- Working with lichfieldtreew... on some tree trimming of some overgrown conifers in Lichfield.
Most tree surgeons have a love-hate relationship with conifers. But it's bread and butter stuff for us all. This conifer was reduced and trimmed on all sides to allow more light into the gardens all around.

Can you advise: We have a pine tree with cones, it's getting big but we just need to knw where to cut back so it keeps growing.
Pines (and most conifers) are really hard to prune correctly. They lack the ability to sprout from timber (broadleaf trees do this though epicormic buds) so you’re limited in how much you can take off.
You’re limited to pruning back only as far as you can maintain green leaf cover. Cut the leaves (needles) off and it won’t grow anymore.
So correct pruning would be to take little and take often.
Often people leave it too long and take off too much.
It’s hard to give anything specific without seeing the tree and knowing its species and location. I’d contact a few local tree surgeons and see what they think.

I have no idea in all honesty, a few hundred maybe. I just worked as a sub contractor so don’t get involved in the pricing and money side of things. Sorry couldn’t be more help

You're going to have to get a local tree surgery business to deal with them by the sounds of it. If they are that big there will be a lot of waste branches to remove
