Just wanted to pop on Matt, I think you may remember me. Had trouble breeding, eggs were all clear first round . Today I look and my hen second round 4 eggs, 1 hatched. 3 look good one is clear so I'm leaving for a few more days. We are at 13-15 days for egg laying June 1. Anyways thank you for everything I am more than overjoyed. I can't believe it's real and it's born and I made it possible. Your info made it possible as well. Thanks for everything Matt, I'm 36 years old and something I am a bit sad about is I didn't start birding earlier.
@@TheCanaryRoom3 babies now , Portugese harlequim, from a reputable breeder in my area. He has German rollers as well but I need to stop for now. I am becoming mad in a good way . my male has mated with my other female many times in passed 3-4 days. She is still waiting for round 2. She has built another nest and sits but no eggs. She had 5 clear first round. Anyways thanks again, nothing makes me happier than hearing the little peeps from under my hen as the babies are growing. They grow very fast and I've dropped my nest low and put some newspaper under incase.
Good morning great video them fife's look great shape and so healthy well done .Ye weather crap here in lreland to dark in the morning couldn't get full eggs bird seem to have no interest well mainly the hen 😑
A combination of things, I use exzolt throughout the season every 6 weeks for the treatment and prevention of mite. I give soluble calcium a couple of times a week, and also a multivitamin (avigold 11 in 1) hope that helps
Well done for getting some bred, I’m not clear if they’re still in the nest or not? If they are change the nest straight away, a little baby talk will dry out the mites. Give the cage and perches a good clean with a mild bleach. Exzolt is a brilliant treatment for the water, it’s expensive but will kill all the mite
Can you clarify what is baby talk ? You meant like talcum powder ? No mites here but been on here a few weeks, on my second clutch and always like to read solutions . Thank you Matt. I have 3 of 4 eggs in my second round with veins, day 7-9.@@TheCanaryRoom
@@TheCanaryRoomcheers. Love your videos. Whenever I watch, my male and 1 hen goes crazy because he can hear your birds. I am "lucky" enough to have a very loud active hen, she sounds like a rooster playing a flute !
Hi matt love the show i have a question i have breed 36 young first time round all out flying around the last 2 weeks i have lost 8 young every day the the young sits on perch falling asleep over the day he falls to the flood dead in the morning no mice or rats around ðo i give the young something like medication they are around 5 weeks old can u help thanks
Sorry to hear that mate, some losses after birds have been weaned are inevitable but not at that level. Difficult to suggest what could be going wrong, I keep mine on soaked seed and egg food for the first few months as although they take hard seed i feel they still need it. I’d sterilise the drinkers again, keep everything clean and keep going. You could try baycox but im wary about it in young canaries
I have a first year hen, 5 for first.. she had 3 on the floor and they broke. This round , 4 , all in nest , 3 are good one is clear for sure no good. My other hen that started early hasn't laid another round in 3 weeks but is actively breeding with my male..m so I hope next week, also playing building nest .
Thanks for the update Matt great episode as always.
Another very entertaining show Matt. Thanks once again.
Lovely show again Matt, much appreciated!
