I was delayed by TSA having to search my backpack. They claimed they saw what they thought was a silencer in my backpack. After seeing the screen I knew it was a bag of sand rolled up like a tube. I explained to the agent what it was and offered to show her which pocket it was in. She yelled at me to not in interfere with her search. She continued to go through my bag for a few more minutes… She never found the bag of sand Aka, the silencer, but returned the bag to me anyway. Talk about pure incompetence.
At Ohare, after a flight from Switzerland, because my Mother was dying, after standing in a line of 500+ people to get through customs, being late for my flight to Michigan, TSA saw fit to touch my junk 3 TIMES. The only thing good about the whole thing, was that my flight was delayed and I was just able to get on it. Thanks TSA.
I hate that! You fly from another country with similar security standards, but after you clear customs, they make you go thru TSA. Back in 09 we fly back from Amsterdam to Orlando, after clearing my customs, they made us go thru the TSA just to take the monorail to the exit. Orlando was our final destination. The TSA is a form of tyranny.
I have several metal implants (knees etc) and I remember at one American airport the agent gave me a pat-down that was uncomfortably ‘friendly’. I was tempted to ask ‘Did you enjoy that?’ but luckily I managed to keep my big mouth shut.
Before I go through security I remove watch, ring, belt, coins and place in a small cloth pouch. Shoes into shoe bags and put on surgical footwear. It's those bags which go over your feet and tie off. Pouches and shoes into carry on. The security check is easy. My carry on has garish tags so easy to ID. Enjoyed video thanks.
We travel often so we got the KTN known traveler number, that you can get at the airport and helps you to pass faster through TSA. No need to take shoes off or take electronics out.
I have tailbone issues and was having to fly cross-country at a medical supply store (not el cheapo Walmart) I purchased a 3" pillow with a U shaped hole. TSA's xray saw hollow channels in it and pulled off to check. I didn't even know those were there because you couldn't see them from the outside of the phone they were tunneled inside the foam. They were unzipping the cover and wiping some sort of little pad across it probably to make sure I didn't have explosives in there. There were three of them looking at over and saying they had never seen one quite like that and wanted to know where I bought it. Ten miles down the road at such and such store. After 5 minutes they gave it back to me and I told him I hadn't expected I was going to be some sort of a training lesson today! They smiled and chuckled. So just be aware of that if you're getting a really firm pillow from a medical supply store!
I have the same but they've never stopped me because of it. They just know it's a seat for keeping pressure off the tailbone. I don't use it for short trips but definitely for transatlantic trips. (but I also make sure I take the thinner foldable one for trips, the good one stays at home at my desk). However in my recent trip to Iceland I had too many bulky items in my carryon and the seat cushion was a no-go, so I had a packing cube in my pocket where I folded my winter jacket once I got to the airport (I was wearing it otherwise) and that served as my cushion during the flight. Worked like a charm.
In reality there are dozens of things that could "become a problem" on a commercial aircraft that could be carried on. For example, look up primasheet. Another example is the liquids we all carry on. Say four related people pooled all their allowed 3 oz. liquids and those liquids created an explosive device in, say, a big plastic bag. Then there are nonmetallic knives. In reality, TSA is more there for eye wash and making passengers feel good although they do catch a lot of simple stuff but there is only so much they can do.
Speaking of bras, I wear prosthetic breast because of a bilateral mastectomy. I have been searched over because of these. They offered to take me to a room to inspect. The lady at the security in Toronto told me not wear them and also not to put them into my carry on because she has actually seen them get pulled and and ripped apart. So for my future flights I will be putting them into my checked luggae
WOW! One long as video just to say "Call the airlines that you are taking and ask them what the rules are for carry on and storage luggage; and ask about dress codes"
I haven't been able to find a TSA travel course or a comprehensive manual on laws rules and regulations that are written in plain English. Footwear is NEVER removed in Thailand.
The last time I flew, I had issues from having my freshly washed and very curly hair left untied. One the third scan, the agent asked if I could hold my hair in my hands above my head and then sent me through.
I have a titanium hip and each airport is different. In Milan I was scolded for not having documentation of my hip replacement. I carried a paper card 18 years and nobody cared to see it, in Milan after the mile walk through the mall that is their departure terminal, I was scolded. I offered to show her both surgical scars and she made it clear that I would be arrested for indecent exposure. 😮😮 So my worn card is back in my wallet. I expect delays, and even got TSA precheck to help, but we usually get selected for random search.
I'm sorry to hear that :( I've had the same thing happen to me with my implanted device. I've only been asked for my documentation like 3 times in almost 10 years. Also sometimes I have to show the scars (luckily mine aren't considered indecent exposure haha)
I had Nice, France ask me for a doctors note for my knee! I forgot about the card but offered to show them the scar which at that time showed, I’m not sure it would be even considered a scar! I started carrying the xray and haven’t had a problem since. Now I have a shoulder replacement and they no longer give you a card. So far I’ve only had one problem which I believe was an untrained agent who wanted me to go back through the metal detector while I kept saying nothing is going to change! Her supervisor told her to use her wand -- duh! US usually does a modified pat down.
@@gottfriedheumesser1994 I travel a lot after that and never had trouble about the knee. Most understand if I just point to my knee. Now I have a metal shoulder too and still no problems but it’s worth noting I now have a wheelchair. In Nice I had a walker. I think she was new as the woman at the scanner took my carry on totally apart offered to help me repack it and carried it to where I could repack it. After 3 times through the scanner it turned out to be a glasses case, which I now don’t travel with! I’m starting to think this is like umbrellas, you only need them if you don’t carry it!
I've worn Cargo pants to the airport but , I don't stuff the pockets. I usually put the contents of my pockets, my watch and belt into my personal bag before going through the TSA line
Biggest problem with TSA is the lack of training and the fact that most, not all but most people working in TSA lack common sense and/or independent rhought process. I have been asked to remove my wedding ring most of the time, so I always take it off. I also had a belt with a plastic buckle and thr response from the highly trained individual was you have to take off ALL belts. I have been also told multiple times that you cannot carry a portable battery (talking about the 5k and 10k mah batteties that EVERYONE travels with to top off your phone or tablet). The list goes on. I am not opposed to TSA, but the curent standards are mediocre at best and don't really spark confidence.
Yeah I totally agree, it seems like sometimes they just make up their own rules. It also says directly on the TSA website that you're allowed to record videos in the security line as long as yo don't hold up the line or record the x-ray screens. And almost every time I try to do it, I get yelled at.
@@ProjectUntethered The TSA's rules also say that even if something is allowed on their "What Can I Bring?" list, the TSO has the ultimate authority to decide what is and isn't allowed on an airplane. The Fed badge really goes to their heads.
The reason they ask you take of any kind of belt is because they aren't using metal detectors. They've replaced it with newer body scanners that scan for any irregularities on the body. So essentially anything that isn't part of your body has a likely chance of alarming which is why you take your shoes and as much clothing off (without being indecent of course). Also, not sure why any TSA officer would ask you to take off your ring or any other jewelry for that matter. If anything, doing so is more of a hassle because something so small is more likely to get lost. And they shouldn't be denying you to carry batteries with you as long as they are 100 watt hours or below and are lithium ion. In those cases, ask the officer to talk to their supervisor.
@@user-dh771 I travel a lot for work, I can write a book about all the illlogical and inconsistent stuff I have seen and experienced. Some of it is straight out of a comedy. I am sure some of it is lack of training, lack of giving a sh.., an agent on a power trip, etc. At the end of the day, it is what it is, there is nothing you can do about it.
As far as shoes go - I travelled from Sydney, AU to Singapore, then Singapore to London, without having to remove my shoes. It was only later for a short internal flight from Edinburgh to Newquay that I was told to remove them, which greatly surprised me.
I got patted down or my luggage searched every single time until I got TSA pre-check. I tried everything to avoid this, sometimes my luggage would get pulled when it ONLY had clothes in it. What made me finally get pre-check is that a business woman cut me in line so she was synced with my luggage and I was synced with hers. They pulled her luggage and she hit the roof. Was yelling about how she travels basically every day and has for over a decade and has NEVER had her luggage pulled. That the same luggage they were pulling now had been through 4 other security lines already with absolutely no changes. I went and got precheck after that and haven't had a problem since then. I strongly suspect I was on some sort of list for reasons unknown to me.
I get stopped and told to remove my shoes and belt 3/5ths of the time even though I have pre-check. Once I wore the same exact outfit and the same airport, and stopped once but not the other.
My underwire bra recently set off the metal detector at MSP. I had to walk through twice and then got a pat down. It wasn’t a big deal. I’d rather the TSA is thorough. My concern is not being able to grab my stuff of the belt as soon as it comes out the x-ray machine, especially at peak times. I worry about someone snatching something, like my Apple Watch, which I consistently forget until the last possible moment.
TSA is such a joke. I have the TSA PreCheck but yet sometimes they still make me take my shoes and belt off. Recently I tested them and wore the exact same outfit on two different trips leaving the same airport and once they made me take my shoes off, the next time they did not. One time TSA made me take my shoes off at my hometown airport but returning from my destination airport I walked right through. It is all just a show to look like they are protecting us.
TSA PreCheck is a government extortion scheme that doesn't deliver on its promised benefits. And the inconsistencies are all a way to keep the terrorists guessing, and are in no way indicative of the TSA's incompetence.
Last time I flew out of Orlando Fla they had posted signs at all the gates telling us to keep our shoes ON. As soon as we got to the Search line the first thing theTSA guys said was, "Take your shoes off." One of the signs was right behind them.
I appreciate your videos. Mine was back in 2005 or 2006. I was flying home from PVD to IAD on school break (college). I was wearing Tripp pants. The kind with the metal things on them. Let’s just say I got a pat down and TSA was not amused. I’m Andrew. And I haven’t mad that mistake since.
One time I had a pair of shoes (they were special quasi-orthopedic). Unbeknownst to me at the time, there was some metal inside the sole. The shoes were like a wedge loafer concept...so the metal must have been built in there to provide structure. At any rate, it was a pain to hold up the line and not only did I have to take off the shoes, but I got a special pat-down besides. This incident happened at FRA.
i'm sorry about that. The FRA airport has since upgraded its machines and now you don't have to take anything off or out. At least not the normal (electronics, shoes, liquids) stuff.
I’ve not flown since I’ve started wearing wigs full-time due to alopecia. Most wigs have metal stays in them for a secure fit. Plus, I wear small metal pressure clips for additional in securing my wig. I’m wondering if that’s enough to set off a metal detector. I’d be curious to know what other wig-wearing travelers have experienced. TIA
My husband is a retired pilot so we follow TSA rules. I’ve had a knee replacement & never had a problem with TSA agent in the states. But coming back from Dublin Ireland…they have TSA gate there to make entry back in USA easier. Great idea, however I told the agent like I always do about my knee but nevertheless she had me walk through metal detector 3x …each time I’m setting it off…& I of course not able to use my cane. After 3 tries she finally patted me down & I was able to go through…& all the while this was going on she was the rudest person I’ve ever encountered flying in the states or international.
Sneakers are good. Before going to security I sit down & loosen the laces & tuck them inside the shoes. When I get to security I simply slip them off. Almost all airports seem to have seating after security for people to put their shoes on. I also got prompted to push my backpack into the beginning of the x-ray tunnel. So, good work by that TSA agent - less chance of some passenger trying to steal something.
Yup I totally agree, make sure you push all your stuff through before going passing through the body scanner. To add to that, I also recommend not pushing your stuff too early. Wait until it's your turn for the body scanner, then push the stuff through :)
I always seem to get inappropriately touched in--er, I mean--a "pat-down" on my stomach or groin every time I go through TSA. I hear secondhand information that this is always caused by anomalies in clothing that show up in the body scanner. I think the stomach pat-down is always to check to see if I'm wearing a belt that I forgot to take off (it could just be the body scanner alarming on the waist string in my shorts or athletic pants) and the "touching of my junk" is because either crotch sweat or some weird crease in my shorts, pants, and/or underwear is making the scanner say "This guy is literally Umar Farouk Abdulmutallub". What's sad about the whole thing is this shows me that the TSA is not there to serve me as protectors of aviation security, but I am to serve them as an obedient citizen sheeple that has to adjust how he wears his clothes or packs his belongings. #AbolishTheTSA
Maybe they just wanna touch you 🤔 Whenever I go through airport security (that doesn't have a full body scanner), I have to get a patdown because I have an implanted device and can't go through the metal detector. I know that every single time I go through the airport in Cali, Colombia, all the ladies working in security always give eachother weirdly excited looks when I tell them I can't go through the metal detector 😂
I had some little scissors in my emergency medical kit and all my stuff thrown out of my case in Paris. I had no idea that kit even had scissors in it.
I knew somebody who went to the airport wearing steel capped work boots. He had to leave them behind and arrived at his destination with only a pair of socks on his feet. I have had problems with a pair of boots that had a steel splint in the soles. I didn't even know these splints were there but it was like a fifteen minute delay at every airport while security analysed my boots
Hi! Love your videos. I have an issue going through the TSA line. I often travel solo, and I’m scared to death leaving my bin out of sight while I’m being patted down! It happens EVERY time I fly because I have two knee replacements, and plates and screws in my wrists and ankle. In your opinion, what should I do? Thanks, blessings ❤️
Yeah this sucks, I totally get where you're coming from. I also have to get patted down every time. I would recommend putting all your valuables together in some sort of secure zipper pocket that would be hard to get into. Laptops are the trickiest because they're sitting out in the open. I always try to make sure I push my laptop through the x-ray machine last so it's not sitting out in the open so long, but it's still nerve wracking. Another thing you could do is put an airtag in your laptop case in case someone snatches it. That way you'd be able to track it down in the airport.
I now do the patdowns due to health issues. The last agent to do mine about a month ago made sure to grab all my stuff and ensured I had it all with me! I was pleasantly surprised! I had about 6 bins.. I wouldn’t have been comfortable with it being out of my site during the patdown as it took several minutes.
I quit flying because of TSA groping me because I have artificial hip that sets off the magnetometer apparently half of TSA thinks I have an iron member and have to grab it. Screw yall I will drive
Yeah it's definitely more than your typical jacket from Target or Walmart. But not much different that a North Face or something you see lots of people wearing. Tou honestly get what you pay for though, I've never seen anything else like it, and everyone I've talked to who has one is obsessed with it. I like to justify it by think about the money it could save on luggage fees - after a few flights, it'd essentially cancel out the cost of the jacket 🤓
If you had an elastic belt all plastic belt, security never used mind, I got caught out last year, embarrassing holding up my pants, while asked to raise my hands over my head. Brought a roll of shock cord from, the hardware shop to go through the belt loops of my shorts and trousers. (Beverly Hills Hill Billy style.)
Mexico City airport - I forgot to empty my water bottle. They demanded I drink the entire bottle standing there, and would not allow me to pour it out anywhere.. it took 15 minutes of arguing, with people backed up waiting. I demanded they call their supervisor - they refused. I finally told them to fuck-off and keep the water bottle. It was incredibly stressful with those macho young airport security guys.
My wife and I went on a flight awhile ago. She had no problem at security. I emptied all my pockets in the tote at the airport security and walked through the archway. Of course I set the alarm off. Embarrassing! The security personnel took me aside, scanned me with the handheld wand and found that I had forgotten about some paper money in one of my pockets. I felt so dumb. I didn't know that paper money would set the alarm off. Delayed for a few extra minutes, but glad to see security doing a superb job. Got to keep them on their toes now a days!
I currently have the Tropiformer and wear it without the sleeves because I'm normally traveling in really hot places. I also have the microfleece hoody which I really like. I'm looking forward to using it in the fall as my normal go-to hoodie :)
@@ProjectUntethered I have been considering getting one for a while but since my next 6 months of travel will be in Asia I wasn't sure it would get much use since Ill be in warmer climates.
@ProjectUntethered Also, check out the new line of shoes from Skechers that have built-in shoe horns so you can easily slip them on and off hands-free.
As for the belt and shoes that is the reason I got pre check. For my watch it has a clasp band and that type is easier to take off then the stretch type. To gather all the things that you need to check in put a empty bag through first so you can put all the stuff in it as you walk towards the bag empty the bins as you go towards it
I'm overweight and that's why my top's have to be extra large clothes no matter what I wear. And wear my leggings or Jeggings due to jeans 👖 are too heavy for me and causes painful back pain.
TSA rules say that someone with a pacemaker can't go through the metal detectors even though the pacemaker clinic says it is just fine. So after having to strip down further to go through the body scanner, I have quit mentioning it. I have TSA precheck and that was really annoying. Some international airports don't have body scanners everywhere and their metal detectors are really sensitive, I had the nails in my boots set off the metal detector in Kharkiv. As far as carrying stuff, what the agent at the check in counter sees is different from what I show up in the security check line with, which is different from what the gate agents see. It's a matter of packing and unpacking stuff between the checks.
Yeah it'd be nice if the rules and procedures were more standardized. You really never know what to expect, and the only real solution is an extra dose of patience.

Wear lace up shoes and put them on tight. When you land, your feet swell. At that time, loosen your shoes and you will be comfortable. Wear them loose on the flight and they will be uncomfortable on the ground because you have no more room.
Yes, definitely comfy non-wire bra for travels. I also wear my zippy pants because sometimes they want to see my knee supports and zipping off the legs of the pants is way less cumbersome than removing the pants!
I am....not exactly small chested. But....when I'm on a plane, I want to be comfortable and don't wear one at all. Odds are I have a hoodie or jacket with me because planes are always cold, I find, so no one is going to notice (or care, let's be honest) if my boobs are bouncin' around.
They will likely still check you. They make me take my shoes off, even though I have Pre-Check and am not supposed to, because "Your shoes have nails in them in the heel." What the ...
@@TroySwezeyYes, a lot of shoes (usually more expensive and well made shoes or dress shoes) will set off the metal detectors because the the shoe manufacturer places a thin piece of metal across the shoe thats held in place with screws to attach the heel to the base of the shoe. So when it sets off the metal detector you have to take them off because while you are precheck they have to trust but verify the shoes are fine. If you want to avoid the hassle, just wear regular comfortable tennis/running shoes and you'll pass right on through.
Shoe removal is not a requirement outside of the US and in Europe we are not asked routinely to do it. Also security checks are done by staff who are genuinely helpful in getting you through the process. This is a contrast to TSA where rudeness and power trips are common linked to general paranoia regarding anyone who looks slightly different. They would not cope in airports that are major transit hubs in the Middle East where people pass through in many different styles of dress.
I like an exercise tank top that has a built in sport bra. Zero metal, comfortable for the flight, and layers well under a hoodie for the flight. If you are particularly well endowed a separate sport bra and tank is going to be necessary. I usually wear leggings too so no pockets I’ll forget to empty and no where they might suspect I’m hiding anything. Hoodie or jacket with zip pockets that can go through the scanner and crocs that can slip on and off. My whole goal is to show “I have nothing to hide, I have zero metal, please just ignore me.”
Take off shoes? Foot fungus is real & nasty. Especially unsanitary when they have rugs that are rarely cleaned. I wear peds & toss them once past the gate. Contaminated my shoes once at an airport nd that was enough.
Thankfully airports in Europe RARELY ask you to take your shoes off. Why are American airports still doing this? On the other hand, some airports here still insist in seeing your liquids. I think that's no longer done in the US...
To make sure, I would just ask the security agent that's helping people with the bins if it's necessary to remove it. If it's easy to remove, then I'd probably just do it to be safe. But if it's a pain to remove, then I'd ask to see what they say.
I get "extra" searched every single time. I have to carry two injection medications that need to be kept cool. I carry them in a 4 all Family medicine cooler - it's like an insulated metal water bottle idea, with a gel insert (Kept frozen). They pull my bag every time to open, inspect, and swab. I always go early for this. The other thing I have been extra checked is my travel pants - they are all bamboo fabric, but the waist band is a double layer of material. It only happens when I go through the xray machine check
Yeah, it definitely sounds like a good idea to get there early if you know you're always going to be searched. And I bet you make sure to pack the cooler in an easy access place so they don't have to dig through your whole bag. That is also interesting about the waist band - I wonder why that's getting flagged?
@@ProjectUntethered yes, I pull the medication out and I have it labelled as "medication", plus I tell the officer that it is there. The waistband, not really sure!
Holding up the line is NOT my problem. Firstly, as pointed out by you, the airlines and TSA rules make traveling a problem. If the all loosened up we would all have less trouble. Secondly, most of the TSA procedures are just theater. To be clear, I am not saying we must make life difficult, it's the law and we must comply. It's just makes no difference to safety but slows everything down so me slowing the line a little more makes no practical difference.
Several years ago they did a couple undercover studies and the TSA failed to discover the vast majority of weapons they tried to get through with the test. I'm hoping things have changed since then, but I kind of doubt it. :/

How about the record number of loaded guns that they find every year? Loaded weapons with increasing incidents of mental meltdowns by passengers is not exactly an ideal combo.
I disagree agree, we travel 100 days a year and I feel TSA is critical to being one of the walls against bringing in dangerous items either from malicious or just stupid people And I have done the stupid people thing myself before
I have had a hip replacement. I have found that often particularly at SFO, when going through TSA, an agent usually walks me to a different scanner. I travel alone for work a lot and this always causes stress to have to be done far away from my personal items. I thought getting TSA pre-check would help but it hasn’t. Do you have any tips for this? Also, I’m traveling to South Korea and Shanghai, China soon. Will I have the same issue there with the hip replacement?
I was on a flight with a guy wearing a tshirt with guns all over it. I asked if he didn't think it could be problematic, but he said he never had an issue
I once read a story of a girl who had a purse and the should strap chain links were in the shape of little guns, and she had it confiscated. I think it all depends on if the TSA agent wants to give you a hard time out not. You'd likely be fine with something like this, but I'd prefer to avoid provoking them haha.

You live in the 20th century??? Ever hear of the internet?
@@johnp139 wow and thats gen z for you
Well spoken cool dude. You speak very well. Good channel for information.
I also learned that wearing anything that has metal in the material like strips in the shirt or dress will get you in trouble.
Wow that is interesting! Did he think you were hiding something in there or something?
He just said my hair was messing with the imaging.
I noticed in Europe body scanners that had your hands down and out at your sides. Wish that existed in the US as I can’t lift my arms.
@@Reed-2big In Austria I did not get any paper about my metal implant when I broke my arm some ten years ago.. That seems to be unusual.
I’m starting to think this is like umbrellas, you only need them if you don’t carry it!
empty cargo pants stuff into a paper bag that goes thru scanner .. then re-fill pants with stuff ...
I've worn Cargo pants to the airport but , I don't stuff the pockets. I usually put the contents of my pockets, my watch and belt into my personal bag before going through the TSA line
I always wear cargo pants and empty the pockets into my carry on for security.
We should just have everyone wear Orange jump suits. Shackles would be a good idea too. In this way there will be no trouble.
😂😂😂
Or just be normal , like this guy is suggesting .
I'm 83 and typically wear cowboy boots. After having to take them off several times, I've reverted to wearing sneakers while traveling.
Wow that is nuts! It certainly does seem like you were being targeted - I'm glad pre-check has solved the issue for you!
I get stopped and told to remove my shoes and belt 3/5ths of the time even though I have pre-check.
Once I wore the same exact outfit and the same airport, and stopped once but not the other.
I've used the same scotte vest for over 10 years. It's well worth the money
Seattle TSA precheck made me take off my sneakers. It’s really frustrating!
TSA PreCheck is a government extortion scheme that doesn't deliver on its promised benefits.
And the inconsistencies are all a way to keep the terrorists guessing, and are in no way indicative of the TSA's incompetence.
Wow, that's an interesting thought - I hadn't thought about that before!
Yeah in the end it's just a complete crapshoot. My biggest tip is to just arrive at the airport early with an extra dose of patience.
If you travel a lot especially in USA, get PreCheck, then shoes do not need to be taken off!
You might not want to wear camouflage.
Grr that's so annoying. Do you wear the same clothes on all your flights? Or does it happen no matter what clothes you wear?
@@ProjectUntethered It's either shorts or athletic pants.

Crocs.
A wireless bra is not an option for some of us. It is not an inconvenience if it sets off the detector- you just get a scanner Aled over you.
@@ProjectUntethered good ideas, thanks so much!
Having work security in Seattle, pre TSA, during the first Gulf War era, we had our metal scanner so hi one time, that my metal hair clip set it off

The vest is pretty cool. But very very very expensive.
Is the vest you have on in the video still available because I don't see it on the website ?
Don’t wear a baseball cap backwards - especially with adjustable size technology - it annoys many people and possibly TSA
None of my jewelry was ever a problem, in fact the huge screws in my hip never caused a problem either
also platform shoes, even small ones but with thick base are not allowed and asked to be in the tsa bin
Well done!
Look at the people they hire ,looks like a scene out of DELIVERANCE.

I'm sorry to hear that :( have you ever had trouble passing through airport security?
Even with precheck you shouldn’t wear cowboy boots. There is a metal rod in there and you’ll have to take off your boots. It sucks
When traveling I love using sports bra wich have good support and never had problems with metal detectors. 👌🏻
Thanks for sharing your expert female advice!

They make me take my shoes off, even though I have Pre-Check and am not supposed to, because "Your shoes have nails in them in the heel."
What the ...
@TroySwezey Wow. You pay for precheck and they make you take your shoes off. I wish they'd give half your money back.
What other countries require you to remove your shoes? The only one I have experience with is the US.
Just use the pockets in your regular raincoat rather than an extra vest that serves just this purpose.
I’d like the TSA to discourage saggy pants everywhere!
I MUSTwear underwire bras--they’re quite expensive and the only thing I wear or buy!
Ever hear of the shoe bomber??? Religious zealots cause stuff like this!
If you stuff the pockets with clothing, you shouldn't need to remove things, right?

I like an exercise tank top that has a built in sport bra. Zero metal, comfortable for the flight, and layers well under a hoodie for the flight. If you are particularly well endowed a separate sport bra and tank is going to be necessary. I usually wear leggings too so no pockets I’ll forget to empty and no where they might suspect I’m hiding anything. Hoodie or jacket with zip pockets that can go through the scanner and crocs that can slip on and off. My whole goal is to show “I have nothing to hide, I have zero metal, please just ignore me.”
I wish to go take flight some day in Jesus name ,I wish to experience this ,the beauty in the air ,food ,and everything ❤❤❤
Uh, if you fly AT ALL frequently, buy TSA Precheck. That avoids 80% of all this. DUH.
No rinestones or sequins on shirts, caused extra security screening for me.
Take off shoes? Foot fungus is real & nasty. Especially unsanitary when they have rugs that are rarely cleaned. I wear peds & toss them once past the gate. Contaminated my shoes once at an airport nd that was enough.

Ha! No ‘secret spy’ wants to look like one.
Thankfully airports in Europe RARELY ask you to take your shoes off. Why are American airports still doing this? On the other hand, some airports here still insist in seeing your liquids. I think that's no longer done in the US...
The reason I mostly fly private.
I remember that US Airways story. I also remember that same US Airways allowing a man to board wearing only bra and panties.
Haha it sounds like consistency doesn't exist on that airline

I wear a leg brace that is fitted into my shoe. Do i have to remove it if i don't have TSA PreCheck
To make sure, I would just ask the security agent that's helping people with the bins if it's necessary to remove it. If it's easy to remove, then I'd probably just do it to be safe. But if it's a pain to remove, then I'd ask to see what they say.
You DO NOT have to remove any medical devices
Very smart! Sounds like you have your process all figured out, although it's annoying that you have to go through that every time.
Let them know ahead of time.
I think carrying a large sports bag vs a tiny back pack will result in getting a hand search more often.
the shoe removal is ridiculous IMO
It's a psyop. Compliance and herd training. Tagged, scanned and herded down the ramp.

TSA's only purpose to exist is to ruin your trip from the start, period. Other than that, TSA has NO any other purposes.
Ever since 9/11, air travel has become a Public-Private Partnership of a dystopia. If it isn't the airline corporations out to screw you, it's the government.
How about the record number of loaded guns that they find every year? Loaded weapons with increasing incidents of mental meltdowns by passengers is not exactly an ideal combo.

SFO is private security
I was on a flight with a guy wearing a tshirt with guns all over it. I asked if he didn't think it could be problematic, but he said he never had an issue
I once read a story of a girl who had a purse and the should strap chain links were in the shape of little guns, and she had it confiscated. I think it all depends on if the TSA agent wants to give you a hard time out not. You'd likely be fine with something like this, but I'd prefer to avoid provoking them haha.
