This lady is a ditz. For $850,000 a year, forget a culture shock, I'll put up with electric shocks.

Some people value money. Some value other things. The culture shock of a change like that could drive some people to depression, or worse. Fear of a change like that is not to be dismissed.
They are never going to have trouble with money the rest of their life. The difference from 350-800 is not really a lot in terms of comforts and happiness, I think they would lead a much happier life in the city with a higher quality of living.

trbobitch06 not necessarily true, becoming a surgeon requires 4 years of undergrad, 4 years of medical school, and then 6-8 years of residency making only upwards of $70-$80k a year, so that’s almost close to 16 years of not being the breadwinner. They probably have to pay so much money because they will be going to remote oil fields where there are literally no people except for the oil unmarried workers the husband is paid to treat. There isn't even a rural culture to even be part of because that would require actual residents. The oil workers are also not from there and only taking that job because it pays 3x what less miserable work would pay.

There are plenty of ways to cheat in school. On the contrary, book smart does not mean common sense. Many people are also brain washed by brand marketing and status for temporary satisfaction. They need to ask themselves if it is a "want or a need" and try to not purchase on first sight. Atleast think about it overnight and do research about it. Stay away from emotional and compulsive shopping. Be tactical about choices and stop trying to keep up with the Jones's, or you will be 68 years old calling this guy worried about your retardedment. By the way, that picture is not of me. That is the idiot gang member who thought he could get away with robbing my friends house who is a sinlge hard working mom raising 4 kids. Depends, if it’s really really in the middle of nowhere where it snows all the time and your nearest neighbor is 100 meters away and there’s literally nothing to do and you have no friends nor relatives outside of your significant other it can take a big toll on your mental health. For example I often go visit my grandparents who live in the country and I have a lot of fun with them but I know that if I were to stay there for long periods of time it would be real hard for me, because there’s not a lot to do and not a lot of new people to meet

I’m a Med student and I completely agree with Dave’s advice. I don’t know how people complain about paying of medical school debt when you are making in the top 2% of income earners. The problem is most doctors try to play big and buy big houses, and drive expensive cars. youtubeaccount I 100% agree!! How annoying is she 🙄
youtubeaccount I agree! These people are a waste of his time! Clearly she doesn't follow Dave very closely.
Jason Burns I'm fine with it, but if you're intelligent enough to make that kind of income in a free market, then it's curious that you'd seek financial 'help' from a national radio talk show.
To complain about how miserable it would be to make 850K and live in a rural US town for three years is obscenely gauche and crass. Rarely have I heard such a lack of basic social awareness. No one ought to be criticzed for their wealth; That's beside the point entirely. Though if I were a producer on this show, I would only entertain calls from people that needed actual financial help and guidance. I would certainly not air the insufferable grievances of Eva Gabor... worried about missing out on the luxurious New York night life while earning more in one week than a sixth of households in America do in a year.
Be proud of your wealth and the sweat on your brow, but don't ever forget how fortunate you are to live in a society that allows one to prosper so greatly while others struggle.

I'm a french pharmacy student and I'm amazed by the high incomes in the US... For example a pharmacist here in France earns 32k dollars a year versus 100-120k for an american pharmacist. But at the same time your loans are frightening as in my country, getting a college degree is free so we don't really worry about debts. These differences are very interesting to me, and even if I'm not concerned I love to listen to Dave Ramsey helping people with their financial issues !
She just wanted to come on and brag about how much money they make. An extra $500k a year is a no brainer.
Dave literally said he would take the 350k. Why is everyone here laughing and saying 850 is the obvious choice?
If it’s 600k vs 100k, duh take the 600. 350 vs 850 doesn’t matter. You’re wealthy either way
@Jay Gerard you can retire much sooner with the 850k. It would make everything so much easier.
Wow...I would've taken the $850k job so quickly and stocked up on winter gear. The job is almost guaranteeing debt freedom within a few months.
a few months is 1/4 of the years pay, so about 212 thousand dollars and he is in a 40% tax bracket so really it's more like 128 thousand dollars. His med school dept is 300 thousand so they are going to need to be there for at least 8 months just to pay the dept off.

Um. Hello. Dave Ramsey, my husband wants to know whether i should drive the ferrari or the lambo.
Lol. Both, I want her problems.
Ahahahah exactly
Should he go to the moon or mars, we need help Dave.
😂
sounds like good problems to have
For the first time ever when Dave asks "Is he a doctor or a lawyer?" and I hear the response "He is a doctor" and he's an actual surgeon 😂
This is like every hallmark movie. New Yorker moves to small town ends up loving it.
It’s true!😊
$850,000/year and...the problem is......??? You don't want to live in the rural? ughghghghhghghgghhgghghghghghhgahghhhghhghgh
Right
Entitled...
This woman is NOT going to take Dave's advice. It is clear in the tone of her voice. Kudos to Dave, for continuing to give good advice to his radio audience ... when it is clear to him, that she has stopped listening.
This is someone who holds her lifestyle to a very high standard, and can't bare to leave the hustle and bustle of the city for a few years.
She called to show off the money. There was hardly even a question asked.
funny think is that theres ton of others out there with 100x what they make. not impressed with their incomes
Watching this in 2019, so her 3 years is up.
Ha ha, 10 bucks she didn't go?
AMPM Ri 😂
@@ampmri2434 I hope he did. No woman would stand between me and 1.5 million extra for the same work.
Oh God northern Maine where the closest town is 1 hour away how will this poor woman survive??!! Only 850,000$ a year to live on someone make a go-fund-me for this poor woman.
I know😂😂😂😂Go fund me is the way to go😂😂😂😂This poor thing😂😂😂
We go to Maine to shop. I love the people there. They are either friendly or sullen. It's great!
And the food!
I stayed in Robbinston for a week and would visit St John, NB and back during that week. Coming from Los Angeles, my only problem would be the brutal winters. Other than that, I don't think I would mind staying longer. The area was so beautiful! If I had the opportunity to live up there for $850K a year, I'd say peace out to Cali and live in Maine!
When did she say maine?
2 questions: okay $850k not bad! what's the Internet speed in this area? If the answer is anything above 75 megabytes honey pack your shi$ we are moving.
Lol my internet is barely 25m and that s the best we can get
Handsome
Wilson Elias 🤣🤦🏾♂️👌🏾 that’s my only prerequisite as well. Good income and high stabile internet speed.
I really, really, really, REALLY want to know where this lady thinks the "tundra" is! She acts like the job was in middle of Alaska... but I get they feeling it's probably somewhere like Buffalo.
Bethany Heppner aye! I grew up in the middle of Alaska. Lol
I agree I live in Canada and there is no tundra anywhere near the border tundra is way way up north in Canada
Man I already live in Buffalo and I make 11 dollars an hour.
He should drop the dead weight and take the 850k job, this woman sounds like the absolute worst.
She seems like a nightmare to deal with. Im a premed and my wifes job outlook is horrendous because she majored in an useless degree. If im getting offered 850 to go to the middle of nowhere either we are both going or im going by myself.
Omg this lady must of come from a really rich family before lol. Her problems and worries are hilarious. Either situation you come out a winner, but she is worried about how they don't have a retirement savings yet and if they should make 500k more or not lol. In one year, at either job, whatever they save will be more than basically 60% of the rest of the US population's savings accounts. I pray I one day have a problem like hers lol.
However, jokes aside, it is an interesting question. Does more money really bring more happiness? She will lose her friends, family, and basically entire life for extra cash. They are making so much already I highly doubt the extra 500k will add any more joy to their lives. Especially since they can't use it to have fun with anyone. Just alone in no where land with a bunch of cash isn't too exciting.
Team Shmo there have actually been studies on this subject...if money buys happiness,.,....if im remembering what I read correctly, the answer is yes and no. It buys happiness up to a certain amount of money.......I think it was a a few hundred thousand a year or something.
Jen Tuesday MUCH less than that. The study says it was closer to $85,000 believe it or not.
blahh blah well yea... i remembered it being either about 100k a year....or like 2-300k per year ...was just too lazy to look it up that day lol
Team Shmo I am also a doctor and I am familiar with this exact situation.
YES YES YES it is worth it. There is a very big difference in happiness that comes with having enough money not just to live well but to completely stop worrying about money. I live well but not at all extravagantly. Making 350k/yr was way more than enough and allowed substantial savings and investments. After 15 years I have a net worth that allows me to do basically anything I would actually want to do. I cut back my hours to spend time with my kids. I could handle losing a job for years if needed. When I need to buy something I don’t actually have to worry about the cost. I still do out of habit but I know I have enough money so it doesn’t cause actual stress. If this guy took the $850k job, he can get there in 5 years instead of 15. In the tundra with low costs, maybe he can get there in 3. Totally worth it.
they live in NYC.. 85K does not go far in this city. That study must not take into consideration location
Why did Dave spend so much time on this call that only needed a 10 second response but rushes people with actual problems?
The caller needs to: 1) watch Northern Exposure, 2) kill those student loans 3) plan on traveling back home every time they knock out $50,000 debt 4) enjoy traveling and seeing that part of the US. 5) become millionaires in 3 years. Maybe her hubby should consider an annulment/divorce before she divorces him in the tundra....
Those student loans are HIS. Her's are paid off. He should divorce her and make her pay half of his student loans, just for trolling purposes.
Rewatching this to feel better about myself always hits the spot. 😌
What a great way to start your life 3 years and your set for the future
they'll stay in debt, accumulating. why did she call?
She'll be in debt in New York, and he'll be catching giant salmon and hunting moose in Alaska.
mkvnwk 😂😂
Sounds like she's gonna be the next biggest debt I'd say change jobs and wives
He'll divorce her and leave her with half of his student loan debt, as her's was probably paid off by mumsy.
As a physician, I just want to say that there is much more to this question than you guys give this credit for. The job is probably garbage, otherwise it wouldn’t pay that much. He will probably be on call 24/7 for most of the 3 years. It’s no way to live. There is a good chance they will both be extremely unhappy despite the increased income.
I mean, he is a surgeon. He’ll be on call 24/7 either way
@southsidequeensnyc as is the way.
I'd think he would be miserable for 3 years anyway if he is married to a woman like this who seemed to care more about her discomfort than anything else. If he was single, he probably wouldn't even think twice about taking the job.
@@joshuasir_prodijay4540 but isn't it good that she doesn't only care about money?
BUT $850k!!!!
So the super successful doctor married a dingbat....interesting!!! I'm doing something wrong lol.
Living in the rural Tundra region, in total peace and quiet and away from everyone, making $950000 per yr.
Whatever shall I do?🙆🏻♂️
Or be pretty much equally rich where w you and your young wife aren't miserable?
This pisses me off. I'm surprised Dave was able to talk to this woman calmly. I would've lost my marbles if someone had those kinds of options and asked for help.
Right, it's not that hard. Either stay in NYC, be merry, and make 350k or go for the gusto and make 850k!
That’s just immature. We all have problems. Just because they aren’t yours doesn’t mean its not a struggle for her. I love NYC and I love outdoors and camping but I would also hesitate in wanting to live somewhere extremely rural for multiple years.
@@lijohnyoutube101 Than you make decision money and lifetime of non-care living after 3 years with "strugles" of rular life or comfortarble life in your safe zone.
It allows for clickbait you think so one dimensionally lol
"If you can't live on 150k, somebody ought to smack you!!" :D
THESE PEOPLE MAKE ME FEEL LIKE A GENIUS!
They make more money than you...
@@DomainAspect Since when having money makes you inteligent?
Dave rolls with the rich type....why is this call so long! It's obvious, tell her and cut her off. Her struggle is not real!
M1MEDIA Films & Photography ehhh they're still in debt 300k. They ain't rich yet
It weirds me out because if she came from a rich family why does she have student debt
Id figure rich parents would fund their child's education before anything else
Ald Performance Yet he has a job opportunity for 850 a year
Maybe she actually isn't that rich to start with, which led to her having 300k in debt, but then she met that man who is a surgeon making a lot of money. She might not want to move as she is not used to living with a large sum of money and doesn't really see the appeal of making even more then they can spend if she has to live away from her family, friends etc.
She knew exactly how lucky she was, she just wanted the opportunity to brag without being overtly obnoxious
This is just a giant flex
people like this upset me.
Jose Manuel yup I'm trying to achieve making 100k and she makes 150k with a husband soon to make 350-850k and complaining about location lol. I'd move to the middle of nowhere for over 150k a year
i pray to god that one day i make 850k a year
really i just want to return to my family all they have brought to me
Somehow this is a kind of humble brag call. She is just calling to relish in the fact that she may turn down 500k as too inconvenient. Ugh.
“I could make a million dollars a year, but I don’t want to be a little chilly”
Dave: "So you're going to live on nothing, and pay that off real fast. Right?"
Caller: "Um......"
Translation: "No way will I reduce my lifestyle."
