You should put a board across the bottom of the sheep opening. The sheep will step over it and Elly wont be able to crawl through.. hopefully.

You are certainly getting your exercise this year. Doing well. And getting the pines trimmed was a good idea. It will be interesting to see how your ducklings make out.
Love the critters. Know how Rebecca feels about them. We adopted the neighbors outside cat when they moved and were going to put her in the pound. Couldn't take her inside at that time, so my husband built a well insulated 1.5' square house with an small windowed addition. We even heated it just enough to be safe for her. She would sit in the little addition and watch for anything coming her way and then would chase them away. We later moved her inside and I figured that she was 21 when she passed away.

Just thinking that, if Ellie is still trying to get through the sheep gate, you might install a board to split the opening in half vertically. Should still be plenty wide enough for the sheep but I'd bet that would really discourage Ellie from even trying. Just a thought from a non-farmer/rancher guy who doesn't know much but.... 🤷‍♂...lol.

Try triangle fence posts to keep the cows out. Two posts near enough for one person to go through with a third post in the middle about 18” away from first two. This allows people and dogs and sheep through but not cows and horse. Eventually stops pigs too. Bests opening and closing a fence.

    1. Put a pool noodle on that bottom board so that she doesn’t hurt herself if she continues trying to do the limbo. 2. Look thru Shawn James My Self Reliance in Muskoka ON about 2 1/2 years ago; he did the mushroom logs & it took 2 years to produce. Looking good!!🇨🇦

You could use all the large barrels you have to make at the simplest a TLUD gassifier to make biochar for use as soil improvement, carbon sequestration, water purification and more. Look up biochar. It might reduce the CO2 you release with every burn pile you use.....

  • @3dprintedhardware

Add some holes around the bottom half of your burn barrel with a pick axe. That will allow more oxygen to get in there and the wood will burn hotter/faster 👍

JudithB I can work most of the day and maybe finish the project. Sure doesnt seem like much accomplished, but spendng all day doing little projects makes a big difference!!! LOL! Sometimes I will just decide to do all the little projects that stack up while working on a big project so I feel like I am getting somethng done!!! LOL!!! I am still working in the garden and its looking much better, but a lot to do in there. My driveway is a wreck with all the storms coming through so may have to stop and concentrate on that. I would prune those pines up enough that the tractor can go under them, less of a fire hazzard too!
