Nice work. 1211 on all mating surfaces ensures a good seal. Nice tip, wet sanding the mating surfaces. You should be nice and air tight for your compression and leak down tests. Happy Motoring! 😊
@@KensGarage1 Staged? As in faked, or set up for video production in the Ken's Garage TV studio? Sorry, the set up was too good to pass up, having a little fun with a play on words. 😂 By the time you finish your project, you are going to have a nice catalog of how to videos for the RZ. Great content for your fellow RZ garage enthusiasts. 😊
Hey Ken!!! Thanks again for all the vids!!! I'm doing my RZ now... it has stock porting and I just cleaned up and matched the cases like you did... thanks for that!! Mine has stock carbs, Y boot with KNN and DG pipes. Still has stock reeds... what do you think? Should I just change the petals or keep it stock? SO much info out there do not know what to believe. Thanks in advance!
Cool that you did the case matching. I have a friend that runs stock banshee fiber reeds and loves them. I have never used them but may in the future. Apparently they don't cost too much. The stock reeds will work fine. I've heard horror stories of the stock metal reeds breaking and getting sucked in to the engine. Never seen it first hand so it quite possibly may be internet lore.
Thanks Ricardo. No particular reason other than I think they are TDR reeds. Scott has these and has posted on one of my videos his specs and baseline jetting (about the same elevation also) so this will give me a starting point on this bike.
Hi Ken , what manual are you using in this video please , I have never been able to find genuine Yamaha workshop manual in the UK for mk1 350 power valve
How did you like boyesen reeds. Just doing a simple stock rebuild on my 89 rz350 with stock airbox and micron pipes. Bike has 29000km with stock metal reeds and thinking it time to replace maybe.
The boyeson reeds worked okay for me. They get a bad rap all over the place. But if you want to spend the big dollars get the VForce4 which I put on my thrasher bike. If you don't, I know people who have been very satisfied with OEM Yamaha banshee reeds. That would be my choice for lower $$ replacement reeds.
I always use two gaskets and a bit of Permatex anaerobic gasket maker Ken. Excellent video.

Thanks Scott. Leak test video is staged.

Why hace you chosen those reeds instead of the others?
Very useful vídeo...

Can you still get hold of those Yamaha reed block gaskets? In the UK they're a discontinued part.

@@KensGarage1 Ok thanks. So the oem banshee reeds are not metal.
That is what I am going to go with
@@chrispederson4157 Cool. Come back and let us know how they work. Yamaha Banshee reed valve part number 2GU-13613-00-00
@@KensGarage1 So those reeds will work with stock reed cage?
