The Patriots is looking at the long term. This isn't Belichick's regime. Ppl said the Patriots had a bad free agency when the Patriots top players were the top players on the market, and they retained them. Wolf is bringing some of that Green Bay mantel to New England. Letting Drake sit this year while Jacoby run the offense and in 2025 the Patriots is going to have the most cap space in the NFL and can get Drake Will Campbell from LSU or get another top tackle, his TE he played with at North Carolina and a WR. The Patriots know that they have their future Qb, and their going to protect him, this isn't Belichick's Patriots anymore.

Overall I like what they did. Have a veteran QB start. Give the rookies an IPad to learn for a while. It worked great for guys like Brady, Love and Mahomes.
Bailey didn’t light the world on fire last year. Milton is a physical freak. Bet on the fact that you could teach him accuracy.

Even if Milton doesn't turn into a starter, he's cheaper than Zappe and seems like the better player

Yup that's why a lot of QBs fail they are trusted into a bad position instantly without giving time to develop. They also blame the QB even though a rookie is constantly getting sacked.
At the least. They need to fix the O Line before they ever play him.

Why is it weird? They traded away Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe sucks. After a 4-13 season, the Pats needed to reset in their QB room. Hence, why they drafted two QBs.

I think Zappe makes the final roster you can’t let Brissett get hurt in the first 2 games because you have no true left tackle and throw drake Maye into pretty much the same filth mac jones was in while he’s not even close to ready. U put so much stock into him you can’t risk ruining him at all

Facts..
*While Mac made plenty of mistakes…Belichick absolutely failed to give this offense ANY sort of continuity whether it be through coaching OR supporting cast. It has declined sharply the last 5 seasons including Brady’s last year. N’Keal Harry was a disaster of a choice over clearly more talent players and Cole still has a chance and has shown flashes…was also a massive reach. Mac deserves his fair amount of criticism…but he was hardly the main problem. Happy to see Mac get a fresh start elsewhere…ALSO happy the Patriots got a more talented QB and are actually INVESTING into the offense around them. They still are lacking a number 1 receiver and a starting left tackle. Hopefully they can change that before the start of the season via trade/feee agency.*
for mac to transition into the environment he was in was terrible. following brady, unstable offensive coordinator, no receivers, turnstile oline, etc. unless the kid was the second coming of brady, manning, breese or rogers, he was not going to succeed. the wheels fell off the belichick bus, he got too use to having brady around. we needed to move on and readjust to an offense heavy league. if bill just drafted anyone rated higher than Harry we may have kept Brady into retirement. whatever, Maye is a great QB to draft given our circumstances. He is used to setbacks like poor oline player and weaker receivers. He can grow with our new guys who are likely better than anyone he had to throw to.

This should be a building year. The worse their win loss record the better. Do not trade for a vet. Take the Ls, develope the young talent then go sign some good free agents next off season and hopefully they can teach Drake how to play QB and we might be good in two years.

The Pats better hope these draft picks work out because last season it has been a dumpster fire of a team and thats not just Mac Jonss fault. They also did not have a fantastic free agency or anything. Drake Maye has a hell of a job to do if he starts.
Mac looked like a solid B- QB his rookie year. It sucks how quickly it fell apart.
I never thought they’d win a SB with him, but it seemed like maybe they could win a playoff game or two with him.
Basically go 9-8 with him compete for a WC spot until they found something better.

I’ve been looking in heavily to the recent pickups in this draft, and I think we at least got some good players. Polk can easily squeeze into that “jakobi Meyers” type of roll, but I really like Javon Baker. He feels shift af, has great hands, and can run routes well, but I do agree. It’s a crowded WR room, but the problem of lacking a true WR1 remains 😔

Drake maye regression can be simply explained like most good QBs in the NFLs regression can be example and ima give you an example. New OC + top 5 worst oline in college. But mainly the OC thing. We’ve seen plenty good and even great QBs get a new OC and take a step back in numbers for a new season while they learn a new system. And here’s a great example
Matt Ryan 2016: 4944 yds 38 TDs and 7 INT MVP.
2017 (Kyle goes to the 49ers): 4095 yds 20 TDs 12ints
2018 (2nd yr under Steve sarkisian) 4924 yds 35TDs 7Ints.
I can give plenty more example also. Football is hard man. Tryna learn a new system is even harder as you go up in levels. But what i can say is. Without Drake Maye UNC is 2-10 last yr

Why didn't people ask for Mac to sit, so tired of hearing people wanting Drake to sit, what if Texans sat C.J? They would've missed out on a great development year for him. C.J learned alot starting his rookie. Drake can benefit a lot from starting. People who want him to sit are Mac Sexuals that feel jaded that mac is gone and half the fanbase hated him. Mac was viewed as “pro-ready” coming into the draft. The question isn’t if Drake Maye has better tools than Mac, because he 100% does. Maye was drafted with a lot of mechanical issues and developmental issues he needs to fix. Is there a chance he crushes camp and is the starter? Yes, But that’s a strong maybe. There’s not a CJ Stroud EVERY year, if he sits he sits, if he plays he plays, regardless don’t expect a Texans run from this team because we are not them by a long haul. We got building to do, it takes patience

I started being a Patriots fan in 93’ when they drafted Bledsoe. I was just a kid then and have been a fan ever since. Not everyone is a bandwagon fan. I actually remember when it was up in the air if Brady would start over Bledsoe in the playoffs for the first Super Bowl and being livid that they went Brady. Obviously I was wrong but yeah, been a journey with this team for sure.
Bledsoe had a pretty good career overall. 4 Pro Bowls a SB appearance won playoff games threw for 250 TD and more than 40,000 passing yards.

Tbh this is a move I was also super interested in, sadly it didn’t happen. This is an alternative that I’m pretty happy with. I think the front office really wanted to try to reset at the QB position and either didn’t believe in Fields or didn’t think anyone in nexts years class touches any of the guys available this year. I’m remaining optimistic for now 😂

@@republicofkingh7513 he won't start. they will have continuity in coaching, have two great qb friendly coaches in AVP & McAdoo, drafted two extremely qb friendly receivers and will be running the ball more with read options, disguises etc. it's already a way better situation for the qb than Mac had. The line is hard to call. They need to coach up a left tackle. And they lack a true star X but really those are the only issues.
Drake Maye = Kyle Trask don’t get your hopes up
I went to Florida while Trask was playing and they are not even remotely close to being the same player. Maye is much younger, way more athletic, has a way bigger arm and played with far less talent on both sides of the ball.
