A little surprise that when you talked about Pikachu being Togepi's Babysitter/Protector you didn't mention Pikachu had a name for it, "Pi Pi Pi" (To Ge Pi), Pikachu actually had a lot of vocalisations for character's names, "Pika Pi" for Ash (Satoshi is his Japanese name) for one example.
Togepi is one of the most adorable pokemon I've ever seen and seeing it leave it's adoptive mom Misty after evolving into Togetic was really sad. I wish we got a reunion between the two.
Togepi was such an iconic Pokémon owned by Misty and was the Johto mascot imo. It was always viewed as a baby so when I saw Misty return with it, I had a feeling it was gonna evolve, but I didn’t know that it was gonna leave. After Togepi evolves you could see that it was grown and happy for everything Misty did and he was ready to move on. It was truly one of the saddest moments of the released Pokémon.
that was probably not it. It was just a writers decision to soften misty because the anime was becoming more and more aimed at little kids. But I like that togepi theory nevertheless. haha
@@Justitia_Nomen yeah. old misty, old ash. they were the best. In the anime from nowadays Misty would never say those things to psyduck that she used to say. 😂😂
they literally not only brought back misty back in 3rd gen to rid of her most iconic mon, but then they tried to replace it with azurill and no one liked it, so much so that it was gone the next time we saw her It still crazy just how much journey had that they can use for massive fanservice and returns only to have filler.....
I think that was the point that Togepi needed to grow up. Sometimes releasing Pokémon is important and Misty never did that before. Only Brock with Vulpix and Ash with Butterfree.
Here’s a theory! In the episode the prehistoric Pokémon, there was a trainer traveling around the world with the Togepi egg hoping for it to hatch. It heard the commotion on what happened to Ash and wanted to help out. The trainer set the egg down to help and then when Jigglypuff started to sing, everyone fell asleep. Then when Charizard got Ash to the ground safely, Ash rolled to the egg and it was in his arms. When he woke up he stuffed the egg in his backpack without anyone noticing. So that means Ash Ketchum is the greatest Pokémon thief than Team Rocket ever could.
I loved Misty and Togepi’s strong loving mother and baby relationship bond they shared though out Ash’s journey and when she bid farewell to it when it evolved into Togetic it was one of the sweetest and most bittersweet moments thanks for sharing this beautiful video looking at Misty’s most iconic Pokémon in her team 👍❤️
Aside from the real life tragic circumstances revolving Around May’s Japanese voice actress preventing her getting any lines and Max’s Japanese actress retiring from acting completely, Togetic was the only major character from the Original Series, to not appear in Journeys.
It's a shame that Misty's Togetic have to leave Misty just to protect a group of Togepi in the Mirage Kingdom to protect the Togepi because it had stayed with Misty in the first place then Misty could have found the Shiny Stone which would make Togetic evolved into a big flying elegant Togekiss.
I can’t believe that the writers tried to replace Togepi with Azurill in the battle frontier arc! Togepi is way too cute and memorable to just be replaced by a random Pokémon that Misty caught off screen!
Facts about Misty’s Togepi: . It’s the sixth Pokémon acquired by Misty in the anime, and the third she acquired within the first season . It was acquired in the Kanto region . It was a Togepi for the majority of its journey with Misty . Togetic is a Normal/Flying-type Pokémon that owned by Misty . Togetic is the only Pokémon Misty has owned that is neither Water-type nor can evolve into a Water-type Pokémon . Togetic is the first Pokémon a main character other than Ash or Team Rocket has released . As a Togepi, it was the first Generation II Pokémon to be obtained by a main character, and overall the second Generation II Pokémon to appear in Pokémon the Series: The Beginning after Ho-Oh . Togetic took the longest to evolve out of any Pokémon belonging to one ☝️ of Ash’s friends that has evolved onscreen . Togetic is the only main character of Pokémon the Series, human or Pokémon, who did not appear in Pokémon Journeys: The Series, due to it being released into a different dimension . Togetic is also the only Pokémon main character to no longer be under its Trainer’s ownership . Togetic holds the record for the most appearances out of the Pokémon belonging to Ash’s friends, at 227 main series episodes . In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, if the player brings a walking Togepi to the Cerulean Gym, it will start to cry 😢 softly, referencing Misty’s Togepi . In Pokémon Channel, a Togepi will deliver Pikachu a special DVD 📀 of Pichu Bros. in Party Panic, which features Misty as the narrator, possibly referencing Misty’s Togepi . Togetic is referred to as a male in the Brazilian Portuguese dub of several episodes. However, this is unlikely to be an indication of its actual gender since the neutral pronoun in Portuguese language (‘’isso’’ = it) is not used to directly refer to someone or something; instead, ‘’ele’’ (he) or ‘’ela’’ (she) have to be used even if the gender of the subject is unknown . Togetic is the first of Misty’s Pokémon to not actually be a Water-type . Togetic is one ☝️ of Misty’s officially trained Pokémon not to appear in the Journeys anime series . Togetic was the second Pokémon owned by a main character to never be in a Pokéball, the first one ☝️ being Ash’s Pikachu
Amongst many of my favourite Pokemon Togepi is also one that I hold dear to my heart, who wouldn't love it's super cute adorable appearance and nature. Honestly if someone says it doesn't cause a small tingle in their hearts, then they have a heart of stone. I quite agree with your assessment Professor Silver, but as you said we have to make do with what little time we had. Seeing it evolve from a Togetic to Togekiss would have been something.
Misty's Togepi was always adorable, but... Like Greninja... I kinda hated the way they made it leave. They brought Misty back for two episodes just to lose Togepi... When it could've been a Chronicles episode, at least... Or special... It seemed forced... And replaced Togei with Azurill, which went nowhere. Overall, Togepi was an adorable and great addition to the squad while it was here, but it went out on a sour note.
Just like Rocky in BFDI, Togepi is shown to be chaotic and child like, barely moving and showing any emotions besides happiness But unlike it, Rocky can be also display his emotions occasionally
I also haven't been this early to a video. I think Togetic should have evolved into Togekiss as well. But both Togepi and Togetic gave Misty good character development.
Okay hot take: While I would have maybe enjoyed a togetic making a cameo visit as a togekiss in Aim to be a Pokemon master, I actually really like the ending it got in this episode. Like Misty and Togepi aren't really pokemon and trainer, as Misty never caught Togepi in a pokeball and she does not battle with it. Yes the pair's lack of battling together does largely stem from Togepi being a Jhoto pokemon that hatched in the middle of the Kanto arc, and none of the group having any idea what moves it can learn. But even ignoring the regions Misty's goal with Togepi and what Togepi needed from her wasn't a strong trainer, but that of a loving surrogate mother. Dexter told the gang that the reason Togepi attached itself to Misty was that, since she was the first person it saw after hatching, it thought she was its mother. Misty then promised Togepi she would love it just like a mother would. Then she does just that for the rest of their time together. Because she raised it with so much love and care it grew up strong, brave, and Protective. Into exactly the kind of protector the Togepi of Mirage Kingdom needed. Once Togepi was grown Misty did the last thing a mother has to do: She let her now grown baby go off into the world to chose its own path.
A memorable note that the professor dedicated this video to the VA of misty.. Likely how Togepi spent some fun together with Misty as she grew as a person , an actor and to the rest of the world
They need to be reunited! 🥺 Separating them was an absolute travesty. 😭 Misty and Togepi belong together like Ash and Pikachu. ✨ I hope she meets her Togetic and evolves into Togekiss one day, and they stay together! 💗
I get why Togetic couldn't evolve further in the Gen III series (Togekiss was introduced in Gen IV), and I kinda get why Togetic left since the Togepi line is not Water-type, but it would have been cool if Misty got to reunite with Togetic which later became Togekiss (Dawn and Cynthia own a Togekiss, so why can't Misty?). Also, that's the best moveset the writers can come up with?! And it also doesn't battle a lot?!
I honestly think that there are 2 big reasons why Misty kept Togepi from battling more, and thus getting more developement: 1) Being that it's just a baby, she obviously felt that it was more or less helpless, and seeing how frequently it got into trouble only had to have reaffirmed her thoughts on this matter, making her worry that if she ever did have it battle, it wouldn't be able to be serious enough to follow orders. This can most notably be seen when she uses it to face Pikachu when trying to claim Totodile, exploiting the fact that Pikachu wouldn't hurt Togepi -- which is actually kind of genius on her part because she clearly was aware that Pikachu had a type advantage against her other water type Pokemon. 2) The fact that Togepi wasn't a water type may also have prevented her from sending it out in battles as it's not the type of Pokemon she specializes in training -- recall that she was only interested in it because of how cute it was, and was able to recognize that she was the first thing it saw after hatching; if it weren't for these 2 factors, she probably wouldn't have been interested in Togepi otherwise. That second point is admittedly little more than speculation, really, but in my mind, it makes sense given her only other Pokemon she owned that wasn't a water type was the Azurill that she received from Tracy, which notably evolves into a water type. All that being said, seeing Togepi FINALLY evolve only to promptly be released so it could protect others of it's kind was very bittersweet, especially when you recall that Togetic on the whole hasn't really been featured in the rest of the series -- no matter how prominently or even just in a small cameo role -- in any other episode of note, as far as I'm aware. With that in mind, Togepi was clearly used as a way to show Misty's softer side and make her feel more like a well-rounded character, and it's interesting to see that one of her most prominent Pokemon isn't actually a water type at all. Speaking of water types, a video I'd personally like to see sometime in the future is on my favorite water type starter, Lana's Primarina
you should try n guess their natures and the little bit of extra info they use to give us to make pkmn alittle more diverse (i think they were called Characteristics ) like likes to run or loves to eat, Takes plenty of siestas, Proud of its power, Highly curious, etc
Even if this was one of the most saddest goodbyes in the anime, it’s for the best. Togetic had to stay in the Togepi kingdom to protect the togepis if any other cruel human tries to hurt them. I do wish misty and togetic had a reunion or something. Pokemon journeys for example, as much as I do like that series, it had a lot of lost potential by not adding the reunions of ash with every companion he made, not even misty got to meet up with togetic again, and it’s such a shame.
I still remember the day we met Togepi. I was so confused c ause back then, we only had 151 known pokemon. It feels like it was yesterday, but it was actually ages ago
random thought and fan theory, I don't think Togepi was ever put in a pokeball so there is a possibility that when it evolved into Togetic it sensed what was going on in Sinnoh and decided to investigate with a couple of Togepi. seeing the rare pokemon there perhaps that Togetic was caught by synthia and raised to a togekiss?
You know Professor, Misty’s Togepi started off as a Pokémon egg 🥚 and was found by Ash in Grampa Canyon in Attack of the Prehistoric Pokémon and remains as a egg 🥚 from Attack of the Prehistoric Pokémon to Who Gets to Keep Togepi? where in the episode it hatched 🐣 into a Togepi, later Ash, Misty, Brock, and Meowth decide to have a tournament 🏟️ to see who will keep Togepi and Ash wins the tournament 🏟️, but Togepi chooses to go with Misty instead since it still doesn’t want to go with Ash or Brock, Ash’s Pokédex explains that, when Togepi hatched 🐣, it imprinted on her as its parent, much to Misty’s benefit and thinking 🤔 that she was its mother 👩. This was in spite of the fact that Ash officially won 🥇 the tournament 🏟️ Togepi was for the majority of its journey with Misty and she carried it in her arms through Kanto, the Orange Islands and Johto, and it also appeared in Mewtwo Returns
It was so shocking to see the beating togepi took in advanced. Gyrados being used to aid is a perfect way for Mistys growth to mirror its evolution. Shes now using a pokemon she was once terrified like a true water type master!
Back in the 90s, I had a gen 1 pokedex sticker book. It had the first 150 pokemon. It then had 4 empty slots to write the names of any 4 pokemon u made up. I just put in mew, togepi, snubull, & elephant pokemon (donphan). To this day, I have no idea what the name of this book is
Damn this video unlocked a depressing memory in my mind. I wish they somehow feature misty and her Togekiss in the new series where misty use water Terastal on it.
I think Misty’s Togetic was cute and seeing growth from a baby to A Strong protector was cool while I wish Ash did get to keep it as having to care for Togepi would’ve help him grow more during the Kanto journey and it may have help him to raise his team better I agree it helped Misty growth through the series making more caring and I hope she will reunite with it one day and next do a video on Dawn’s Bunerey.
While I understand Misty letting togetic go it’s still something of a tear jerker and I kinda wish that togetic and Misty reunited possibly as a togekiss even if for a “day” or so
Am I the only one who suspects Togetic was supposed to evolve into Latios & Latias? Then Pokemon changed it last minute? Think about it-if you compare Togetic & Latios/as, they all have the Same head shape, Same neck shape, Fly around the world, Related to kindness/hapiness/peace, and literally has the same Red & Blue triangle pattern…. I wonder why Pokemon decided to scrap that idea because it would’ve been really cool
I still do this day do not approve of the Writers getting rid of Misty's Togepi and making it evolve in Ruby and Sapphire. I loved that Pokemon as a kid and the way they got rid of it was lame and pathetic and shows no respect for the fans of the first two gens of the anime. So I would have been happy if Misty kept Togepi forever and it never at all. Sorry but that's my opinion, Professor, and it why I don't care for the Ruby and Sapphire series.
When they did the journey to be a Pokémon master at the end of the series it would have been nice to do a episode where misty reunited with togetic somehow
Releases are usually hit or miss for me. For every Goodra and Butterfree there are Primape and Ambipom. Togetic definitely falls under the "Ambipom" category. It feels like they brought Misty back for 2 episodes for the sole purpose of releasing her most recognizable Pokemon. Togepi didn't even do much of anything except be a baby for 99% of it's screen time so the actions it takes in its final 2 episodes feel so out of left field. There was just no reason to do this and I'm not really sure why they did.
Which Pokemon should we tackle next??
Ash and Hawlucha! pls!

It should've returned as a Togekiss.
random thought and fan theory, I don't think Togepi was ever put in a pokeball so there is a possibility that when it evolved into Togetic it sensed what was going on in Sinnoh and decided to investigate with a couple of Togepi. seeing the rare pokemon there perhaps that Togetic was caught by synthia and raised to a togekiss?
This was in spite of the fact that Ash officially won 🥇 the tournament 🏟️
Togepi was for the majority of its journey with Misty and she carried it in her arms through Kanto, the Orange Islands and Johto, and it also appeared in Mewtwo Returns
I (and many others) feel like the Mirage Kingdom two-parter was made just to make Misty’s Togepi leave her.
Definitely one of goals of that two-parter
She is one of my fav pokemon because of her portrayal in the anime. She is just so sweet and cute!
That it is!
Awesome content 🎉
Glad you liked it!
Finally you're back and Also make a vídeo about Ash's aipom
Working on the script!
❤thank god your videos exist
It was so shocking to see the beating togepi took in advanced. Gyrados being used to aid is a perfect way for Mistys growth to mirror its evolution. Shes now using a pokemon she was once terrified like a true water type master!
I loved seeing Gyarados use Flamethrower
Togipi the real first gen 2 pokemon?
But yeah it had an big impact on misty and was funny during most episodes
R.i.p Rachael Lillis, I got to see her at the comic con in London before she passed.
💜
Nice work! Do you think you could do Dawn's Piplup
Hopefully sometime this year :)
Back in the 90s, I had a gen 1 pokedex sticker book. It had the first 150 pokemon. It then had 4 empty slots to write the names of any 4 pokemon u made up. I just put in mew, togepi, snubull, & elephant pokemon (donphan). To this day, I have no idea what the name of this book is
I probably had the same book lol
@@ProfessorAlexSilver I'm still looking for it, to this day. Lmk if u find out what it is 🤔
Damn this video unlocked a depressing memory in my mind. I wish they somehow feature misty and her Togekiss in the new series where misty use water Terastal on it.
Misty's Togetic was so cute as a Togepi!
That it was 🥹
I LOVE THEM SO MUCH
Same here 😎
I hope you'll someday do a video on Serena's Pancham, seeing how it went from a troublemaker to a big-hearted star.
That'd be a fun one to tackle
My hope is that Misty's Togetic mite returns some ware in the future...
Oh... Professor 🔥
Hope Togetic and Misty will be reunited! Kinda miss Togetic with Misty T.T I watched the series all throughout.
Togepi is one of the iconic stars on pokemon
Togetics reléase episode made me cry more than any other pokemon episode.
Bye Bye Butterfree 😭
Would be nice for them to reunite and have Togetic evolve into Togekiss.
Agreed!
wonderful video
Thanks!!!
Amazing video made me a little sad! Which pokemon should be next? My vote is on May's skitty!
Most likely, it'll be a team. Rocket pokémon. But I might do one on Ash if I have the time
Happy late birthday to Masaaki-San he voice of Sion and voice of Ryuuen from they looks so fierce
Buneary would be a fun one 😁
While I understand Misty letting togetic go it’s still something of a tear jerker and I kinda wish that togetic and Misty reunited possibly as a togekiss even if for a “day” or so
Full History Video of Zoey's Glameow please.
That'd be a fun one to tackle
i cant remember if it happened or not but, misty should've had a togekiss during ash's final season
It never happened, but it would have been a cool episode
Great vid
Have you done a team rocket’s meowth yet?
Not yet 😅
@@ProfessorAlexSilver well then, consider that a suggestion
The houndoom episode was such a fun episode
That it was 😁
Thank you
My pleasure!
Does it hurt your eyes squinting all the time
Can you do Paul's houchkrow next please
I agree 😎
Togepi is the cutest. 😊
Butterfree would like a word 😅
I think Togepi should've evolved into Togetic during Johto anime
Could have been a very cool storyline
I’d like her to meet Dawn’s Togekiss
That'd be an awesome crossover
I wanted togetic to make a comeback to see to as awesome togekiss like iris haxorus
That would have been awesome
Releases are usually hit or miss for me. For every Goodra and Butterfree there are Primape and Ambipom. Togetic definitely falls under the "Ambipom" category. It feels like they brought Misty back for 2 episodes for the sole purpose of releasing her most recognizable Pokemon. Togepi didn't even do much of anything except be a baby for 99% of it's screen time so the actions it takes in its final 2 episodes feel so out of left field. There was just no reason to do this and I'm not really sure why they did.
