For a while, I put a lot of pressure on myself to chop a sample into a unique pattern to prove to myself that I put my own original touch on it. Lately, I've been just looping the samples I find to avoid over complicating things. The curation of your sample selection speaks for itself and that process shouldn't be overlooked regardless of chopping a unique pattern or looping. 9th Wonder's new Rhythm Roulette inspired this mindset for me.
I highly recommend his course if you’re on the fence about it! I bought an MPC Live 2 a couple months back and was super intimidated with it I never touched it. Took Malo’s course and I was choppin’ with so much confidence a day later. Wish I had took it sooner! Really appreciate you doing one for MPC 3 and can’t wait for the future lessons! One of the best teachers out there! Much appreciated man!
I got the course as well.. I learned a lot even though I was already using the live 2. I knew enough to sample and make full songs, but it filled in a lot of gaps.

Thanks for this video. This is alla bout habving fu and pleasure to make beat and music. And the hability you've got to chop on counting is impressive ! It's hard for me to manage to count. I try, and often... I failed ! Happily, with MPC, I can't trim the chop and adjust the end and start point. That's a little more work but it's cool. It's so sad that you can't choose the time signature with the 3.0firmware. Because it seems so attractive and useful. To see you record on the fly in the arranger, it's surprising. @@Yourlifedependsonme yes, I mainly focus on the MPC software. The only difference that you’re gonna have is your layout but all these machines have the same buttons just different layout. If I were you, I would get the MPC one course. I will work on a MPC key 37 course down the road and whenever that is available, you could always upgrade to that one without any cost.

hey malo! i've been trying to get into making boom bap for around half a year now in fl studio, and i feel like im not really improving all of my beats sound the same and they are not great lol. You could jump into the track edit page and right there within your first tab I think it’s called global you’re able to lower the volume of each individual pad that you have selected
7:44 that’s how instarted doing it when I taught myself to make beats. I like to play the sample like an instrument. I don’t really like looping predefined samples for 2 or 4 bars and then adding drums over it. To me a sampled song is no different than a kick sample or a sampled program of another instrument.

TBH stem sep is a Canon Event. I literally just chop the sample to get my drums bass synths, etc 😁💯🥁🎧🎶
