Replacing a Sump Gasket - Briggs & Stratton INTEK V-Twin 20HP
Part 1 of 2
I split the original Video into two parts, to make it easier to watch.
This old John Deer L120 lawn tractor was putting out a cloud of smoke. The sump gasket was leaking and oil was dripping on the hot muffler.
I've never worked on one of these before, but I pulled the engine and replaced the sump gasket, and crankshaft main seal. So far so good!
Thank you for watching.

Great video! Thank you!
You're welcome! Thank you for watching!
I’m in the middle of doing this same project and your video helped quite a bit. Great work!
Good to hear it! Thank you for watching!
Another great video and in depth explanation of what’s involved, thanks
You're welcome. Thank you for watching!
Can the mower be stood up on its rear end and still reach the crankshaft seal without taking the engine off the frame?
I've never looked at it from that perspective. Sorry, I don't have an answer for that. Thank you for watching.
I just started to scrape my gasket off of mine, the gasket on my is so stuck on there, and I’m trying my best not to dig in, if I potentially dug little bit to hard will it cause major issues?
If the sealing surface is damaged, it might leak.
@@manabouthomeprolly would have to be some deep scratches.
Yep. Maybe try softening the gasket material with brake clean or similar. Let it soak in.
I don’t think you have to take all the stuff off the top , do you
You may not need to. But, if you want access to the flywheel, you'll need to remove the cover. Thanks for watching.
