Such a gift to see these gentlemen together again...their live appearances will come to an end one day but their music will live forever, for generations to come.
When did they get together? I remember an interview where Mr. McCartney says " we're a band " referencing that he realized they had been playing and staying together.
I might be old.....but I got to see all of the legendary rockers live back in the day.....when a ticket to a gig cost $8 or $9! Great to see them still doing what they love to do, live on stage in 2024.
Ron Wood is an example of how far charisma and charm can get you in life. Is he the greatest rock guitarist? No, but musical artists and audiences love him!
Yo creo que es un gran guitarrista de echo , y tiene discos solistas muuy buenos . Antes era el guitarra de Jeff beck y 50 años con los Stone , osea , es un gran guitarrista y artista
What would it feel like to "Get Back" and enjoy your work and contribution to the world 50 years later?!! This was awesome and it made me think of all the amazing people who have contributed their talent all over the world to our human existence today that we are not really connected with and all of them are "ROCK STARS" that we cannot easily celebrate. Thank you Paul, Ronnie and call out to Herman Lu for bringing this video that inspired me to think about acknowledging the contributions of others in our past that made our today possible. Cheers!
@@Havanacuba1985Huh! 🤔. I’m not sure what u mean but you’ve just named the Remaining Stones band who are just off a world tour & new album. Ringo & Paul were obviously never with the Stones so I get what u mean but they’ve never all played together as a band and the stones are still around & Paul’s just finished his world tour so why would you think suddenly they’d all play in the one band together but I understand your point. It would be an amazing fantasy band but I mean whose songs would they play. A mix from all the Stones and Beatles and wings songs and Ringo’s solo material! Maybe best left at that. Sooooo thrilled to see Paul and his original 1961 Hofner reunited!!!!!!!!! I have several reissue '61 models and they have such a unique "thump" to them like no other!!!! GREAT show!!!!!!!!😀👍✌🕉
@@HankFinkle11 Love the Rickenbacker sound too, as I own two, a 4001V63 and a 4001C64!!!! Chris Squire of YES was my biggest influence with the Rickenbacker choice!!! I actually got a chance to speak with Laurence Juber who was lead guitarist with the last incarnation of Wings and he said he preferred the Yamaha Bass that Macca was using during 1978 through the early 80's as what he calls his best Bass sound.
Yeah, the pickup in the middle position instead of near the bridge gives it a much deeper bassier punch. I like it. I can imagine Paul missed this instrument, for both its sound and history.
It's honestly soul crushing that the crowd isn't going nuts because he got the bass back, and they got to be there for the first gig he played it in 50 years.
@@shaneog6298 Yea, i saw him in Paris and he played Michelle, did he play this at others shows ? Anyway even if i didn't see ringo, the 1st hofner and ron wood, i'm still glad to being able to see him live
damn yea was wondering if he had his new one when I saw him in Manchester on Sunday, he probably was getting it revitalized by his guitar techs if I'd have to imagine after it being passed around randomly for 50 years but who knows. There's an article that explains the story about it for anyone curious.
Pretty wild that, despite being known for playing the Horner bass, Paul has only ever owned two of them. The 61 became the backup once he got the 63, it made reappearances for the Revolution video and the Get Back sessions then was stolen in the early 70s. Such an iconic instrument just gone for decades and Paul’s been touring with the 63 for a while now, one of a kind. Very cool to see both together again, like in that picture of Paul and John playing them like violins.
There are some interesting stories regarding that bass online, one I saw was that the finish was done by a repairer in the UK hence why the colour is darker which makes it unique and one of the ways they knew it was 'the one' ... great to see it back in Macca's hands again!
Two rock gods together. Massive privilege to see Macca at Manchester last Saturday (14th). Still pinching myself! Seen The Stones four times. Great acts in the 60's but The Beatles and The Stones were the best and they knew it. Used to co-ordinate their single releases so they didn't clash.
When I was younger I was always worried about in details, wrong notes played, sound, etc. Now that I'm almost 40 I've learned to enjoy playing and listening to music with my old friends everytime it´s possible =) "Life is still a gift"
In September 2023, The Sunday Telegraph published an article about the search, which led to global exposure. A family in Sussex contacted the project to say they had an old bass guitar in their attic. Both Höfner and McCartney authenticated the guitar, which was returned to McCartney.
The vibrancy of the sunburst paint job is amazing. Watching this video I figured it had been repainted as part of the restoration process, but that doesn’t appear to be the case (thankfully). I’m looking at photos taken shortly after it was found and it looks just like it does here. I guess that’s from just sitting in the case for so many years. 👍
Funnily enough, I think his 63 Hofner is more famous as it appears on more Beatles records and was his main touring bass in the Beatles from 63-66 and solo since 89. The stolen Hofner was his original, but was really in use for less than two years (except for brief usage in 68-69). Its original look was kind of destroyed in the mid 60s when it was refinished. I think the 63 Hofner is much nicer.
Great to see that bass back n Paul's hands. He played it until he got his second famous Hofner (the one you always see) and the endorsement deal Brain Epstein arranged for him. It had been played hard and worn out a bit. So in the late sixties he had it repaired (new setup, electronics repaired, and new pickup ring installed) just in time for the Get Back/Let It be session and film, only for it to be stolen off the equipment truck one day! Fifty years and a crazy story later Paul has it back!
The stolen bass was refinished in the late 60s and looks nothing like it originally did, color wise. It originally had a finish very close to what his 63 Hofner has. The 63 still has its original finish and looks great for its age. The main alteration was the removal of the pick guard in the 60s.
I don't mean to be disrespectful; however, after decades of taking it to the limit Paul's voice has called it quits. It's probably best that he does as well and just bow out gracefully. After all he is 82.

Old guys , old bass. Old songs It doesn't get any better and it never will.
Never too old as they say.
Brian Ray and Rusty Anderson, who have been in Paul's touring band for ages now, are both amazing guitarists.
And as musicians will always win 'top that'.

This is the first time we are seeing him play this bass in high definition!!
A nice sentiment, but the bass appears in both the Let It Be film and the Get Back documentary… both shot on film and available in HD.
