      Yea, for real, this is one of the main reasons of the Reddit Exodus last year, when they stopped allowing access to third party apps. The blind community originally led the charge, before it somehow became a mod revolt, and counter-revolt against power tripping mods. The official Reddit app doesn't have adequate accessibility features.

      I was going to comment on this. Developers should get in contact with visual challanged people to help figure out features to make everything more accesable for them. Thank you for taking in the feedback!

    There has to be a fear of not being safe involved. I’m a paraplegic wheelchair user, and meeting someone new always has a bit of trepidation because you don’t know what their intentions are.

Meanwhile those seeing him think he's staring right at them and getting all *oh my* he's checking me out as he's licking the ice cream. I really liked this video highlighting some accessibility features. I have a friend who is blind, and one of the things she does is she has a setting that when she gets a message, the flashlight on her phone will start flashing. Another thing, that was actually something I was able to help her with, was that she had a black phone case, and would frequently lose her phone in her purse. I found this out after sitting with her in a waiting room for a few hours. After watching her struggle to find her phone multiple times, I helped her order a bright pink phone case. Now she has a lot less trouble figuring out where she put her phone. It's something that I didn't realize was an issue until I watched her struggle with it. I like to think I'm getting better when it comes to helping people with disabilities (as well as food allergies and intolerance, though that one I have more practice with since I like cooking for people), but I'm glad to see more ways to even just be aware

    I love how endearing these two dorks are with one another!! The way they explore the different facets of Paul's blindness, TOGETHER is inspiring and more informative.... and even more entertaining!😂 The myth busting of blindness, the difficulties, the capabilities of available tools, the comparing and contrasting of life experiences, based on their different levels of vision, etc.is done with such grace!! It's such a breath of fresh air to see a couple with a real PARTNERSHIP!! The way Matthew looked at Paul when he spoke of the snow static invading his usable vision for a second, and that he didn't know why, and the, "Oh, no" that Matthew uttered, was touching. The look said a thousand things, the prevailing thing I heard, was that Matthew was RIGHT THERE with Paul. It was as if it was happening directly to him... I miss seeing that ride or die mentality in relationships!! The info on blindness is always really cool, too! Living in the same household as my Grandparents growing up (Along with my Parents and Sis) gave me the foundation I have with blindness affecting the blind, and those who love them. As my loving, strong, stubborn Grandpa went fully blind when I was 5. I will never forget that morning!!! Nor the empathy it taught me, watching a beloved love one grapple with everything it takes to go on, while they're dealing with a new norm, but without the instructions or tools that us sighted take for granted. It's nice we have the internet now to help the blind, the disabled, and our loved ones learn the complexities of the diseases. The wrath of emotions that comes along with blindness, and other disabilities is often as tough to fight, or deal with as the disabilities themselves!! And tools , like this beautiful channel are SO helpful!! I wish we'd had them when my Grandpa was still alive. You fellas are an indispensable resource for many!! And a great source of humor, as well!!! 😂 ❤❤❤
    Take Care!

      I'm also disabled, but opposite to Paul I've always included info on that in my dating profiles. I don't want to meet someone who first thinks I'm just like everyone else and then gets annoyed at me for not being able to do things.
      My disabilities are psychiatric and neuropsychiatric, so it comes with a lot of prejudice and I do NOT want to waste my time with people who believe depression is being a little sad or ADHD is being lazy. Of course I don't list all my diagnoses, but I write that I don't want contact with people who have never had personal or seen up close mental health problems. It's just not gonna work since I've been severely ill for 20 years.
      In dating profiles we get to choose what people we want to meet, and if I can avoid it I will DEFINITELY not meet ableist and prejudiced people.

    • @Dragonmoon8526
      @Dragonmoon8526 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SamirCCat Oh agreed, I follow another channel. They have a disability and say the same thing for themselves.
      I understand both sides. On one hand, you don't want to be reduced to just your disability.
      But, on the other hand, you don't want to waste your time on people who can't manage it.
      I'm fully abled. But, I would have no problem dating someone who has a disability.
      But, I'll admit I'd like to know beforehand. This way, I can research and have a better understanding of the person, on a very basic level, obviously, but enough to get an idea of what limitations they have.
      IE they're paralyzed, and I planed a rock climbing date.

    • @SamirCCat
      @SamirCCat 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Dragonmoon8526 But I don't get reduced to only my disability if I just mention it as part of my profile tex?? It's not gonna be the only thing I write! I'll start with my interests and personality etc, and mention it towards the end. 1 sentence doesn't make the other 20 disappear. My disabilities are part of me, but not the whole me. I'm not ashamed and there's nothing I can do to cure them. I shouldn't be such a big thing that divides the masses, it's just a part of the essential information about me. If you think you're reduced to something just because you mention it, that stands for YOU.

    • @Dragonmoon8526
      @Dragonmoon8526 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SamirCCat Agreed. All accurate and valid points. In truth, most people probably aren't so narrow-minded. It's the ones that determine your challenges for you. Based on their own preconceived notions, ones that they have inaccurately assumed, based on information gained from television, books, or movies.
      Granted in the social media age plus the internet in general, I would think this is less of a problem. But, it's surprising the level of some people's ignorance.

    Matthew's dating profile is FIRE! Gorgeous pic. Awesome interests. I'd be like he can't be real. You both are perfect together. I met my hubby on a dating app. It was free at the time. I think you need to pay now. But with that came a lot of "toads" for me. I was about to give up and then I found the one. So it definitely happens. I do wish after Paul was explaining all the things that help him. I wish a lot of things in this world were accessible. So much is not. And so many companies and even people don't care about making things accessible either. So I definitely feel for anyone who needs accessibility and they can't get it.

    It is so interesting to see what accessibility settings you use on your phone. I'm visually impaired and have a Samsung phone. I use easy mode which makes all the apps larger and simplifies the layout of my phone. I also use zoom, bold text, and color vibrancy. I struggle to read white text on black it hurts my eyes so I just use the standard look of black text on white. Easy mode also comes with a magnifier app that helps me a lot. I also take screenshots when I can't zoom in. I do this a lot with Instagram stories and reels when the text is way too small or in a weird font. I have so many random screenshots on my phone. I also use screenshots for my reference pictures for my art. It makes it easy to zoom in on the details. I also use standard brightness since I have a lot of light sensitivity due to my eye disease.
    Thank you so much for sharing this video. I can't wait to watch part 2.

    The problem with privacy, at least on my side of the disability space, is that it’s nearly impossible for me to pass ANYONE’s vibe check without disclosing that I’m disabled. Social disabilities are a totally different beast than physical ones; we’ve got it a lot easier in most ways, but (at least in my case) most people hate me within ten seconds if they aren’t told that 1) I feel the same emotions and the same empathy as a normal person and 2) I am trying my absolute hardest to translate that into a form everyone else recognizes.
    It’d be nice not to have to disclose my autism to every random person in the world, but my vibes have to be graded on a curve.

    This video was so informative and it came at such a wonderful time I felt the need to just say thank you. I spend four months in Florida for the winter and I have neighbors who are in their 80s and I love them from the minute I moved in. They have been married for over 60 years and the wife passed away. The husband suffers from glaucoma and over the years it has gotten increasingly worse. He has one adult child who lives in another state and I can see that they are ready to push him into a slot he is not ready to go into. I know how hard it is to slowly lose your independence not just as a personal thing but as people see you and I want to make him as independent as he can be before I leave again in June. this video showed me a lot and tomorrow I will be trying to show him a lot. I can see but I very bad eyesight I like to have the letters bigger so I can see what I’m texting. Thanks for explaining the different blindnesses that people have. It’s good to know people really don’t explain things like that and then people don’t know what that person‘s going through. ❤

    This is really interesting to see from the other side of the spectrum. I have severe light sensitivity, so my screens are always on "dark mode" with the "eye comfort shield". I light my house with glorified night lights, and when I'm outside or under fluorescent lighting, I'm nearly always in wrap around, very dark sunglasses. I love your content; thank you for sharing your life with us.

    I like the Speak Screen feature because I can choose the speaking speed and I can tap on what I want it to read OR i can just press “play” and it’ll read the whole page! I actually mostly use it to hear messages in japanese because while I can understand it, it’s harder for me read!

    Sensory overload is a very real thing. I wind up hiding somewhere, shaking and sometimes whimpering. Fortunately, I'm rarely alone & someone in my friends group helps me.
    I'm also disabled, but in different ways from Paul. I can listen in and provide my feedback.
    I need black text on white. White on black destroys my focus and produces a halo around the text. And hurts. I've met someone who needs low contrast because he can't read either black/white or white/black.
    As soon as Paul said 'my eyes relaxed a little'. Oh how well I know that.
    "See that, that word's too small for me". Yep. Me too.
    Websites that force text size are the seventh circle of hell.

    There actually is a zoom feature in the accessibility features! You use three fingers to tap to zoom and unzoom, and drag with three fingers to navigate while zoomed in. So you might not need to screenshot everything!

    You two are amazing!!!
    If you didn’t know, there’s a feature that allows you to put a magnifying glass thing on your screen by tapping twice with three fingers, and settings can be added to the magnifier like invert, grayscale, etc. as well as amount of zoom, and many other things that I haven’t tinkered with!
    Not sure how useful it would be to a blind person as I am not, but something to experiment with if you like (and if you didn’t know about that setting lol)
    Stay awesome

    oh Paul and Matthew, I will so save this video and pull it back up once I am at my mum's house ( I live in France and she lives in the Netherlands). She has macula degeration and the options to enlarge things on her phone or Ipad would be so useful for her. Especially the rim around buttons you can push would be useful as to her they are invisible. I find tech daunting, but this shows me what to look for, so I hope I can experiment with her with screen reversals or voice overs and enlarging letters. Thank you so much! 🥰

    I have physical disabilities myself and ive never dated but its still one of the things I worry about when I think about it. Mine can flare up randomly (sometimes I can feel alright but a minute later I can get to the point where just being out of bed can be really difficult, and it can sometimes last over a week) so I struggle with making and keeping plans. And even just the thought bringing up or trying to explain my disabilities to potential dates is nerve-racking.
    Or even telling friends. I have a few online friends, most of which ive known since middle school (time ive known them ranges between 5-15 years) and most of them I've only recently started going into my disabilities with (though my disabilities have progressed over the years and weren't quite as debilitating as when I first met them)
    And while my friends have been really supportive, it still feels different than telling a potential date because I would be dating with the intent of possible marriage, so a future boyfriend may end up needing to live with my disabilities and probably even needing to help with them at some point, so its scary to think about, and I wouldn't know when in the relationship to bring it up
    P.S. Sorry for the long comment, I tend to ramble even when typing, lol

    My sight is pretty good for my age, but I seldom use my phone for anything much except calls and texts. I almost exclusively use my tablet which is lots bigger and easier to see with. I've also just started using a lighted magnifying glass that I got on Amazon. It's great for reading very small print.

    As a guy with a physical disability (Cerebral Palsy, full wheelchair user for mobility) and it is almost impossible for me to get a date with the apps and everything..... Im 34 and I already feel like I'm destined to die alone, surrounded by puppies/kittens..... which doesn''t sound too bad in theory :D.
