Nice too see water looking blue. I liked the tied on circle hooks. If you can find them, AH style hooks also work very well. Online Hawaii or Japanese tackle shops always have them. Combined with about 4 inches (after tying) of 27 pound wire leader tied directly to mono with an Albright knot, then use the combo haywire twist , barrel wrapped style to attach the wire to hook. 3-4 inches of wire is usually enough length to prevent most toothy fish from cutting line. 27 pound wire is thin, strong and it doesnt effect the bite much in clear water. Works with lures or live bait. The tiny Number 16 sized AH hooks are awesome for catching small or medium bait..

That setup is mostly for tarpon. DOA means dead on arrival but also in Indonesian (and probably Arab now that I think about it) means "pray" Either way not very encouraging LoL

Sweet tarpon! I go down to the Everglades every winter to catch the juveniles on my fly rod. Love those fish but I do not understand them. And yes, a very high percentage of them throw the hook.

it’s a standard all around type of set up you could get at Academy Stores or Dick’s or Fishing Tackle Unlimited or almost anywhere. 7 foot medium fast medium heavy with a baitcaster reel. I dunno what brand he had there but again it was definitely a standard type of baitcaster setup. Then later on in the video he pulled out his 10 footer heavy-fast Penn “Battler” spinning reel which is like a jetty rod set up for big bull reds but you see him pull in jacks and bull reds and kings on it in his videos.
the problem of course, lolz, is that many many commenters comment your exact comment in every single one of his videos, and he has answered it so many times even as his channel and views have grown into the many thousands. Another idea for you could be to go into his video archives and see and find all those comments where he has answered that question to many different commenters in the comments in many different videos. And he tells the brand rod and the brand of baitcaster reel too.
I’ve lost 20 tarpon in the past two years… one 6 footer and a bunch of 4 footers I need a tarpon so bad😂😭💀 a couple a days ago I was 2 feet away from landing a 4 and a half foot poon
i was curious about Texas regulations and was very surprised to find out that you can actually keep one tarpon per day in Texas! Very surprised. Lol BUT- it has to be 85 inches minimum length😂. Go figure. Might as well make it a catch and release only like Florida does. But dang. If I ever catch a 85 inch tarpon you can bet I’m gonna keep it and eat it! Hahaha thems the rules, so hate at me. Lol but the probability of me ever actually doing that is like, zero percent. So I will always catch and release a tarpon.
Hey coop, check out the brand Spooltek. They range from 4-9 inches. It's basically the same concept as the DOA when the shrimp slides up the leader line but with Spooltek, it deploys a stainless steel leader when you set the hook on a fish. September on the Port N. Jetty, they come in schools following the mullet. The fall run is a little early though this year. I caught one like that at Bob Hall Pier, on my mitchell 300 with 10 lb line when fishing for Spanish macs. Unfortunately, the light line litterally worried it to death instead of bringing it in easily for release.

Hey Coop I’d recommend to use the smaller 2.75 DOA Shrimp you will have better luck to catch them! That what I use for targeting Tarpon

It looks like he has the Waterloo salinity rod with the lews custom lite bait caster. I have the same set up and it’s the best in my opinion.
