Great job Troy. I toast you in penny cheer! Ya know, I don't listen to too much Tull in the summer. But as soon as there's a hint of autumn, time to break out some J.T. Just seems to be a better fit. You mentioned bad dreams & it made me wonder, have you ever checked out "No Lullaby" on Heavy Horses? It starts with the cool bass 'heart-beat' but gets a bit crazier after that.
Great stuff yet again. There are loads of great and complex sounding Tull basslines - I wonder if ian Anderson pens these or lets his bassmen (and there's been quite a few over the years) compose them. Minstrel In The Gallery is a great favourite of mine (hint hint!)
@eckie4679 Thanks. Tull has had some great bass players but they said (on Wikipedia) that another bass player had written and rehearsed with the band for this album right up until the recording.
@WelshPhantom Thank you. I'm actually a "sporadic" Tull fan and favor certain songs over others rather than whole albums. This is the only album I do own and would have to say that it's my favorite. On a similar topic to the one you brought up (as I mentioned to Duilkin below), the year this came out in '77, Kansas also released Point Of No Return and RUSH - A Farewell To Kings. Those days are over for sure. YES also came out with Going For The One but I wasn't crazy about that one.
@Lordoftheflies234 This is the only album I own so I'd follow WelshPhantom's advice. Another huge Tull fan friend of mine, Helen, loves the live album Bursting Out, as it is a great across the board representation of their catalog at that time.
@duilkin The part at 1:30 was the one that gave me greatest concern, but it wasn't too bad to figure out at all. And you're right, the other part does sound like Kansas. Think about this, the year this was released, 1977, was also the same year that Kansas released Point Of No Return and RUSH released A Farewell To Kings. What a great time for music huh? Thanks.
Fabulous. you have no idea of just how much i feel the urge to don horse riding clothing and perhaps a red bowler hat, and thump along to this. maybe even in the barn.
You first got me hooked on your channel and on your efforts as a musician by your love of Rush. Now, you are adding Jethro Tull. How did you know that JT is also one of my most-favorite bands? You are hitting home-runs, here, Sir. Great job, as usual. Thank you for sharing your passion.
Great. I tried to play along but my "air" bass was out of tune...Will you be doing any videos on tuning the "air" bass. Anyway I watched your cover of The Weapon and I can't stop listening to it.
Is it possible to ask for a tab for the song? I know some of it but not all, recently got into Tull, this is one of my favourite songs and I can't see many good tabs for the song, unless I'm just too tired and am not being bothered enough to read them properly
I've never heard of Tull before Isuscribed to your channel. I feel like digging this stuff but I don't know where to begin! Which album do you recommend?
I have an "Original" playlist on my channel where I play along with myself on a few songs. I also posted a few other songs on Soundcloud under TJH3113.
Fantastic. You've got such a great touch on the bass. Love this line. A shame John Glascock passed so young, he was a fine talent.
Favorite Tull Bass line. Well executed. Can only imagine how much work it was to work out the timing on the "middle section".
gosh the time signature for thsi song is driving me nuts ;oo
BRICKED UP RN BROTHER
Jeez... thanks?
Fantastic playing once again. Don't ever stop doing these videos. Cheers again from the UK.
Awesome job. It's nice to hear some Tull done well.
You are one of the few who understand. Great job and great choice!
+Billy Bagafucknuts Thanks.
A favorite Tull song - great job!
Thanks a lot.

Another nice one Troy. I can practically smell the woodsmoke :-) All the best, Tom
God to be able to come up with those lines. So tasty a genius . John!
Right?
Great job! Congratulations!
My RESPECT.
THANKS.

@TOMIT2112
My air roadie tunes up my air bass so I wouldn't even know how to go about it. Thanks, I'm glad you like the Weapon.
THE IMPRESSION THAT I GET BASS COVER!!!! GO!!!!!!!!
@BumDog2112
Thanks. The shirts went out to the Hard Rock Cafes in NY, Orlando, and Vegas.
@eckie4679

ooohh man!! another rare song... cost me a little understanding 1:30 i like this passage, and 2:02 reminds me of Kansas great job!!!
Great job.... you were able to land Rush´s Hold Your Fire Bass lines... you can land just about anything. I swear.
@NW7US
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it.
@TJH3113 wow!!! is true!! two great albums
I wish I could see that commercial, unfortunately no one on the internet seems to have preserved it
I did a search myself and didn't come up with anything. Shame.
@FluffyWagglekins
Thank you David.
sorry not sorry about the deep dive - so awesome!
No problem. It’s nice to see some of the older videos get a little attention.
@ednaplate
Thank you very much.
And another killer job!!! So have you retired the black shirts? hahaha!
@Javic2112
Thanks Pat.
@JethroRush
Thanks. I'll give it a listen.
@YofterMofter
Thank you. I thought the Stingray suited the song best.
Thanks.
@jkmmcxii
No, this is actually my oldest bass, I just don't play it all that often. Thanks.
wow
@JimmyJames714
I'll have to check that one out Jimmy.
Awesome!!! Do you think you could do Teacher by Jethro Tull?
@JesusLittle
Thanks Tom. That's not all I can smell. Those guys look like they could use a good bath.
Great. I tried to play along but my "air" bass was out of tune...Will you be doing any videos on tuning the "air" bass. Anyway I watched your cover of The Weapon and I can't stop listening to it.
@eckie4679 I think this bassline was down to Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond - that guy was just sheer class!
This is John Glascock..Jeffrey left the band after Minstrel in the Gallery (1975)
@WelshPhantom
Please, you could answer this question much better than I could. Thank you.
@21Rushisaband12
Thanks.

@VonSeux
Yeah, it's a tough one.
