Weller has said that he was completely in awe of Macca at that gig, He's not miserable, just trying to remain cool whilst bursting with excitement inside. He'd announced Macca onto the stage earlier and took great pride in it.
For everyone asking about why Roger was there despite not singing, he's been one of the patrons of the charity for years. He's the reason they're all there performing in the first place.
Roger is, indeed, a gem. I am 99.9% sure he is singing whole-heartedly on the choruses. Paul really acknowledges and sings with/to him - a beautiful moment of recognition, Paul making sure everybody gets their moment. There is so much to be analyzed in this video.
100% agreed. It's McCartney's song, of course, but it's a huge deal that Daltrey's up there singing it with him. Mutual admiration. Would've loved to see more of Daltrey's theatrics and "into it-ness".
It's amazing how many people seem to think that they can read Mr Weller's mind! To me he seems very dignified and behaved impeccably as a guest artist on someone else's song.
Fascinated by Paul's constant determination on his mic since the early 60s, I smile when I see Roger's natural moves .. The guys age and remain the same..!
Weller, so unassumed, steps back, out of the limelight, to showcase McCartney, Daltrey & Wood. I like that about Weller. He was there supporting London's Teenage Cancer Trust Concert. So humble and yet so talented.
when ronnie wood came out on stage i just didn't know what to do... i was half way between laughing and crying. genuinely the best concert i've ever been to and probably ever will
The Man will be 70 years old this June. Unbelievable! I wonder how he deals with the fact that he is the most famous musician on the planet. I'm just thankfull that I have known him (and the Beatles) since I have been 7 years old. Turning 56 soon.
Oh god, the man just rocks. He's better at the age of 69 than young people in their 20's. His talent surpasses everything, even at this age. Thank you for uploading this. I wish I had been there, unfortunately I don't live in England.
It's fun fact - cos they're all been widely praised as living legends, And Weller which many of Diehard Beatle/Who -freaks probably would count as class B artist compared to the others here, is actually only one of the group who still has a Career which dont ride of his old band's(The Jam) fame. Yet not blaming anyone . Great musicians here ;)
Bullshit ... Weller still plays Jam songs in concert, and has to endure endless requests to do so throughout the night ... thus proving that people go to see him in the largely vain hope of hearing some of those classics.
Weller plays LOADS of The Jam and The Style Council songs live, he always did. He just refuses to re-unite either band. And he wasn't too fussy about banging out the Jam hits just before his solo career took off, when he was playing to 200 people in a pub. At 39:50 in this documentary check him playing A Town Called Malice in 1991 in some provincial music pub. th-cam.com/video/zPFRV71GzrU/w-d-xo.html&lc=UgwvNInhsYfGHTWitHN4AaABAg.9B7d3ro-PKm9DqRWelMfpj
Thank you, Audrey! I was there too, but not as close as you were. Your video allows me to see more of Paul's facial expressions, which are priceless! Hoping you have more to upload. I'll be looking! Wasn't it a great night? xo
It's a shame that most people who view this video have no idea who Paul Weller is. He's an outstanding lyricist/musician. Great solo stuff, amazing live shows, and a Mod for life. The Jam were the soundtrack to my youth. A true British icon-there is no doubt...
Why do you assume they don't know who he is? And if they don't, he only has himself to blame for choosing not to pursue success in North America when he had the chance. Could've been as well known as the Clash. Certainly had better tunes.
Weller has said that he was completely in awe of Macca at that gig, He's not miserable, just trying to remain cool whilst bursting with excitement inside. He'd announced Macca onto the stage earlier and took great pride in it.
Thanks for the info. That answers a lot. Paul looked so focused.
SweeeEEeeet!. The Legend Paul Weller! In Awe!... :)
For everyone asking about why Roger was there despite not singing, he's been one of the patrons of the charity for years. He's the reason they're all there performing in the first place.
So true, Roger is a gem❤

Roger Daltrey is ONE of the greatest entertainers around.
Would have loved it if the cameras had panned OVER to him!
100% agreed. It's McCartney's song, of course, but it's a huge deal that Daltrey's up there singing it with him. Mutual admiration. Would've loved to see more of Daltrey's theatrics and "into it-ness".
RODGER should have been standing next to PAUL
The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Who and The Jam! :)
Grazie mille per il video bellissimo

Needed more Daltrey!!!

McCartney, McDaltrey & McWood. I like that about McWeller too. So humble and yet so Mctalented. At least it wasn't for McDonald's...
Well said.
Indeed, but also completely out of their league...
nothing but dignity (and doesn't dye his hair either, which gets points from me)
Waller is a nonentity compared with the others, that's why he took a step back. A humble man with much to be humble about.
when ronnie wood came out on stage i just didn't know what to do... i was half way between laughing and crying. genuinely the best concert i've ever been to and probably ever will
Damn, would've liked to hear Roger!

Weller: "Okay, what's the next chord? Got it, let's rock n' roll."
Yes. It did occur to me once that it would make for an interesting concert. The Whootles! Doooooooo!
It would be great if Paul play a song of The Who, The Stones and The Jam with them on stage
No it wouldn't
Weller looks so cool.
Those old guys really just destroys anything else! Shows these little whimps which are called stars today how you do it the proper way!
Un gran video :-)
Hi Audrey :) You have the best videos!
Nice to Paul McCartney :D
great video. I was there too and loved every minute! Don't know why Paul Weller looks so glum!
WELL DONE AUDREY!
PAUL MC CARTNEY UN GRANDE JUNTO A ROBIN WOOD DE LOS ROLLING STONES QUE FANTASTICOS
Very nice ....! WE
sem palavras!!
Wouldn’t mind being ten quid behind any of these guys!
A great song is a great song is a..... Very heavy song too!
ah, I am a big Beatles fan, but I do like the Who,. Saw them at Isle of wight a few years back. They've still got it.
England's finest 👌
Well I'm glad Roger Daltrey was there to do absolutely nothing! What the heck I wanted to hear him haha
realy nice:-)
Pity that Roger, the greatest rock singer ever in my opinion is only a bystander
I was wondering the same thing! ;-)
Hi Guys,Good performance.Peace.GARYV.
have i missed something or was Roger's role was restricted to a bit of dad dancing?
@Gary Twitchett lol and that bloke Cressa who used to dance onstage at Stone Roses gigs. Shame tho they could have given Rog a bit more mic
Lol...I wasn’t there but I’m pretty sure this wasn’t the only song played at this gig.
@@markhoover3743 It was the only one Roger Daltrey joined the band for. He needn't have bothered.
Gavin Paisley wow...I got to say I am surprised. I’ll side with you then. Not cool
@@markhoover3743 absolutely not cool. Rog would have smashed it if he'd been given the lead vocal, it's a perfect song for him.
Wow my beatle fan paul he is sweet for me
Daltrey & McCartney
Nice combination, Sir Weller on guitar Class , Roger should be on vocals in a `joint combination at least xx
Yes he should! Would have been much better. He needed a guitar, too.
Gallant!
Weller still looking good
LEGENDS !!
HAPPY NEW YEAR ❕❗
we do´nt see wherever is roger daltrey
Weller is dampening the euphoria
Love Paul Weller and his music but he looks like he is at a funeral. Cheer up mate these are legends you can relax and at least look happy.
The ultimate Supergroup.....
when I hear the guitar solo I always think of George
Ca c'est de la bonne musique!!!!!!! ;-)
you're right. i'm so mad. but now you of my band. bwahaha
A pearl...
This is ALL wrong .. Daltry should had started the song and split verses with Paul. As it is Roger looks like he game by to take a piss and left.
lol
Yeah - gatekeeping rock and roll royalty is a good look for you dude.
Daltrey is miles and miles ahead of Paul vocally
Robbie Gee I dont think that Roger Daltrey smokes, so that will help
