I completely agree. Amazing production, amazing cast, and just all around amazing. I wish the Met would release this on home video at some point, but I don't know if they ever will. There's certainly a lot of people that would be happy to have it, myself included.
Eh. It's good, I can say that, but I prefer the 1987 Salzburg Easter Festival version. I mean, who can doubt the baton of Maestro von Karajan in that production?
Totally agree with you. Unfortunately I don't think they'll release this on dvd because the Met prefers that we subscribe to its online service to watch full-length operas.
The best version of Don Giovanni out there. The singing is amazing, the acting is on point and the set and costumes are so good!
What about the Movie? Rugiero Raimondi, Te Kanawa, Moser, Van Dam. This is extremely good, but the ultimate is still That movie., And the soundtrack.
Love Ramey and Hadley!
Il mio Don Giovanni preferito: Ramey, Furlanetto, Jerry Hadley insieme ed una splendida scenografia. 😊
Ramey and Furlanetto, the perfect duo for Giovanni and Leporello respectively!
This Met's production -1990- is absolutely the best version ever!!! Thanks for posting it.

Plus, there is a full version of that out on TH-cam.
Sorry, best production ever is the Czinner film conducted by Furtwängler. No other production comes close.

the best!
I must see it!
