Not only is the finished model amazing and the level of painting just incredible, the actual detail in the 3D printed model is just nuts! I do a little bit of 3D modelling g and printing and I know there is a fine line when it comes to super fine details and what the printer can achieve….so my deepest respect to the modeller and the printer that made this possible! Once again you have set the bar!
To quote the legendary Frankie Howerd, "I was flabbergasted! My gast has never been so flabbered" I've never seen such a well designed and made model with such accurate parts and the figure was simply amazing. Your ability to build and paint vehicles AND figures is beyond belief. Some can paint fantastic vehicles but their human models look almost cartoonish. You have that rare talent of being able to make and paint both to the highest degree. Regarding the bike, shouldn't this be the way in the future of model designing? Injection moulding is so "1950's" now it's about time the model making industry came into the 21st century. If they can just get rid of the visible layer lines then the models of the future will really be literal miniatures of the original item. Fantastic work!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks Fus that's really kind. I think the tech is there now, the stuart I have cooking has zero visible layers, I think super detailed bits like this are more tricky to perfect mind. The only problem I see is the resin being brittle, and hard to glue. Unless some form of uv styrene turns up there is still that minor issue. I mean superglue and epoxy work, but sometimes the working time and carvability of styrene is nicer. Like figures for example, the ability to blend out the bumps left from supports would be amazing if it was a bit less time consuming. That being said I do love 3d printed bits and the files avaliable are increasing daily !
Hi James, you mentioned at the start, thst you hoped you could do this build justice, well I can tell you, you certainly have donebthe kit great justice, congratulations on a job very well done, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia, Les
Yes James. It quite probably is your best model yet. But I also think i's your best video yet. Great choice in mood music capturing the essence of 1917 very well. Loved it!
Thanks Ferbie, I'm really pleased that extra bit of effort paid off. 😀 it was a risk with the different opener but it sets the scene nicely, the music choice was tricky, I was worried the backing music would be too sad, but it works !
That figure is fantastic. Try as I might I still can't quite crack them like that yet. Really nice subject with the early motorcycle too. Funny to see it has both manual pedals and a drive belt.
Thanks mate ! Just keep slapping paint on, it's just time, and being self critical enough to make improvements but not enough to put you off , maybe try some different approaches to learn new techniques. Sometimes a mix of several gets you where you want
thats awesome very nice work indeed ! I need to ask Edgar to send me that kit is great ,as i told them before they need to make an 1/16 scale will be a killer kit !By the way a small tip because you have already uv resin to your hands ,when you want to remove some of the layer lines you can brush some of it especially if it is a flat surface ,cure it and you are done ! Works for me anyway and makes those layers less pronounced !
James mate, truly incredible! Massive respect for that figure, and I also really like the fact that the bike looks dirty and weathered, but that the weathering is in-scale. It's super easy to go overboard but you've got it just right with this!
I was clearly born forty or fifty years too early. The quality of that model before you ever did anything with it just blew my mind. Motorcycles in that scale have been something I've always avoided due to not wanting to go blind and crazy and frustrated with superdetailing.
Excellent work! At the end of painting a figure I like to take a brush barely moistened with an extremely diluted satin varnish and extremely lightly feather on (or as Bob Ross called it "Two hairs and some air") to the flesh areas....gives a very realistic subtle look to the flesh.
@@lpjmodels Your welcome! Many decades ago I attended several of Shep Paine's figure painting/diorama classes and that is one of the many tips he taught us.
Superb subject and craftmanship. Loved the video and the classical "theme" music with plenty of nostalgia. Given all these elements, this is one the best modelling videos I've seen in a while, well done and thank you!
I think you did an amazing job. I would put you amongst the best figure painters I watch on You Tube. I am ok with the clothes but my face painting leaves a lot to be desired, but I think I need to focus on the better moulded figures.
Nice job! But the printing layers are still quite visible - It's the only disadvantage of this model. The same problem with CSM Tiger Model H bike I built recently. That's why I doubt about purchasing their next bikes (but their planes and armoured cars are beautiful!).
Hi James, After nearly two years I think, I am slowly getting my modelling mojo back. I have for the past couple of months been attempting some wooden ship kits. As you can imagine these are slow going. I admit that on one of them I have reached the rigging stage and am putting it off, plus my aging eyes are against me these days. I seem to have problems with I guess depth of field for want of a better description and that is with new glasses. Magnifying head band helps but using it for too long seems to give me a headache. I have however picked up a model from my drastically reduced stash, Great Wall Hobby's Me 323 'Gigant' in 1/144 scale and so far I am enjoying it. I am catching up with your vids and have to agree this is one of your finest, but then it's hard to choose. The 3d printing is unbelievable, I wonder what kind of printer they are using, I can't imagine my Saturn 3 Ultra doing it. I might have ago printing that Stuart you did in the video that I am watching on the TV while typing this, so excuse any spulling mistooks. I hope all is well with you and Sophie. Kind regards, Mark.
Amazing work mate! The figure colour balance is phenomenal, you've blended everything really well. What thinning ratio did you use for his face layers? Looking forward to your next video
'... Is this my best model yet ?...' Well, I've never seen any of your other videos - the link to this one was posted last night by MOS6510 on an Airfix and Chill live stream. However, I'd find it /very/ difficult to find anything better, so I'd have to say that if it /isn't/ it has to be in the top three :) One question about the painting. I watch another You Tuber Miniature Realms and he does a lot of figure painting using a 'zenithal like' technique of basing the whole figure in black and then spraying white from various directions always from the top to get natural shadows, and then dry brushes white to pick out highlights. After that he uses contrast /style/ paints to add the colour with the shading automatically provided by the white. Really interesting to see a more traditional technique to create shades :)
These 'steps' from 3D printing are really visible. Shame CSM didn't manage to avoid them, because they charge a small fortune for this kit. Anyway and little bit of attention to details would be great move from their side. Same like in their platic models they omit some details tso later then can charge fortune for their' replacements'. Money is more interesting than customer satisfaction.
@lpjmodels why other guys like Miniart can give you kit which doesn't require extra addons at the relatively modest price and CSM charges fortune for their laziness in model design process? Look for their gun turret model, if you want to build it accurately you have to add the same amount of money like for basic kit. Not even mentioning price of horse pack for it.

Genial
Die detaillierte Bemalung des Kopfes und des gesamten Modells, in dieser Größe, ist unglaublich.
👊😎👍
Many thanks 🎉
Incredibly beautiful.
Has the look of so many different textures - top level finish. 🦸
Many thanks ! I'm glad they came out

Really nice build. Those 3D prints are amazing. Superb brush control with the fine detail on the fabrics. 😎
Thanks Sera it was super fun
@@lpjmodels maybe try a colab with 3Dgizmo ? They do a nice German motorbike and figure . 🤔
A beautifully executed model and a superbly edited video with atmosphere. Thanks James! 🤩

It's the spokes that do it for me. The new tamiya bike in 35th, the wheels let it down massively.

Really like the die Rama.
You like the painting of the figure top-notch?Can't wait to see your next video
Thanks bro !
very nice and such an accuratley sculpted bike and figure to boot. excellent paint work has brought this to life.✌👍👍👍👍
Thanks a lot ! Proud of this one
Great build! And the paint job wow! Now you should build his Fokker Triplane!
Thanks Duane ! At the moment I don't have plans for a tripping but maybe in the future
Incredible James! That figures face I just had to pause the video and zoom in! Epic detail levels! You’ve really set the bar high now mate!
Thanks Marc 😊
Painting eyes on a 1/35 figure is not easy to do. You did really nice work with this kit. Very enjoyable.
Thanks David ! I think I did well but I want to improve in that aspect. It helped that that eyeballs on the figure were well defined
What a fantastic build and paint job well done I wish I had half the skill level to do that
Thanks Chris, it's just time and practice, !

Brought that detail out nicely, stunning little model, really well done! 👍🇬🇧
Thanks Steve !
Great job, just beautiful!
Thanks Simon !
I have loved this build so much that I have ended up ordering the same kit from CSM. Your build will be the benchmark for to aspire for.
Thanks a lot ! I hope you enjoy the build
Absolutely stunning, the figure painting is just perfect! And what amazing details in the motorbike!
What a great build. The detail on the 3D bike is incredible but unfortunately I cannot unsee the print layer lines.😇
Thanks ! In person, without the scrutiny of macro zoom tubes, you'd be hard pressed to see them. You have to be as close as I was when working on it 😄
Wow. Amazing job!!!! Super skills. Thanks 😀
Thanks for watching :)

Fantastic job on the kit! I am building the Copper State standing RNAS pilot currently and the detail is impressive on it as well.

20$ (USD) for a nice figure is ok, but 50$ for a 1/35 motorcycle!!! That's crazy! Superb modeling, though.
Was the VMS CA glue the regular or thin version?
I tend to reach for whatever's closest, quite likely it was the PE version, Black I go for thin.
