleste. Also, some information for BTS upcoming activities in MAY....so BTS will be dropping a new Single called "Butter" for their new Album on May 21st. And on May 26th they will be launching the new BTS Meal at McDonald's same as the Travis Scott and J Belvin meal. The meal is a 10 piece nugget with medium sized fries and a coke and a special Korean spicy sauce you can't normally get in the states if you are curious on what the meal is. And if you just want a simple, quick guide on who the members are individually then I suggest "A guide to BTS (2021 edition)" by jiminluvr. Also, tell me what genre of music you want to listen to for BTS and I'll give you some suggestions.

Oh, also I just checked and I've officially marked a little over 2 years in the fandom. I only know this because I remember my first BTS comeback being "Boy With Luv" but my the song that got me into the fandom was BTS "Fake Love". And my journey with BTS is a little weird because I actually know BTS years before when they attended the BBMA'S in 2017 but at that time I thought they were overrated for no reason. But around early 2019 I discovered another Kpop group called "Blackpink" from another TH-cam channel. Then eventually I re-discoved BTS and have been an Army ever since!

@@JasKenny Sorry about posting the same comment it was by accident and no they didn't have the same journey. BTS came from a small unknown almost bankrupt company while Blackpink came from the Big Three. Because in Kpop its monopolized by the big three companies SM, YG [BP company], and JYP which are the biggest companies in Kpop. So you could say they were privileged in some ways but it doesn't necessarily mean they had it easy. But compared to what BTS went through they had it much easier. Y'all seen when you watch the BTS hardships.

I've been ARMY since late 2019. I had no interest in KPOP or other Korean music. Came across BTS by chance and completely ignored them until I decided to click on a clip that showed up on my TL. I immediately saw something in them that made them stand out from the generic, manufactured music I had come to expect from Kpop. They were different. They were authentic. And I fell in love with their hop hop and R&B tracks. And just to be clear, I still don't like KPOP in general. Some fave BTS songs:

Well, that is a difficult question to answer. A lot of things... I met them when I was at a low point of my life and their music helped me get through the hard times. The positivity, messages they send through their music got to me the most.
Hope you will be exposed to their music more with the recommendations.
As you are just getting to know them, I think you should start the mini series of videos called "The Rise of Bangtan" (the channel has the same name). It is a very good introductory video set which shows from where BTS started and their journey. It is an ongoing series, now at chapter 10. It will end soon, so I hope you can start reacting to it.
I would also recommend THIS IS BTS ARMY by xCeleste and "The Most Beautiful Life Goes On" BTS introduction video by The Asian Theory channel.
Just an FYI, there are explanation videos to their music videos and the songs that don't have music videos (not all).
So, if you react to a song, I suggest that you watch a video that explains the song/music video. NOT the lyric videos.
If you like dancing aspect... they have dancing practice videos (choreography) for their songs as well.
There is also a cohesive storyline that runs through BTS's discography, but it is too deep for you at the moment. You can try it when you get a bit familiar with the group.
I became officially an ARMY in 2016 when their album WINGS was released. WINGS is about temptation and loss of innocence. Inspired by a book named "Demian" by author Herman Hesse.
BTS ALWAYS has a lot of symbolism etc. stuffed into their videos. Smart ARMYs decipher those hints and share with the rest of the fandom. There are ARMYs who call themselves "ARMY Theorists" due to this reason. It is a rabbit hole if you start properly getting into BTS.
