Why not just cover the old vent hood in wood? Seems like that would be less expensive and easier with ultimately the same outcome. So happy to see your fresh posts, keep them coming please.
I totally thought about that! But, the bottom of the old vent reached passed bottom shelf. So if we covered it with wood I would have had to remove the shelves with how wide the vent would have been!
