Hello Sir, thank you so much for your videos regarding nomination interview important information and general knowledge for the service academies. You have assisted me with nomination interviews and have helped me to receive 2 nominations (West Point & Air Force). Thank you!
Are you a Blue & Gold officer? You referenced "cover". I'd say cut the academy class sizes in half and a lot those commissioning slots to NROTC, ROTC. I was a scholarship NROTC grad back in the day. I got a regular commission just like the boat schoolers. I applied to the boat school my freshman year. I got in and also received a retroactive 4 year NROTC scholarship. I asked two of my instructors who had gone to Annapolis their thoughts. It was March in the west, I was in t-shirt, shorts, and sandals. We walked along the main quad, palm trees, sun, and warmth. They said you don't have this kind of freedom at the academy. You get a regular commission in NROTC and you learn real life skills, balancing NROTC commitments with civilian ones. They thought it made for a better div o because we could understand what our sailors would be facing. Is there a place for academy grads in the service? Yes, but there are too many of them and they need to get trimmed down. The current CNO broke a Navy glass ceiling, being the first NROTC grad to hold that job. That tells me the academy "mafia" is too strong and needs some pruning. Good vid on the advise btw shipmate BZ
Some might wear a uniform to try to boost the weak credentials. A good interviewer will see through this and will hold it against you. If your resume is strong the uniform won't appear to be something you are not. Have someone with military rank/experience evaluate this for you before you go to the interview.
