    Excellent video. Nice simplistic way to present the game flow. Much appreciated. I’m new to FoW but not at all new to table top wargames. Each one has its own nuances even though many similarities are shared. You do a good job of presenting everything here. I feel I can get started now right away. Thanks for posting this! 👍

    I have a couple of quick questions regarding movement and the ‘facing’ of vehicles.
    First off, every tutorial I’ve seen shows tanks moving in basic straight lines. If I want to turn my vehicle as it travels, is there any restrictions on how this works?
    For example, if I want to drive around a building at tactical speed, would I simply move 5” forward, turn 90 degrees, and move a further 5”?
    Also, at the end of the movement, are there any restrictions on vehicle facing/orientation? Or can I elect to have my vehicle face in any direction after moving?
    For example, say I travel 10 inches ‘southbound’. When I finish moving could I have my vehicle face ‘northbound’ IE end my move facing in the opposite direction that I travelled?
    I hope this makes sense!

    • @GiftofChaosStudio
      @GiftofChaosStudio 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rhere's no restrictions on turning. You can bend your measuring tape and drive in a semi circle or move how you want. The only restriction is distance, other units in the way whaen you end your turn

    Is there a way to play this with 1:72 but still on a smaller scale or would that ruin the game? I see it is played with 1 to 100 but I already have some 1 to 72 models. Maybe smaller scale skirmishes at closer ranges?

    • @mattygee37
      @mattygee37 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Is 4th bad? Or is it that there's no late war flavour books out yet?

    • @ThePooppantsman
      @ThePooppantsman 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mattygee37 I'll tell you my view is 4th 100% bad.. short answer no.. they did fix some issues 3rd had, but in doing so I think they went at it GW way. The lists are very cookie cutter even when the new books are out. Like the new ghost company book. The lists are bland and it's really lost the spice of running a force. I mostly play Indian and once the new late war books come out I won't have an army and the mid war card is a joke. So I'm very bitter they made it almost to easy and very bland game now.

    • @randallcase1009
      @randallcase1009 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Kind of harsh and unfair. Also, rather inaccurate too. Have you even looked at the 4th edition books yet?
      www.flamesofwar.com/online_store.aspx?CategoryID=13709
      The book this guy is using is the STOPGAP book put out to cover late war until it gets its proper treatment. Sort of like this book. Look familiar by chance?
      www.flamesofwar.com/hobby.aspx?art_id=944
      FoW did this years ago with previous editions where they put out a generic set of army lists to tie you over until more detailed books come out. Also, they didn't chuck the old books out in this edition. There is a version, that was given away for free, that gives conversions for old 3rd Edition books.
      www.flamesofwar.com/portals/0/Documents/Version4/SpecialRulesBook.pdf
      Finally, they are coming out with more detailed books this year and in coming years... basically doing what they did in 3rd edition.
      www.flamesofwar.com/hobby.aspx?art_id=6384

    • @randallcase1009
      @randallcase1009 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mattygee37 It's still pretty new and they have been focused on mid-War. Late war is coming up now actually.
      Also, the current books are much like the old ones with lists aimed at specific units. For example, the US book, Fighting First, is focused on the 1st Armor Division in Tunisia (so you have M4 and M3 medium companies), but includes an infantry list based off the Big Red One (1st Infantry Division).
      These books are very similar to 3rd Edition, but they are a lot smaller. Fighting First "only" has 6 formations: M4, M3 medium, M3 light, armored rifles, rifles, and TD companies. So it's a lot smaller than say Market Garden, but does line up with say Remagen... but without any German lists. The rather sparse Afrika Korps book covers that in a limited way, with only 3 companies (!), and that is a legitimate criticism in my opinion.
