I remember vividly talking to you nearly this time last year at the Reseller Summit about part time work and part time reselling and you'd not long done your amazing talk. You were thinking about kicking it all in then too, or certainly feeling like it's wasn't sparking much delight any more. I think you've got a touch of Seasonal Reseller Affective Disorder, someone else might be able to come up with a more comedic one. Once you're bathed in a bit of car boot sale light, you'll be feeling it a bit more I reckon, I hope so cos I enjoy your content.

I had the same problem with the GSP when I first started selling about 3 years ago - a buyer in Germany put in a claim as his package hadn't been delivered. About £75 worth of stuff plus shipping - Ebay refunded him and allowed me to keep my payment as well. A couple of weeks later, the buyer contacted me to say his package had finally arrived - as far as I know, he got his stuff for free, which is no skin off my nose. If you're thinking of travelling to new places for charity shops try my home town of Maesteg (I live in Yorkshire, now, but go there sometimes and there's a few places that might be worth a try). Keep at it, Ian.
Hey Ian, it was me that was out and about this morning. You were one of the people that got me into reselling, and I'd feel terrible if i thought I'd contributed to you quitting. Mind you, I've done sourcing trips around these areas before and found nothing, then watched a video of yours where you had hit the same shops before me so i guess turnarounds fair play 😉. Having said all that ironically all i picked up in that shop was a Build A Bear Guinea Pig and that wont see Ebay as my little one is Guinea Pig mad.
Is there a better feeling when another Reseller sees you holding a BOLO .You should fake you've left your wallet at home at the till and watch their eyes light up 😂
It can be so tough somedays when you go out and hit a local spot and in the first couple of shops notice another reseller who is a few steps in front of you, your calm chill sourcing trip can turn into either feeling like you've failed or having to miss a few shops to try and get ahead. Its really difficult coming up with one strategy as well because i always feel like i have to get out early and beat people to it, however the randomness in the way charity shops restock shelves sometimes means eary afternoons are better etc. There is always things to think about to try and maximise trips but often luck is a major factor, being there at the right time, but the biggest advantage you can give yourself is persistence. Keep trucking brother.
The best thing i find is to just go when you can. You can't track other people and you never know how good of a reseller they are. I've literally been in a charity shop with the master and welsh pokie picker before. Ill be honest i didn't introduce myself as they were filming and i didnt want to get in the way😅. He bought some £50 board game I've never heard of and i picked up a pendleton tweed blazer which i sold for £60. The point is he missed the blazer and i would never have found that board game as I'm useless with that sort of stuff. Best thing to do is go in see what you can find but expect nothing
If you're ever (back) in Bristol and want to try some areas outside of the center Ian, I can suggest a few shopping center/high streets you can checkout the shops 🙂
I feel your pain man. I do reselling as a part time side hustle. Have hoped to do it full time in the past but it just never seems to bring enough in for me to live on. If I didn't have my full time job at the moment I'd be in real trouble as sales have been terrible on ebay lately. Have been dependent mainly on charity shops but getting very disappointed with them lately. Well done for finding those boots! Hopefully boot sales will help us all out soon, though I'm finding they are becoming more competitive these days. I think treating it as a hobby in the hope that it can make some side income is the best way. I've no idea how full timers survive, or how they manage to source stock in the winter.
Everyone gets abit down with the lack of bootsales, charity shops increasing prices etc. then right place right time you walk in as the assistant places a brand new pair of boxed Nike size 10 hypervenomX Proximo Street TF on the shelf with a £5 price tag. Then out comes a brand new pair of dr marten boots in a size 9 for £20. Makes it all worth while. Keep your head up and wait for that perfect item 👍
we all go through the way do we bother with ebay at times but thanks to you i am turning a part time ebay into full time when i move house this year. you have taught me u dont have to find the big ticket items to make money on ebay u can make money selling the smaller items. bootsale season round the corner sure youll smash it there mate keep up the great work
Hope you dont take a break (but if you need one you need one) but you are my favourite reseller youtuber and thats because it is about the enjoyment for you and not the money and that does come across in your videoz
Since December had 3 people via GSP claim item hasent arrived. Annoys me as tgen gotta see where item is with tracking, Take photos of tracking details etc to cover you, Message them etc. Plus when they constantly message through that winds me up. Tend to change up where I source usually with Jumbles, charity shops etc even tho charity shops arn't great. It may mean a longer drive and time out of the day but if you can find that one, two, three cool items I find it brightens up my day.
@@MasterofPieces 1 did get to them aventually in Australia, Other one in sweden buyer wernt in 3 times, item went to a holding place and tried to sort through eBay via gsp to get them to refund but I had to which ticked me off as should be covered via gsp
I only use royal mail tracked 48hr now because of the late deliveries with 2nd class and the stress with messages saying where is my item. Its not that tracked 48 is never late but with the full tracking you never receive a late mark if you drop it on time . I just charge the extra cost to the buyers so no effect to me at all and much less stress .
Thing is all of my deliveries are within my specified 3 day dispatch and 3-5 postage window. They might not be within the ebay suggested delivery time tho
It happens. I get it just missed 3 things 3 different times in my favourite charity shop including something for my collection. You get in ruts. But the knocks are in this game, we all get days where it seems like we can't find anything then others where we're literally taking a whole rail or box out the shop. Dealing with setbacks is part of reselling but definitely felt like you have many a time.
100% have had the knocks. With only 1 day available for sourcing a week... I need to wait till next Wednesday to try again. Have 3-4 bad weeks in a row, it gets tough!!
I do eBay part time as a secondary income and do it as a hobby, I too got down and fed up of it around 18 months ago, where nothing was going right, sales down etc, you just have to keep plugging away and do everything you possibly can to overcome the bad days, because when you find that gem, you get that little bit of a rush and a high again, love it when that happens.
I’ve been finding some good things by searching local areas on Vinted and scrolling through all the crud, some gems among it though. Keep it up mate, car boots back soon.

It annoyed me that I couldn't complain to ebay about it - only the buyer could raise the issue, when I was the one who noticed it hadn't been delivered. Aww that sucks ebay shouldn't hold your money hopefully it gets sorted soon. Seeing them angel books good memories I use to watch that back in the day along with buffy there items are really rare. Yeah go different towns mite be able to get some good stuff else where.
Its funny, I've found some of the best stuff when I've not been trying. When I go out hoping to find stuff I never do! eBay isn't my sole income so the way I look at it is that I can buy a load of cool stuff and instead of filling the house with it, I can have it for a while then sell it on. That's the theory anyway...
Sounds like the universe sent you your reselling mojo back 😁. Maybe consider more of the collectable side and specialist selling platforms where the margins will be higher anyway.
Ian suggestion to you perhaps maybe you and Connor could go some were new where you have never been to and see what you could find I'm doing that once every month and it's working well. Also it's always to have a break and run your stock down and start a fresh.
I thought the reason that GSP exists is to allow sellers to sell to international buyers without any issues, forgoing scams etc. I thought that once GSP receives the item and they send it on from their hub, that they take on the responsibility of postage of the item which covers us completely as sellers? Otherwise what is the point in us going through them when they charge extra large amounts to the buyers in extra fees? Seems completely pointless! Thankfully touch wood I have never had these issues, really sorry to hear you and others have though.
Also tracked 48 is now cheaper than 2nd on RM small parcels £3.29 online! I personally now send every 48 due to eBay changing the shipping dates & screwing us sellers
It isn't cheaper than 2nd online. 2nd online is £2.99 without being signed for. £4.19 with signed for. Tracked 48 is £3.29 as you stated but £4.49 with signature. Basically it is an extra money grab by Royal Mail. One I believe that they will eventually force us to use when they eliminate 2nd class all together and lets be honest, all prices will go up again 10% in April anyway.
@@liamthomas1499 yeah I agree, tracked is certainly the better option and obviously takes preference in the system. I have had a couple this year be late or even not turn up. Thankfully I've always been able to claim compensation back for it, why I used royal mail over the cheaper options.
Not giving up don't worry Colin. When the little things build up and start to niggle, I find that's a sign I might need to step away, change the batteries and then come back at it
You fulfilled your side of the deal by getting the sticker to ebay they shouldn't be withholding anything. Also can't understand why they are withholding the full £50? You wouldn't have even received £50 after fees had been deducted.
Brum Reseller's latest vid saying eBay customer service is diabolical for the sellers considering the amount of money they earn. I can't agree with him more. It's painful sometimes but what can you ?
The trouble with us that care - we invest emotion into our sales It’s not transactional to me I love smiling I drive 80 miles each way to hand deliver a sign for a customer this week 😮
If you're buying postage through ebay, I you'd be better off using tracked 48 than 2nd class, (unless it's a very low cost item going as a large letter) Small parcel is about 30p more than 2nd, it's fully tracked with much higher insurance. I think buyers prefer that service to 2nd and royal mail prioritizes during busy periods.
As they say... it's not the getting knocked down, it's how you get back up and keep going that defines you :)
Been watching rocky nic 😂

Thankfully touch wood I have never had these issues, really sorry to hear you and others have though.
It should be as you described!!
@@gonnaw1n yes sorry 2nd online is 2.99 but through eBay it’s 3.49, so I lost as 2nd buy upgrade to tracked 48
@@gonnaw1n second class is useless now, I’ve had stuff take 10+ working days which is when I swapped to 48
@@liamthomas1499 yeah I agree, tracked is certainly the better option and obviously takes preference in the system. I have had a couple this year be late or even not turn up. Thankfully I've always been able to claim compensation back for it, why I used royal mail over the cheaper options.
The large toy wars toy is my sold listing 😂☺️
Haha awesome
I had this problem once I spoke to ebay they released the funds.
Much competition now everyone and there dog is out looking for stuff.

I used to love MB Hotels!!
No don't give up ......please ...this is a blip in ebay ... believe me
Not giving up don't worry Colin. When the little things build up and start to niggle, I find that's a sign I might need to step away, change the batteries and then come back at it
Hi, as I know you are a fan of tmnt, I have a 20007 mehano kids tmnt laptop with the mouse and was wondering if you would be interested in purchasing
The bearded reseller! 😂 Sounds like a modern day scooby doo villian! Can't believe ebay have held the £50 from GSP.
Keep going! I'd miss your face and cute accent. 😅
I need to give that one a watch!!
Thought you were gonna pass out on the boots 😂
Ian - have a chill - watch transformers movie - get fired up in cex
The trouble with us that care - we invest emotion into our sales
It’s not transactional to me
I love smiling
I drive 80 miles each way to hand deliver a sign for a customer this week 😮
I have a similar scenario without funds being held
Game shows git there

Birmingham city we are massive lol
Not many XL size championship players about Ian 😂
If you're buying postage through ebay, I you'd be better off using tracked 48 than 2nd class, (unless it's a very low cost item going as a large letter)
Small parcel is about 30p more than 2nd, it's fully tracked with much higher insurance.
I think buyers prefer that service to 2nd and royal mail prioritizes during busy periods.
Once the car boots return the bargains will flow you are way too good to quit
🍺👍🏻
First
