  • Years after the 1991 draft trade fell through, the Rangers finally acquired Eric Lindros from the Philadelphia Flyers, in exchange for Pavel Brendl, Jan Hlavac, and Kim Johnsson. Lindros would produce a ton during his first season as a Ranger, including two hat tricks but would decline significantly in the final two seasons, the last one ending prematurely from a concussion. Brendl would flame out in limited NHL action, not living up to his draft hype. Hlavac would float around the NHL, while Johnsson would play eleven seasons in the show.
In this video, I scoured all of the goals he scored as a Ranger I could find, along with a TSN Sportsdesk report from when the trade broke.

These were the dark days for sure, but Lindros played pretty well all things considered. Thanks for uploading this.

His numbers in NYR were actually pretty good. He played there the final three years of the dead puck era. He made an all star game his first year in NY where he was 9th in the league in Points per game (How is that not still elite ya know?) and he he was just a point per game player for his career in NY.

Sather and the Rangers did extensive analysis and found that Lindros' name carried more weight than his brain matter

A privileged player with a privileged background. His teammates never cared for him

I'm a long time Ranger fan, Eric Lindros was a mere shell of the player that he was when he was with the Flyers due to concussions. I often wonder to this day how many Stanley Cups would Lindros have won if he had teamed up with Joe Sackett when the Quebec Nordiques moved to Colorado. 🏒🏒🏒🏒🏒🏒 We'll Never Know.
