You're on of the very few gun guys on TH-cam I find myself agreeing with on almost everything. Like you said, your primary weapon is the one you have on you, and for 99% of people in America, that's going to be a handgun. Carbines are easier and more fun to shoot, but I'm not a soldier, SWAT guy or a cop with a patrol rifle. When I leave the house I don't have an AR, I have my Glock 19. Hell, even around the house, that's the gun I have *on me*, so it's the gun I train with the most. I even bought the Mantis-X to step up my dry fire practice. That thing is totally worth the money for the detailed feedback it provides.
Awesome video as always! I got into firearms a couple years ago with buying a Glock 45 as my first. I promised myself that if I was going to bring a firearm into my house, I was going to consistently train and take as many classes as I could. Two years later, I’ve taken beginner and advanced pistol classes, drill classes, active shooter classes and rifle classes, over and over again. Some of my friends think I’m crazy, but I learn something new in each class, and, practice makes perfect! Your training budget (class fees and ammo) should always cost 10x more than what you paid for your firearms. Too many people these days are buying firearms, shoving them in closets and have no clue how to use them. Take classes and regularly train!
I agree with training and I take a lot of classes but I also stop taking classes when I get a bunch I need to work on. Then I train a bunch on my own until I master stuff then I find a new type of class or a different instructor so I get a new perspective
I’ve been listening to your videos on the way to work in the morning for the past few weeks. Excited for the microphone the most so I don’t have to max out my car volume 😂
Truth be told bro.. may hurt, but those that get insulted are in denial. I take it as constructive criticism. Another eye opening video. Makes me a better firearms owner with your info and input, most certainly appreciated. No BS, I've become more mindful and attentive to gun ownership by way of you sharing your knowledge. Keep rockin your videos. Much respect for you!
Retired Disabled Veteran here, I found your stuff to be no apologies just professional opinion and experience. I am currently trying to get some of my friends past their misconceptions about what it means when SHTF. I served 27 years and did it all. Everything from dropping someone to saving someone's life that was blowing blood and snot bubbles. What you put out might upset a few people, but if it makes them reconsider what they thought they knew.... Well, that's a good thing. This video is a perfect example. Except maybe the flannel shirt and overalls ... So... Mister Golson... Let's get to the meat. A very basic precept in psychology is that people will take advice from a stranger more willingly than someone that is close to them. (Ask your wife or kids) I use your videos to show my newbies to this stuff that I am not being mean when I tell them their shit is jacked up and might just get them dead. I'm a big guy and CAN concealed carry a full-size weapon. That doesn't mean that I don't carry at LEAST one back up weapon. Knives? Got drawers full of them in my toolbox. At least one in my pocket. Boot knife. Hidden Push Blade in my belt. TASERs and ASPs? As you said: "If they got that close, I fucked up." Truth! Personally, I like to be that nasty surprise in the dark. Glad to see you found an outlet, and that you are getting better at it. Keep it up.
@@unclefreedom213 Perhaps you SHOULD discuss what to do when 'mag-drop' happens. Like: Don't panic. You should already be reaching for the next mag before it hits the floor. You know it happens. So be prepared, little Boy Scouts!
I got into the habit of shooting my carry ammo every time I'm at the range...about once a month, or so. That takes care of so many points that you made in this video...rotating ammo, practice with your carry gun, etc.
Train and shoot within your budget as well. If you can either buy a new part or buy ammo, choose ammo and shoot that. I don’t have the luxury of having a lot of expendable income so I have to be careful where it goes. And I still do my best to not let my readiness and safety be jeopardized. Which for me means a lot of dry fire. Life is a balance. Be safe. Be kind.
.40 was created as 10mm was too hot for the FBI. So they necked it down and the .40 S&W was born and implanted in a 9mm size handgun. That is why it’s “high pressure” and beats the brakes off of 9mm glock frames. If they built the gun around the round it would be ideal.
I miss my jncos 😭😭 Awesome video man lots of good hard hitting points in this one. And I’m definitely guilty of not shooting my pistol as much as rifle,i always tell myself I’m going to goto the pistol range twice as much but i never do. I’ve had a flux raider for a little over a year and it goes with me pretty much everywhere but i still carry my pistol just because i can get to it faster. The raider is in my backpack with a medkit, level 3a panel and whatever else i have with me at the time as like an “active shooter response kit”.
I wish I saw this video years ago before I bought my first handgun, a Ruger LC9s. It was hard to shoot accurately and I hated the trigger. I was dependable but I didn’t enjoy shooting it. I now sits in the back of my safe.
LCP back in the safe. Guess I was getting lazy. Great content but some of that stung just a little. Obvious not a Miami Vice fan! Lol. Thanks for the direct talk.
Great video, it’s funny to hear you talk about some of the very mistakes I made getting into this. Seeing LE transition from 9mm, to .40 and back to 9mm prompted some course correcting research. 9mm is king for two legged predators to me right now when you consider mag capacity, effectiveness, ease of follow up shots, ammo availability etc. I see you’re carrying a 320, as a LEO I’m guessing the lawsuits from other officers who said it went off, untouched, doesn’t bother you. Thanks for the great content.
Not even a little that one has close to 6k rounds zero problems. One of the big issues is agencies are cheap they will try to make a holster work over buying proper new stuff
Great video I run .300blkout and .300wm for rifles and.357mag,9mm in PCC. Handguns I run 9mm common EDC carry 10mm,.357mag woods carry. I run Beretta, Smith, Glock, Shadow Systems, Kimber.
Even if it was true that a handgun was a secondary weapon system, that's even MORE of a reason to train it harder. If your primary goes down and you need a secondary, would you not want to be absolutely sure you can do what you need to do with it? Like, if you need it, you REALLY need it.
Another one that had me check myself at least twice. I was raised that " budget"= getting the best quality using financially responsible actions, checking online for factory mags on sale, yes I do suck, for now my primary is between my ears.
I love the rant. I try to train with my carry gun at least once a month. I normally practice at 30 ft. I can hit a 30 by 30 circle target. I am not as accurate as i would like. I train at that distance because i feel that would be the most likely range i would need to defend myself at.
Agreed about the LCP. However, I take it you've never shot the LCP Max. Better sights and better trigger put it in a more useful class than its predecessor. I carry and train with it as a duty backup to my Glock 19.
I disagree on the should fit ones hand to some degree. With the vast market that is out there and the ease to rent pistols. If they can't reach the trigger and shift their hand around the grip doesn't help bad index from the holster either. @@unclefreedom213 great thx, and I am really curious what you have planned for the channel. Striking the balance where this is still fun for yourself and doable on weekends will be a tough one. If in doubt just do what you are doing, it is awesome as it is
Thank you
As always great content and keep up the great work. It's nice to see someone who actually gives a shit
Thank you
Sigs glocks and smith wesson m and p the best
Pretty much universally what is carried by almost all LE I do know some that run FN 509
Good stuff but your primary weapon dose you no good if you drop the mag out when you draw it. May as well carry a flintlock pistol at that point😂

reloading fast AF
I mean you could just go at it black beard style and keep a few on you and just NY reload your way to victory

Thank you straight from an officer's mouth plz practice plp I'm blk and tired of blk al9ne getting a firearm then I never see them or hear about them going to the range like wtf
So PSA Dagger, Cheap or Inexpensive?
Inexpensive
I still have PSA in the “cheap” category. Their new “Saber” line of rifles looks promising, and I think they’re coming along, they just aren’t in the “trust it with my life” category yet.
Inexpensive and solid
Inexpensive Taurus g3
I'm not a police officer. If I think I'm going to need a rifle I am going to turn around and go back in the house.
You win 100 percent of the gunfights you avoid
