Experiences of a life time... amazing how you are able to find accomodations in a heartbeat and jump into the next phase of your adventure.Sacrifices on land.. . for access to another world.
Finally got a chance to watch this! Enjoyed the mangrove paddle, I’ve done that in Key West and loved
it. Thanks for the great narration as well.
Love your BnB with the great view!
We really liked Turner River. That was more fun than this one in Bonaire
@ know that you are back you can watch Silo S2 and Severance S2.
This has been a great video series and I'll watch the turtle dive multiple times. Having Jenn's reactions to your comments adds lots of fun to the experience. I always appreciate that you bring us on the adventure. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Bye bye Bonaire (for now) , hello very nice rental . That vieuw is stunning . Have a nice holiday and wilderness class .
Thank you both for filming and posting your dive adventure. Really liked all the episodes.
Glad you enjoyed them! Feels like these have gotten a better reception vs Socorro / Komodo
@ chuckled every time the music faded in when you went below the waves. As if it was playing underwater…nice touch Bishop!
I could live in that air BNB that sunset view is perfect
Our one last year was awesome but I think this one is even better
It looked like you two had a great time. I've never been to Indonesia so I guess I'll get to travel vicariously through you two.
Side note, I picked up Dungeon Crawler Carl based on your mentioning it in an earlier video. Now I'm thoroughly addicted. So thanks for that.
Those books are awesome! Next audio book comes out in February!
Even though I usually enjoy your land hikes more than the diving, I think this was a very enjoyable video.
Happy holidays! I don't dive, so I don't usually watch dive videos. These were interesting & fun. Thanks for expanding my TH-cam watching.
Glad you liked them! Anything in particular that made these more watchable vs others? It does seem like the response was a bit more positive this time
@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes It was a nice mix of travel around the island, dives with different things to see (friend fish, turtles, wrecks, lots of different fish), commentary, & a very relaxed vibe (which is easier to have on a shorter vacation). I enjoyed the variety.
A great trip, Y'all have Happy Holidays!
thanks for the western sunsets
Damn. That sunset from your cabin...
Makes me look forward to getting up every morning :)
Thanks, sorry it’s over way too soon. ✌🏻👊🏼
Sequel next Thanksgiving :)
I could stand hanging out at that rental place for four months. Looks like it has awesome views. If you want to introduce Jen to cold bring her to New England after you return from Indonesia. 15 degrees with wind in CT today.
Our rental last winter was pretty amazing but this one is even better. I was actually sad to leave it to come out here to Indonesia. And yea, Jen wouldn’t be able to survive out east. California baby, doesn’t know the true meaning of winter weather :)
Bet you didn’t snorkel on the Turner River. I loved the Turner river The closest I’ve been to a wild alligator.
We got rather close to a few big ones there. Makes you pay attention but they aren’t *that* inclined to chomp on tourists…
Please do Cayman. It will compare favorably with Bonaire.
I thought Cayman was more boat dive focused? My understanding is Bonaire is hard to beat as far as shore diving / getting to do your own thing
Having said that it is on our list. Our problem is diving is expensive and Jen’s vacation time is very limited since summers are spoken for :)
@@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes There is both boat and shore in Cayman, but we’ve done mostly live aboard, cost per dive is significantly reduced. Typically will do 25 dives ( including night dives) over a week. Waking up on the water is grand. Being rocked to sleep at night is too. There are 3 islands to the Caymans and the live aboard lets you experience all of them . Water clarity is generally unmatched unless you’re in a spring fed river.
@ we are looking for a more affordable liveaboard option for next Christmas. Since it falls between the Yukon and Europe thru hike and we’re doing Bonaire again we’re concerned about the cost of a lot of the nicer options. I’ll look into it!
@ We did several trips on the Cayman Aggressor back in the 80’s and 90’s. Merry Christmas!🎄
It did look like the coral might be affected by climate change, is that why it’s not in good shape? I also looked it up and those organ pipe looking cacti are scrub cacti lol.
It’s a combo. Ocean acidification + higher temperatures are hitting pretty much everywhere. The loss of the giant corals is that disease they think came from Florida. Plus side didn’t seem to be as much human caused damage as elsewhere I’ve been
@ for the longest time the star fish in the pnw were dying from a wasting disease, but their numbers have bounced back as the resistant ones reproduce. I hope something like that is possible, though obviously climate change must be addressed and we can’t just hope for it to all be ok.
Ocean changes can be really bad just because everything is adapted to very stable conditions. See the struggles having a saltwater aquarium. Here per the locals the actual bleaching effect was worse at the time we were there due to the unusually warm water was lasting longer than usual. Often corals can survive that though they are weakened. The coral disease they are seeing resistant coral breeding / being seeded so there is hope the worst is past
