God the level of attention to detail really does tell how much the developers cared. This game is a work of art, and I am absolutely glad it was game of the year
Dread just keeps on giving. Good catch on the Kraid stuff and beams. I love Samus’ animations. I was screwing around with them this morning and noticed that after doing a slide counter (the kick) into a run she leans harder in the direction she’s running before sorta stabilizing into a normal run. Very neat stuff
Indeed, that's where my respect is placed in. SSB series, on other hands... just lost their shit just because they put *CHILDREN* in danger, celebrities or not.
I’ve barely touched any of the previous Metroid games, but I’ve played Dread a ton since I got it a couple of weeks ago. The statue detail is absolutely incredible!
a detail I found is that when you do a shinespark you first float in place to set direction. You float because you could not stand on presure plates and activate things like lava streams, elevators, etc.
5:43 the big, red-eyed robot enemies will also shoot their laser through doors if you happen to leave the room right as they're about to fire. And I'd imagine their ground-based fire trail would as well, though I don't have first-hand experience with the latter.
The boots! They,re dynamic! And the armoured portion slides up and down depending on the foot and leg position/angle! Such a minor detail, but also _huge_ ! In many games, armours don't feel organic and natural, they'll often just ''move'' and ''distort'' based on the body's position, which really is NOT how actual armour pieces would behave I love seeing that with Samus' armour! For example, in Assassin's Creed Odyssey, the protagonist's armour pieces would distort and move as if it was... Soft plastic, or even fabric, when clearly they're supposed to be SOLID, HARD, and INFLEXIBLE pieces...
Samus's model is so well built in Dread, those huge shoulder pads/orbs are also modeled separately from her actual shoulders which allows not only for more natural movements but also helps prevent distortion on them!
If you make a part 5, I got one for you. If you go back to Kraid's room after his fight with the Gravity Suit and go into the lava, you can see his skeleton.
These videos only increase my infinite respect and love towards this game and the absolute wizards over at mercury steam who crafted such a masterpiece!
Here's a neat detail I found out while playing the demo that you could use in your next video. Whenever you break the orb from a chozo statue, you can see the shards on the ground, then when you pick up the item they disappear
Another detail some people might have missed is before the Corpius battle, you can see him crawl away into the background in one of the rooms before his boss room
Very cool video. Could you show the mural in Ferenia(I think it was Ferenia) that shows the Mawkin interacting with Space Pirates that I keep hearing about in the next one?
I misread that there is the statue of a FRIGHTENED creature at the entrance of Kraid's lair. I thought it was quite a bold interpretation of static alien monster expressions. XD
This game was incredible... I now want another new 2D Metroid from Mercury Steam that takes this formula even further... Metroid 6 basically and immediately...
I only just realized this, but the red border at the bottom of your video thumbnails for this series, make it impossible to tell whether I’ve already seen the video or not.
Metroid Dread is an insane well crafted game. This little details is show the pasión of Nintendo and Merrcury Steam put on the game. I hope this entry sells very well and the number surpass previus entry's so that way, Nintendo make Metroid more relevante and not have to wait 19 years for a new 2D game. I really want to see a new Metroid 6 with a new concepto that expands more the gameplay and adds more History maybe similar to Hollow Knights.
Mercury Steam better have a sequel or dlc planned with all the work they did. I don't want a new style, just another game with the same style. The graphics can be improved marginally but they're near perfect for the kind of game this is.
Tbh they could also do what they always wanted to do. A Fusion Remake. They more than deserved it. Originally that was their wish but they where shot down by Ninty and given Samus Returns to work on
I haven't played this game on a Switch but it seems to me that the graphics need a lof of polish. Mercury Steam is not bad at 3d art. They are the ones who made Castlevania:Lord of Shadows, a game with very good graphics for it's time. Maybe it's because of the technical limitations of the Switch console. No one would bat an eye if they had done it with a 2d engine and pixel art graphics. In a time where 2d metroidvania games are the king, it wouln't be a bad idea
This game is absolutely incredible but these details make the game even more special
These guys really brought back the meaning of Nintendo polish.
Whatever they're working on next is gonna be an instant buy from me.
God the level of attention to detail really does tell how much the developers cared. This game is a work of art, and I am absolutely glad it was game of the year
*Action/Adventure GotY
Actual GotT was It Takes Two
Nintendo: So Mercury Steam, how much details you gonna out in Metroid Dread?
MercurySteam: Si.
Dread just keeps on giving. Good catch on the Kraid stuff and beams.

Another little detail/easter egg:
The areas in Dread are in alphabet orders
Artaria
Burenia
Cataris
Dairon
Elun
Ferenia
Ghavoran
Hanubia
Itorash
and in order of height! artaria is the lowest and itorash is in the sky
1:08 Samus is always aware of her surroundings
I wonder if Samus won't enter in idle animation if is in "danger HP moment" (beeping alert) or if it would care about small enemies in that state
If I press shoot would she shoot up when her idle animation is interrupted
5:46 Hey, it's like the persistent enemies in the original. Like Zoomers/Geemers that enter item rooms with you!
PTSD
You can see they really made the game with love, there are so many details ^^
Indeed, that's where my respect is placed in.
SSB series, on other hands... just lost their shit just because they put *CHILDREN* in danger, celebrities or not.
7:30 oh a callback to Metroid Prime( each beam have different effect when charging).

Is there a video for it?
Wait.. *What* ?
@@Sr.5902 yup. IIRC it's there until the X are freed from Elun.
@@LyfSukz well, that's a double fact then. I wonder how many other things changed after the X got released...
@@renookami4651 Kraid's belly-spike in the wall in that room disappears when the X get released.
Dude absolutely love this series. Thank you for making it!
I got just one word for this game:
Masterpiece
Nice job finding those details, love these videos!
These videos only increase my infinite respect and love towards this game and the absolute wizards over at mercury steam who crafted such a masterpiece!
Yoo, another Dread vid? Let's go!!❤❤
i love that the tip of the arm cannon glows with heat when fired rapidly and cools after
0:51, greatest soundtrack ever!!!
Congrats on 125k subs!!!
6:21 I can't take my eyes of Samus either if she ever walks past me... 👀
Here's a neat detail I found out while playing the demo that you could use in your next video. Whenever you break the orb from a chozo statue, you can see the shards on the ground, then when you pick up the item they disappear
Great videos, this game is a masterpiece! Nintendo should really buy Mercury Steam before they lose them like they lost Rare.
Nintendo didn't "lost" RARE, they sold them.
They sold their 49% stake because Rare needed someone to buy the other 51% and Nintendo wouldn't do it. So you're both right.
It’s like we’re hearing the sounds from Samus’s point of view
LOL I love that the little small ones just quickly swim away after hitting her in the back. They do a little trolling.
Another detail some people might have missed is before the Corpius battle, you can see him crawl away into the background in one of the rooms before his boss room
I remember seeing that and immediately thinking 'Yup, there's the boss right there... did it just kill a gazelle?'
The last room with the megabomb (the orange tube) is a reference to the motherbrain fights from nes/snes.
Are you talking about the Zebetites?
@@countlazuli8753 yes! Didnt they break and drop missles/health in prior games as well? I need to read up on motherbrain lure after seeing this game.
@@hacked2123 I don't remember much, other than they were vulnerable to missiles and I think they could regenerate.
Yesterday i learned that thing about the acidic balls, i was surprised to get hit by one from nowhere and then i did the process again and realized.
Very cool video. Could you show the mural in Ferenia(I think it was Ferenia) that shows the Mawkin interacting with Space Pirates that I keep hearing about in the next one?
If you're referring to the one the purple bastard obliterates, I think those were other Chozo. Not the pirates.
lmao the Fings & Dizzeans one was great :D
5:42 this works with flying spikes from the burenia creatures
"Perhaps she's a little too confident..." (Get's bumped.)
The amount detail in this game they really wanted to make sure the got metroid right the only thing missing is ridly some how not dyeing again
1:55 now imagine that moment in Dread mode lol
This game is made with love, for sure !!!!!!!! Impressive !!!
Man, I thought I knew this game inside and out but quite a few of these details are new to me.
I love these videos. Keep them coming
3:01 when i saw it the first time i thought it had to do with the story and i will find more of these but that is way cooler
I also noticed in the background before my friend fight the first boss.
poor deer :(
I never noticed the sparks on the wave beam effect. I thought it looked like a big bang attack.
I misread that there is the statue of a FRIGHTENED creature at the entrance of Kraid's lair. I thought it was quite a bold interpretation of static alien monster expressions. XD
One of my favourite little details is if you stand on a pressure plate with one at that right angle you'll only see that foot move down
Already covered in the previous video.
I remember seeing the zone 1 boss and being like OOOOOH! OOOH! I SAW THAT!
These little details are the best
Sooo much details and many, many people don't give a fuck, because it's "just a 2D-game".
Or they're too busy skipping right from their first playthrought to even notice. xD
Let them miss out
I never noticed this game has realistic lighting and shadows.
I feel like Dread took an idea out of AM2R's book with destroying a power core like object with a power bomb
6:11 Why do I so often see Dairon misspelled?
6:11 those eyes look liek the gooey blob things eyes
Nice details man
How this game didn't get nominated for best sound design is beyond me
Music maybe. Music was lackluster
@@Rundas045 nah it doesn't deserve best score imo. It's serviceable for the mood of the game but it's not ear-wormy like Super is.
@@Reyn_the_Insane yeah thats my point.
F for the Flesh Deer (#1)
Hey what about the draygon looking creature that you can see in the background of one of the powered down labs?
the words in tele portail are maybe names of destinations like artaria or cataris? idk
7:20 personal time stamp.
These videos are gold, the only issue to fix is the background music sometimes is too noisy .
Love this series!
this is such a nice video omg
This game was incredible... I now want another new 2D Metroid from Mercury

I wish they added Ridley to Metroid dread he’s been in almost every game or every

Soy fan de Metroid desde hace años y este juego me pareció un gran final de la saga principal, ojala le den el mismo amor a los siguientes juegos.
Cannot believe this game is only 6G
Nice video!!
Love this
Has anyone tried to power bomb in the dark room that holds the mystery creature before it disappear?
Wow he's so famous in this universe that they named an entire area after Elun Mosk 😮
Hold up is that the plant a hole from prime that I can never get past?:(
How do you know what everything is called?
Looks better in 4K with FSR on Yuzu.

I would happily buy any other metroid game remade with this engine and style
