I remember seeing a video where he talks about a young boy dying with cancer that just wanted to meet Journey. They showed up to meet him. John cried recounting that experience. He has my respect.
As a young Christian girl in the 1980s, Journey was a rock n roll inspiration. A relief from the usual tawdry, disapproved of rock n roll; it was rock n roll at it's best with no disrespect to God or others. Your songs reflected our lives and inspired us to move forward. I wholeheartedly agree that God has used your band and your talents. I am now 54 years old, teaching Youth Church is my joy, and Journey is still my favorite band. My heart soars to see your faith. I thank you for the inspiration of your music. May God bless you and all the members of Journey, past and present. Your music uplifts the soul much like the Psalms.
I have always loved Journey's music and listened to it as a teenager. The music has always touched my heart,no one can replace Steve Perry,plus come to find your a believer. Oh Hallelujah!

I met him backstage at a meet and greet...my fiance and I told him we were getting married in a month. He sent us his wedding instrumental cd in the mail...and it even had his return home address on it! Amazing guy...
My first concert at the age of 16 was Journey Escape in Chicago. That feeling still lives on in my heart, a bit of what heavenly joy is like. Most amazing concert sound I’ve ever been a part of. God speed!

This was amazing to watch & listen to Brother. I get chocked up to when I think back to what He has saved me from. Been saved since 2001, backslid a lot over the years, but He never left me nor forsaken me even when I rejected Him, turned to Wicca, almost became an atheist, etc. He never let go of me & because of that, I owe Him my heart, soul, & life. I am getting all teared up just typing this. LOL. I don't serve His mercy and grace, but He extends it to me every moment of every day. If JRNY decides to hang it up (hope not!) for whatever reason, you really should study to become a Pastor. I mean it. I have known for many years that you are a fellow Chicagoan, and have enjoyed your music as well. I never knew that you were a student at the school where fire took 93 innocent children. I also went to Catholic School from K to 8th grad and then begged my Mom to send me to a regular HS...Left the Catholic Church when I was about 20....searched for many years - went through the "new age" stuff to, but God and Jesus have been calling me back and I am finding my way back -- I am so grateful. Jonathan, thank you for sharing your worship music AND your Journey music. Although I knew of Journey in my youth I only recently became a true fan. My husband and I have been in church music ministry for over 30 years. He retired and it seemed like we had nothing in common anymore. Our marriage seem to be crumbling. But somehow I got interested in some of the old rock music that I haven’t really got to know in my youth. This is now brought us closer together and we actually attended the journey concert in Detroit just a few days ago. It was great and although I know we can’t meet I do want to say thank you because the way that you share has impacted my life greatly.
So true....the band Journey stepped away multiple times and they are back stronger than ever. Those songs that got picked for shows, commercials, movies, sporting events...seems like bands from the 70-80's have had a resurgence. People want to go back to a simpler time and these songs transport us to a time where we all just want to sing at the top of our lungs about music that makes us feel good!

The boy died of Cystic Fibrosis, not cancer.
That boy's name was Kenny, he died from cystic fibrosis or CF for short!
