In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

The first episode always feels like the first day of school and all your friends are together in the other class and you're stuck with a bunch of strangers. By the end of the series, you have never known anyone else, these people are all you need. I love this show.

Well put. I felt that for this series especially since i didnt know any of these people before this series - every other series has at least 1 person that I'm familiar with. But by the end i was sad that it had to end because i enjoyed them all as much as any other series' contestants

Exactly! By the end everyone has a nickname, has said something totally inappropriate, has fallen in some way, shape or form and has been yelled at by the extremely exasperated teacher. The best ways to go from strangers to friends.
Joe Thomas and Alex Horne were made for each other, their combined social awkwardness is a treat.

Joe's "Get as close to Alex as possible" task was just brilliant.
That is the one task I would most want to do myself out of the entire show.

And he was working at a disadvantage, however minimal: he was the only one of the five who had snow on the ground, and whose progress could have been trackable.

I saw the "hide yourself in the trainyard" task almost a year ago. From this day on I was a changed man...
It's the one that got me to binge watch all the episodes at the time, and keep up with it as they came out.
This was also the task that sucked me into Taskmaster!
The train yard task also was my gateway to addiction

@@seanr1899 I think it'll be quite a bit longer, since season 10 only just aired. They have to get the new cast to do all the tasks and I think that generally takes several months.

Can I just say, I love Iain's ranting and incoherent screaming during the puppets task. "Wellitsnotapuppetisitwellitsnotapuppetisit!? Itsnotapuppet not a puppet, it's a BANK with A SPEAKER IN ITS HEAD!" That was hilarious.
It was a perfect opportunity for Greg to award him the full 5 points for the task, and then penalise him 10 points for his puppet based pedantry outburst.
He was right and he should say it.
If you spent 5-10 years of your life around puppets, you'd probably be pretty angry too.
“I play the guitar but I wait to be asked” is great. We all know those people who carry around their guitars and just play whenever they want regardless of the social situation. So annoying.
RIGHT that was truly the most seductive thing that was said. People playing guitar in social situations, especially when theyre playing songs nobody knows, is my pet peeve

I have nothing but appreciation and gratitude for Mr. Horne and everyone working on Taskmaster. This show, for me, is one of the few good things about this year.
Pity they're down to mostly d-level celebs though. Truly scraping the bottom of the barrel for the most part this season. The current (10th season) has actually funny/talented participants.

I so feel Sian on, "Can we just keep going?" for the hide and seek task. It seemed so fun! I want that to be a new sport people play! *And* it'd work with social distancing! So many variations i can think of too! Could do it with a paintball sniper, not blaring notice for when things change, so many ways. *Love* that task.

was series 10 filmed during the pandemic? I haven't watched it yet but they sit really far away from each other and since the series was uploaded just prior to series 8 (for reason I don't know) I assume it's what you're referring to

I just noticed: on the wording of the trainyard task, it was "the task starts when Alex ducks down, one minute from now." There was nothing preventing them from starting to move at that point, before the task had started. They could have just sprinted towards Alex, in plain sight, for 70 seconds before he was actually allowed to "see" them.

I love that Iain used what was on the card to shut Greg up immediately. Greg tried to justify his stance by saying seductive was in the instructions, but seductive is subjective. But Iain was right, "make the best ventriloquist dummy" was the FIRST instruction, and if the mouth doesn't move it can't appear as if the sound is coming from the dummy. Thereby, not a ventriloquist dummy. Not subjective. Lou's attempt was valid and I feel she got shortchanged being lumped in with people who did the task wrong.
This is why I like the classic 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 numbering system. three people getting 4 points is just strange. Makes for better TV when they're competing live for their ranks.

It’s sad looking back now that Paul has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s. It’s also interesting because in the first task he struggles with hearing and Parkinson’s has been linked to hearing loss.

The task of Alex hiding on the bridge is my favourite of all time, the best of all tasks

One of my favorite casts, and the sneak-up-on-Alex task was one of the best tasks. Can't wait to watch this all again.
A reminder: Paul Sinha taped this entire series without knowing he was suffering from Parkinson's. It was watching his performance on this series that made him realize something was wrong. And it explains so much about what's to come.

For the record I don't think it's his Parkinson's (which caused his shoulder problem) that is his downfall. It's his absolutely charming, complete and total lack of common sense.
Paul found out before the studio recordings he had Parkinson. He had hurt his shoulder before filming at the house and it wasn't healing and they found out it was Parkinson causing it to not heal properly. Paul also made it very clear it wasn't Parkinson's that made him fail most of the tasks that he was just that bad at the game. He did say his hurt shoulder did slow him down for some of the physical tasks though.
That's untrue. He's said that he thought Parkinson's had no effect at all.

The railyard task - "your task starts when Alex ducks down for the first time, one minute from now." There was no requirement that they stand there on the first bridge until Alex ducked - they could have run for cover immediately.

The algorithm sent me the task at the train yard and I loved it so much it led me to now where I'm watching the whole show from the first series. This was the task that hooked me! The task in the train station is the first thing I've ever seen from the Taskmaster show. TH-cam suggested it to me during the first lockdown in France. I thought it was hilarious and I couldn't stop laughing. I litterally binged the show during the lockdown. It became pretty much my only source of laughter during this period. So yeah, thank you for that, Little Alex Horne and Greg Davies.

I was worried they'd stopped posting these forever. It's a Christmas miracle!
I'm so happy that Taskmaster Series 8 is finally getting put up! The "Get close to Alex" task is what started me watching this show on TH-cam! TH-cam started recommending individual tasks, and "Get close to Alex" was incredibly memorable. I found it ridiculous, and I loved it. When I realized that there were full episodes on the official channel, I started to catch up for real. And now, we finally got to *the* episode!
I will, of course, continue watching, because this is still ridiculous and fun. But I live in the United States, so this TH-cam channel is basically my only source for the show.
I have never commented on a TH-cam video before but I thought I should just say that being from Canada, it is tough to find British programming and this is by far one of my favouite shows. It brings a lot of laughs from some of the best British personalities and comics out there! I have to say that James Acaster's season has been my favourite so far, but I look forward to all of the hilarious people that are brought onto this genius of a program! Thank you for posting them online! I'm so excited for. more laughs with my family and friends!

I've seen so many of the shows that Lou has worked and wrote on, but this is my first time really seeing her on screen and she's genuinely brilliant! No wonder she's so successful!
Iain going "OOOHHHHH :D" when the banana(that he was peeling with his foot under a time limit) popped off the rest of the bunch already pre-peeled, is exactly what Taskmaster is all about. Getting ridiculously excited over a positive turn in a situation you would NEVER be in outside of the show.
when the "perm lotion" scene came on - i had a full on flashback to being about 5(?) and at a Boston Store with my Mom, to meet/pick up her mom from the salon inside . . . the odor was SO STRONG i can remember it nearly 40 years later.

I just came across this show yesterday for some unknown reason. And I must say, at first, I wasn’t sure I would enjoy it. But I am absolutely hooked! I truly wish the US had game shows where brains are used and it’s comical. Y’all got a new fan and subscriber! Thanks for this wonderful production!!!
