Well done, Matt on the redpoll young credit to you, mate. I buy the dandelions & milk thistle liquid from easyyem. Matt has a few other vitamins in too brilliant stuff. With the wild dandelions. I put them through the nutra bullet and turned into liquid. Birds love it. Just put a litre of water with a drop of virkon S in. Just kills any nasties. A lot of dandelions have slugs & snails on them & leave a trail of slime not visible to the eye. So I cut the yellow petals off & the stems, too. Then it's just the seed pod, which I blend down with the water in the nutra bullet. Anyway, back to the birds. I hope you get a full round with the bullfinches. I've a hen that's due any day now.
Great video, will be sticking around for them cartwheels soon. Quick question, what do you put in the bottom of all of your cages? Looks like small woodchips?
Hi, I have a question about the goldfinch mating if you don't mind please. Do both male and female do the side to side swaying courtship dance? All I can find online is reference to the males doing it. I have a pair where the supposed hen does it too
Hi Matt I seen the rubber tubing and the wee tool for putting it on the rings. I used that for a first time last year, have you any tips on how to remove the tubing later? I found it a nightmare to get it off
@@TheCanaryRoom aye I had used a scalpel before helping an old hand remove rubber piping he used back then. As a boy I had no problems keeping a steady hand but now with medication my hands aren’t always steady and I cut a toe off a wee cinnamon redpoll chick last year so I need to find another solution as I won’t do that again Matt cheers

Thanks for the heads up, much appreciated 🙏
Love the redpolls. 1 tip, cut the white fluff top off the dandelions, saves getting a shed full off dandelion fluff 😂
Great idea!!

It’s a pain in the neck to get off. I actually use a scalpel to do mine but requires a steady hand (that I don’t have!)

A quick question, can a female goldfinch mule breed?
They will lay and some people have fertile birds so it’s possible but unlikely I’d say
I've more chance of kartwheeling 🤣🤣
