All the content here is amazing, but for me the growing uncomfortable truths collection is a true standout

Probably because how many of us see comment sections full of people that know everything about nothing. Everyone that’s never been in a gunfight wants to convince you they know what it’s like to be in a gunfight.😂 I try not to argue with them because there’s no point. I simply reply “ life humbles us all, no exceptions.”😂🤷‍♂️ I enjoy people who have the patience to call out the stupidity. That’s why even though they probably won’t listen, they need to hear the uncomfortable truths.

@@sway696 yep, I always say, I‘ll know it once I have been there. Something having kids taught me 😁.
But then there are also practitioners who cling to anecdotes and personal experiences, refusing critical thinking, science and studies. Doesn’t mean it didn’t happen but a statistical n=1 isn’t strong evidence for general truth. Everybody knows a heavy smoker who lived into his 90s, true fact but no evidence that smoking doesn’t cut your life short statistically.
So there is value to both, the experience and the theory.
But what is needed most, is to be humble and to accept that we are wrong many times, need to learn every day of our lives and every person is able to teach us something.
Philosophers rant over 😂. Uncle Freedom is awesome and is popping some echo chamber. Awesome, and brave.

But you dis the magic action you LEARNED you didn't play the 'just as good' game. You learned and said man this ain't it and you corrected it. That's what this is about. If I can save one patriot a video from blowing money on something subpar or unsafe then it's worth it. I've made the mistakes in spades might as well tell everyone so they can skip that part

Steel in the back isn't the worst idea.
Spall is less of a threat. If it weighs more, it counter balances the mags and other things on the front.
It is thinner, so, sitting in a vehicle is more comfortable.

As an artist, i have had to do a lot of color studies and understanding light and shadow. So some food for thought from someone who has studied real life and attempts to recreate it. Black multi cam is cool. That's it.
Anything camoflaged during the day will continue to blend in at night. There is no need for another pattern. Also this comes up a lot for painting your rifle. Black occurs in nature, but it is very rare. Most everything is a deep shade of color that appears black next to what it is against, until you put it next to actual black. You can paint black in a camo pattern on your rifle, but unless you're fading it or putting light amounts on, it can stand out if bold. M81 works cause its meant for being in the woods, under canopy and in deeper veggitation. It worka by creating the appearance of cast shadows where there isn't one. If you're in that type of eviornment it worka well, but you'll be in shadows a lot naturally so not as necessary.
I would encourage many people to get out and actually take a moment to look at how shadows fall on things and how the colors change, even though technically they haven't. It's not necessary, but it can be a fun exercise and can help understand how camo works and how you don't necessarily need camo patterns even, just some tones across gear that match with enviornment. Also, your rifle will have pic/mlok slots and other 3d elements and things that will create shadows or darker areas naturally.

I have _personally_ witnessed many shooter's battery/optic/mount failures on handguns and rifles. Are they faster to use than iron sights? Almost certainly. More dependable? Not in my experience. I do use optics on the rifles (well, not the Garand) WITH zeroed iron sights.
WML can be useful, but you MUST be trained/experienced in their use. There is far more to it than the on/off switch.
Carry however you prefer. I will follow the first rule all the time, even when in the holster. Shaming others for their choices is a bad look.

    • @donalddicorcia2433

I agree don’t shame others also we should not let our ego inflate ourselves and think I am well prepared when I have holes in my preparedness. Recently in conversation with an instructor. I realized I needed to change and invest in some different systems. If we have a learning mindset instead of a stagnant mindset it will serve us much more and we won’t get all bent out of shape. Could some instructors improve their delivery yes. Learning is a lifelong commitment, if someone can’t learn something new I do not want them as a friend or as a teammate.
Edit: this doesn’t mean someone has to do everything as I do. Just know if you don’t have a red dot on your rifle, and handgun, no weapon mounted light and worse no training you are putting yourself at a lower advantage. As long as we realize this along with not saying, my irons are just as good when they are not. All parties need to understand capabilities and possible equipment going down.

Didn’t see my sights in my shooting when bad guy was running at me full speed for the 3rd time when I was outnumbered 2 to 1. They planned on taking me out, similar to TX Constable Lunsford circa 1992. Drew from my duty holster, one round at about 10 feet as he was closing on me fast, center mass hit. DRT in about 15 seconds. Post showed my round blew out his aorta, lodged in his spine. Point is, you don’t always see your sights, so there are no absolutes. Otherwise, love your content brother.

Speaking of holsters I've found specific leather holsters are the best for me. Also, those with a 30° forward angle cant. You can draw the hand gun while seating in your car with canted holsters. My specific choice is the Galco F.E.T.C.H. holsters. All Galco holsters with belt loop tabs are sewn with an off set stitching. The holster is always close to your body. So no printing. The only detractor is that women have wider hips, some more than others, so I don't know if women with wider hips can use these off set stitched holsters. I have met or seen women that do use these off set stitching holsters. One of the best holsters for women is the Flash Bang line of holsters. Compact hand guns are best for the Flash Bang holsters. The Glock 19 fits perfectly. The Sig 320 Compact and similar sized guns work great in Flash Bangs.
I do recommend shoulder holsters. May not be suitable for fast draws. But everyone can wear one. Maybe not for you tactical folks. For regular civilians they're great. And yes I CCW carry with shoulder holsters. I will say the most useless holsters are Small of the Back holsters. You're better off with pocket carry.

One thing on the lights is even lowish grass and brush in your immediate foreground and will light up so much with most light's flood that its very difficult to see anything beyond that, however it lets everyone know where you are at and gives them a point target to shoot at. Just learned this distinction between a more urban scenario from field conditions.

That's a dead giveaway someone is a liar or a jackass or both is when they say they shot this or that round count with ZERO replacements. It also shows they are so inexperienced they don't even know which parts have a service life. I'm no expert but when I hear that stuff it's an immediate red flag for "fan boy/liar" or jackass. Also- to all the new guys....WE LOVE YOU. YOU ARE IN A SAFE PLACE and we want you to feel welcome. Honesty is the way to go...we all keep learning all the time. If you use that light to illuminate some random person on site - thats felony assault in many states. Carry and use a handheld light and never use a weapon light for general purpose site illumination unless you're LE and have Identified yourself. .

I find myself watching other videos and thinking What Would Uncle Freedom Do? I watched a video with Ken Hackathorn today and he said red dots aren't needed, lights on guns aren't needed, etc. now I agree that at 3-5 yards you don't need a red and its not a substitute for training and you should carry a non weapon mounted light as well but why limit your options. I mean in the end all handguns are a compromise weapon, but it is the compromise we make because luging around a rifle everywhere you go is just not practical. Not trying to bad mouth Ken, he has a wealth of knowledge I could only hope for, but in this case I agree with Uncle Freedom because I like to keep my options open as long as its not over done, and by that I mean I think we have all seen people who hung way to much crap on their guns.

Okay, not coming after you remember I do these to make people think.
You say the handgun isn't your primary?
do you always carry your rifle on you or do like most you carry your handgun daily? Which would mean that should something happen, your handgun is a primary weapon system.
I went over this in a previous Uncomfortable Truths video and a lot of folks had a V8 moment. Odds are unless things go down at a specific time and place where we are close to our rifles(we all agree rifles are better than a handgun) Your handgun would be you primary fighting platform until you got to your rifle. Also anytime you do something where being overy is more dangerous that running concealed, handgun is a primary weapon.
I brought all this up to people and I pose this question even to my fellow cops and friends. Your skills and equipment should be primary fighting capable and I just like you and everyone else will continue to pray that WHEN it happens my rifle and carrier are next to me.

My primary weapon is my rifle. That is with me way more than a handgun is.
On the rare occasion I am out in public I carry a HG appendix.
I have played around with RMR on a few of my Handguns I’m the past. But I really wasn’t digging them for few reasons.
It found it’s home on a Scalarworks sidekick mount under my LVPO on my DD M4A1 RIS 3 and that’s where she will stay.

If I were to be hands on with someone whom happens to get my pistol, that safety might give me the time to move away or shove a thumb in an eye as they pull and pull on the trigger without flipping the safety off.
That's my 2 cents whatever TF that's worth these days. Uncomfortable truth. 💥🇺🇲

For that gun though, I needed 2 mounting plates and I don’t think it cowitnesses because of the two plates. Why would Springfield not just put the RMR or MOS holes right into the slide? Is there a way to hack this problem?

Legit questions about Plate carriers I believe.
    1. I put ceramic plates in a carrier. The plates may only survive 3 or 4 hits. How many holes in the carrier itself before it's worthless?
    2. I put steel plates in a carrier and the steel can take....I don't know, dozens of hits and still retain its protection. The bullet material frags as it hits the plate though. Assuming you can avoid fragments to the face, how many hits with fragments tearing through the sides of the carrier before the carrier is worthless.
There are a truck load of videos discussing the plates themselves enough to know that if you use ceramic and the S truly hits the fan you better have back ups, when they ruin. I'm assuming you should also have some back up carriers?
Never been in combat so maybe these questions are dumb, but thinking through being hit, they are questions I have.

As a infantry veteran I honestly dont care what kinda sites someone has on their weapon. The main thing I look for is can I trust this person not to have a accidental discharge with their weapon. Are they safe with their weapon around me. As far as having better equipment than law enforcement and the military that is never going to happen because we do not have their manpower or budgets. We will not have access to crew served weapons, hand grenades , flash bang grenades etc. If civilians train in the same manner as law enforcement you are setting your self up for failure. There is only one type of training that can counter police and military training and that is guerilla warfare. This type of training is so effective that it is outlawed in several states in their penal code. California is one of these states. You can have all the fancy equipment you want body armor , flashlights, 3 thousand dollar rifle etc but when the ATF or some other alphabet agency bashes in your door and has their guns pointed at you while your laying in your comfortable bed guess what your still screwed because you were thinking like a civilian lol.

I agree with most of the statements. Perhaps the Minuteman should first of all realize that he is not a hunter on this hunt, but rather a prey. And it's critical to make yourself and your companions as hard prey as possible. And there are no trifles in this case. Reddot, flashlight, and even NVGs and Thermals are mandatory. Polymer-ceramic armor (I'm not so young to run in iron, your back and knee will notice difference) and helmet will increase the chances of not dying stupidly. Without knowledge and mastery of the basics of tactical medicine, there is no need for you to leave the house. You have a better chance of exchanging freedom and possessions for your life while remaining submissive to the invader. A successful fight requires money and sweat first of all, and then blood. Take it seriously.

I’d say it’s just as or more important for normal citizens to have lights on our guns. Not saying cops can just shoot the wrong person and get away with it but there’s been several examples of them just getting a slap on the wrist and the regular dude a lot of times is guilty until proven innocent.
Red dots on handguns are something I’m hesitant to suggest to people. I know how much work i put in with handgun with a dot on it to be just ok, it takes a lot of work to to be able to present the dot and transition targets if you’re used to irons. I have two buddies that carry pistols with red dots on them and they’ve only ever shot them to zero and I’m the one that zeroed them.

I’ve tried carrying several ways and appendix is the least comfortable (probably cause I’m a fat ass) but the most secure imo. I carried at 4oclock and everytime i would reach up my gun would show, sometimes my shirt would get stuck on the grip and I’d just be walking around with my gun hanging out/constantly adjusting my shirt to be sure its not. Then I’d be worried someone saw it that wants to try and take it and with it behind me could be done easier. Bag carry/off body carry takes too long, owb only works with baggy clothes for me and open carry is scary.

As a nondestructive tester/ quality inspector who uses a flashlight everyday for my job, there is a legit point that too many lumens can be a reflection problem to the person using the light. Is it a training issue? Well maybe maybe not. A home owner should be able to know where to point the light and where not to. But.....maybe maybe not. I know my 500 lumen pistol light lights up my backyard more rhan enough. A flashlight or light in general lets us see by casting a shadow at the object we are looking at. Yes you can have too much light if the area you are looking in is small. But lets all just get the brightest light we can because a youtube guy tells you its cool.
1000 lumens outside, awesome. 1000 lumens inside......well.....maybe not as awesome.
Once you know the science behind how lught works and how your eyes work, you find it easier to wade through the BS.

The "5 Forges" plea always confused me. Anyone that works/worked in manufacturing knows you make different grades of product to different specs based on customer demands.
(This isn't true, just a hypothetical example) BCM and Anderson could have lowers from the same forge and machines, and the BCM lower will cost 3X as much. Its because their heat treating, tolerance, and QC requirements are much more precise vs the Anderson lowers. Hell, Anderson could even get the out of spec BCM lowers if Anderson believes they are within their lower standards, which explains the price differences. (Again this is a hypothetical)
Strict and high standards in manufacturing translates to higher prices for the customer. Your cheap parts are cheap for a reason. Cheap parts are okay, but don't say they are "JuSt As GoOd".

    Lights on guns ?
I can SEE mounting a light on a longarm, but personally as for handgun employment I carry a light independant from the weapon. Just the way I was trained. Plus, I'm not pointing the weapon at someone/thing I don't want to blow up. The weapon can be employed if needed. As I was trained. I'm a former law enforcement officer just so you know. But I have been retired for a while now.

lol the “5 forges bro” guys kill me, they think receivers come out the mold finished and ready for assembly. It wouldn’t matter if there was only one forge,if all the companies aren’t machining them to the same standards then they can/will vary wildly.
The thing that sucks about psa is they absolutely can make a good rifle but it’s the amount of lemons that get out there that keeps them down. If they would up their QC game they could take over the industry. My theory is they know that a mass majority of people don’t shoot their guns and it’s cheaper for them to fix/replace the ones people actually do shoot.
